BoxMonster's Timecyc, new .fx + .ini tweaks, new screens. Seeing where it goes... colgate.gif Not sure if I like this timecyc or the old L3EVO / LPF312 timecyc yet. Boxmonsters definitely DOES have a positive impact on performance though - I like that.

i've tried BLACK_Ds Mixed Sets Tweaedk_by_PacketOverload but it doesn't look like in the screenshots. my game version is 1.0.7.0 (also tried it on 1.0.4.0, but looks the same like @ 1.0.7.0 - 1:1)

anyone can tell me what am i doing wrong?

1. install IV

2. patch

3. install graphics mods - Reality, trees, textures & so on

4. (optional) install modded cars (i keep a backup of the vehicles files smile.gif )

5. install ENB pack

6. looks different than the screenshots posted here. there is a certain lack of clarity i details in the lightning on the world bored.gif

my game version is 1.0.7.0

This is the reason. I've been in your shoes. Trust me I know. confused.gif If you really want to fix it you can choose to stay on 1070 and use maybe Goobz or P1ch3's ENB Sets and try to "Make It Work" or read some honest advice below.

What you did to get it to work on 1040 must have been done wrong. Sorry buddy, but I have seen the difference between doing it properly myself. I'll give you a quick tips:

1. Copy your Rockstar Games folder from Program File to "Somewhere Safe"

2. Reinstall GTA IV.

3. Put in Xliveless.dll (0.997b) + Scripthook 0.4.0.0 (ScriptHook.dll)

4. Patch 1001, 1020, 1030, 1040 (Patch 4), 1004 (last Patch is Patch 5 aka 1004)

5. Unpack the rar file. Allow it to overwrite all files in the directory. Use the d3d9.dll file if you want.

6. Check the Options in the Game. Turn Shadows on MAX. Turn everything up to the point that your computer can handle (I don't force any of this stuff via commandline.txt for the most part).

7. Run at your "Native" resolution of your monitor.

What's really doggin' you right now is that pesky 1070 patch IMO. Some will disagree with me, but 1070 was so depressing - factoring in all the sh*t I had to go through to get it to look better than a bag of smashed assholes.

Thank You!

I already have a backup of a 'clean' IV 1.0.7.0 in a different foler, so i will do a fresh install today & patch to 1.0.4.0 (i guess just use the 1.0.4.0 patch, no need to install all the previous versions?), and try this. icon14.gif

Yeah, you just patch in 1.0.4, you don't have to install 1.0.1+1.0.2+1.03+1.0.4, only the last patch you want and it's good !

Really? I had nothing but problems when I went that route. Interesting.

EDIT: Hmm, well. Next time I have to reinstall IV I'll try to go directly to 1004. Makes sense. I check the patch file sizes and 1004 is 93 MB's which is x2 larger than all the rest of the patches which typically means that the patch is of course inclusive of all the previous fixes. smile.gificon14.gif

If i want a game in 1.0.4, I always install the fresh game and just patch directly in 1.0.4 ; and It always works for me !

Of course you only need to apply the patch you want. Not all the previous ones. biggrin.gif

All patches includes the previous changes.

But trying 1.0.4.0 crashes on my system so I take 1.0.3.0.

everything's maxed @ 1920x1080, just resized it (smooooooothing) in Photoshop

these are @ 800x600 with AA - the game plays fine with 20+ fps all the time this way, but looks like sh*t on my monitor

One of the great developer files I had (Dpeasant or DKT or gp65c or lpf312 - god only knows which one I tested out) has great code for antialising / smoothing. I couldn't get AA looking really good without completely destroying my performance. What's odd is, maybe it's not so odd to those who know, the game can look amazing with different effect.txt and enbeffect.fx code - almost antialised! I was testing and completely forgot which combination of files worked so beautifully (work distracted me).

What I mean by that is running AA with 12 FPS didn't even look as good as the combination of those files running No AA @ 1920x1080 16 Anistropic Filtering. Going to have to look into that again soon.

I'm happy you did the right thing and just went to 1004. I wasted 6 months f*&!ing about with 1070. Glad your liking the sets. By the way, if you got these running, you should be able to try out other folks' sets with reasonable ease. Just make sure you delete your 1070 directory backup and make a backup of your installation the way it is now happy.gifcolgate.giflol.gificon14.gif

Think about that:

Enabling AA is not the framekiller itself except you take enormous values! But in combination with SSAO/SSIL it is cause the performance is directly depending on pixel amount.

Try forcing AA with and without SSAO/SSIL. You´ll notice a dramatic difference in performance.

I never used AA until I noticed that. But I used SSAO/SSIL (AmbientOcclusion). Now I do it vice versa.

Nice pictures folks! tounge.gif

Yeah, it makes total sense and I do not know why I didn't realize that earlier. Thanks icon14.gifmonocle.gif

@JasperHQ

Jasper that first shot is EPIC. Love it! The vignette, is it easy to input? If so, could you post the code when you get a chance?

^^Well, it´s your decision: You can take more sharpness with AA enabled or you can take a more realistic look with SSAO enabled. Both together is hard candy for me but gives best results of course.

Well your screens look pretty damn good so I'm gonna try without SSAO lol.gificon14.gif

Enabling/disabling it seems to make no big difference on my system. I prefer the frames and sharpness instead of the better shadows/lighting.

It´s almost the same for me in the matter of performance : SSAO/no AA or AA/no SSAO.

Just press Shift+F10 ingame to enable or disable SSAO. I really see no big difference.

You were right Naid! SSAO + Ambient Occlusion Off = AA + Decent FPS. Visually, there isn't too big of a difference in many areas. Still looks good. Screens taken at 2720x1536.

If you want to play in 1.0.7 with a good looking game, don't use all these kind of ENB Config cause they are all only for 1.0.4, and as they use ENB Series 0.82 SORA, you will have a red sky bug in 1.0.7.

To have a good looking game in 1.0.7 (and for EFLC), without any bug (red sky or others), I've made my own mod that works good biggrin.gif but it's not as beautiful as the others ENB Config we can see on the screens in this topic. But the final effect is still interesting, I wanted to make it very colorated and happy ^^ maybe you will like ?

If you are interested you can visit my site (it's not finished yet but the essential is in it) :

http://dreamivevolution.blogspot.com/

The only problem is that the AA don't work sad.gif but I will probably find a way to solve that.

This mod is whole new so I haven't got time to take screens, but I will do that today !

Oh, and my mod works fine with EFLC 1.1.2.0 too, and works perfect online too !!

Well after further testing, BoxMonster's timecyc seemed to kill my car reflections and just generally became a pain with Black_D's lpf312, Bone, p1ch3, DKT based sets. So, I moved to L3EVO's 3-12 timecyc and restored my old settings and began tweaking again.

Would anyone happen to know of a way to light the buildings via the enbeffect.fx? I would like to make the buildings nice and bright but without affecting skylighting / other lighting. icon14.gif

I think this config will be here to stay.
