Kinsume
Statistics Average FPS: 56.74 Duration: 37.43 sec CPU Usage: 48% System memory usage: 55% Video memory usage: 79% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1280 x 1024 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Render Quality: High View Distance: 32 Detail Distance: 70 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 Video Driver version: 266.58 Audio Adapter: Speakers (VIA High Definition Audio) AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor File ID: benchmark.cli This is what I got when I ran the benchmark for the game. However when I get in game and try going around the city it constantly stutters. With fraps (not recording just on for the fps counter, yes I tried not having it on too and it did nothing) on it shows me constantly going between 20 and 40 fps which is pretty unplayable. Now I know my setup isn't the greatest, but its pretty solid, I've had 0 problems in any of the other games on my PC and there are quite a few of them. I can run crysis, two worlds 2, starcraft 2, gothic 4, ect all at max settings with 50-60 fps no problem. So I don't understand what is going on with this game. Kinsume
-memrestrict 188743680 LOW TEXTURES (256M Video Cards) -memrestrict 209715200 -memrestrict 230686720 -memrestrict 262144000 MED TEXTURES (512M Video Cards) -memrestrict 293601280 -memrestrict 314572800 -memrestrict 629145600 HIGH TEXTURES (1Gig+ Video Cards) -memrestrict 650117120 -memrestrict 681574400 I tried 4 different settings. For the 3 high ones I got 20-40 fps randomly with it dropping down to 1 fps for periods of time. With medium there was no change. The lowest one it went from 10-50 with it still dropping to 1 fps at times. Reposting this here. Edit : Also adding, with the 3 high settings if I panned the camera around quickly there was alot of lag and my fps dropped quite low. However on the lowest setting the fps remained the same when I panned quickly. However in both cases when running around or driving the fps would remain constant until I turned and what not. mkey82
Once and for all, this game should not be compared to others you mentioned. Try turning off the windows event log service. mkey82
Usually, this kind of instability is caused by a shabby OS which may operate normally, but GTAIV finds all cracks that may cause issues. I found that frequent GPU driver changes will result in lower and various glitches will appear. Also, sometimes a faulty driver install or damage caused by a virus can cause all sorts of sh*t. GTAIV is picky and there is no way around that. Well, past being lucky.
