Hot new pics! Cigarette, nice pics on the previous page.

Nyze, cool old school cars! I like 'em.

Class, nice one! These palms are cool!

The last one from Jasper I like as well although I don´t like this car.

Picture size should not be above 800 pixels width here. It makes no sense anyway. The bigger the picture the smaller the quality.

No new info about picture contest. Stay tuned!

The only thing that I can confirm by now: The winner will not get a forum medal as reward. But something he´ll get. smile.gif

You´ll need a good machine to run the game with graphics like shown in this thread! I use this computer system (base: HP Pavillion system):

- Vista 32 bit SP2 OS

- PNY GTX460 XLR8 1GB (always latest driver)

- C2Q Q8200 @ 2.3GHz (stock)

- 4GB RAM (3.5GB usable)

- Cougar 550W PSU

- 24" Samsung monitor

- Logitech Z4 soundsystem

What are your graphics settings and ENB settings, and how many FPS do you get in the city?

As you can see in my sig, I have a slitghly better computer than you wink.gif but I only reach ~12 FPS in Liberty City with ENB on sad.gif

Hey Exxon, you may want to Overclock your CPU, it's bottlenecking your HD6950 you know that? Try to reach at least 3.5Ghz.

Exxon: bigger pictures are indeed nicer. But please use THUMBNAILS for those people who do not have a big bandwidth. Instead of posting a full size picture, post a thumbnail which links to the fullsize one. Easy done by copy-pasting from imagebam, imagehack and else. Did you even take a look? I guess not.

So you can give us the choice to see the big one or not, and this way you do not force anyone to always load big chunks he don't wanna see.

Yeah, I post large thumbnails which lead to 1280x1024 screenshots, i mean its not really hard to click on them, if you want to see full-size variant, but its much more annoying to scroll down dozens of screen with each of them = my full screen.

Lower the Glob Reflection+Sun Power lil bit and Play with more Sharp+Noise, not much coz sharp range make DOF (Far View/Star Textures), water reflection and some Head/Tail lights textures look ugly suicidal.gif

Not really. It feels like that a smaller image looks a lot sharper than a big one or in original resolution. Even without AA, a resized 1920*1080 pic look not bad. But in original it look aliased.

The main point of all the size discussion: We should take care that excessive scrolling is avoided, cause that really sucks. For people that have a small screen or which is more important for replying.

The board interface should not be stretched.

As you can see in my sig, I have a slitghly better computer than you wink.gif but I only reach ~12 FPS in Liberty City with ENB on sad.gif

This is my game adjustment right now, I got about 30-40 frames:

Game settings:

- Texture quality: High

- Reflection quality: Very high

- Water quality: Medium (cause it looks more realistic than very high, try it)

- Shadow quality: Very high

- Texturefilter quality: Maximum

- View distance: 20 (makes no sense to go higher cause the frame drop is too high in relation to how the graphic quality increase, below 20 I see the most increase)

- Detail quality: 50 (more than 50 makes no big difference on my system)

- Traffic density: 80 (the more traffic the better the atmosphere)

- Shadow density: 16 (on my HD5770 1GB i got huge framedrop due to this option, on my GTX460 I can enable it, it´s ok)

- Sharpness: Off

- Vsync: Always on (I have 60Hz monitor and due to the fact that the FPS will never go above 60 it makes no sense to disable this option, you could get "tearing".)

It makes no sense to disable Vsync for the most people cause who of us reach more than 60 FPS with very high settings? Not many, not many I believe.

ENB settings:

- Widht: 1280, Height: 1024

- Force AA: Yes

- AA upscale: 1.0 (stock value)

- Force Anisotropic Filter: Yes (x16)

- Reflection extreme precision: Yes

- Bloom: Yes

- AmbientOcclusion: Nooooooooooooo! (this option is very hard candy! Press shift+F10 ingame and you´ll notice dramatic framedrop when you´re also using AA, without AA it´s much better)

You better decide if you use SSAO/SSIL (aka AmbientOcclusion) or AA. Both together is really a performance killer. Try it!

- Sky lighting: No

Did I forget something? I cannot recommend ATI products on this game. My experience with NVidia is much better. Experiences might be different, of course.

Defrag your GTA folder regularly!!! We´re used to overwrite files often in the GTA directories so there might be a strong fragmentation!

i use small thumb but i don't care if other screens are bigger, i use pgup pgdown to scroll , it's easier and faster.

Exactly. Period.

Up and down scrolling isn´t the issue.

But sidescrolling and searching for reply buttons is crap. That makes replying a torture.

All forum menues/buttons should be on one screen. When the signatures disappear, that´s also bad.

i think forum would have a code that prevent the introdution of large images, maybe something that allow only thumbs

I´m also not a friend of thumbs. They might get overlooked very fast. Maybe you´ll overlook something interesting. Clicke di clack, it would be a lot clicking if all were thumbs.

To show an interesting image a width of 800 is absolutely enough. And again: When you resize an image it will look better!

Anyway it´s a discussion that´ll never end. Do what you have to do but when you do it, do it cool! cool.gifbiggrin.gif

I know it is sad.gif but my BIOS is locked cryani.gif

Do you know a way to overclock a cpu when the BIOS is locked??

^^ I cannot believe this.

My Q8200 which is weaker than yours would therefore also bottlenecking my GTX460. But it doesn´t actually.

Also I´ve heard often that the CPU should be good (like yours or mine) but not extreme. I think the GPU is most important. Not the VRAM, the chip itself. Of course more VRAM is always better.

The only thing that is totally different in your system is the GPU compared to my system. All other specs are mostly similar. If you got low frames (12 is low), your GFX card isn´t supported well

or isn´t adjusted well. Or the chip itself isn´t the best one for this game. Is this a Crossfire system? GTA 4 doesn´t support this as far as I know.

I recommend you to visit Boris Vorontsov´s website. There you´ll find a tutorial for best adjustment for an ATI card (Catalyst Control Center adjustment). That may help!

Here you go directly to the information: http://enbdev.com/doc_cp_ati_en.htm

Nope, no Crossfire.

EDIT

That site you gave me, I can't use it.

My CCC is way different then his (yes it's russian, but I don't mean that).

I have other options than he has and I don't see those pictures.

Only the first on Standard View, but that's it.

Should I just set everything to Performance?

@NaidRaida - these Q-models @ stock speeds are a HUGE bottleneck for most fast nVidia cards (GTX460 comes into that catefory) - a 1GHz overclock will give the VC a lot more "room to breathe" wink.gif

@Exxon - SetFSB should help, but in my experience, the BIOS is a better solution for a 24/7 OC. SetFSB is helpfull when you want to squeeze everything from your system. Also, CCC settings didn't make a difference for me (stock HD 5750 with 1GB VRAM).

sorry, no pics, last night was beer night, and today i'm poking around with Dirt3 moto_whistle.gif

No, I think it is better to use something like "controlled by game". I´m out of ATI anyway, sorry.

^^Thats too big. Try to resize it to a width of 800. It´ll look better.

Ok, the second one is good in case you don´t post ten of them in one row.
