I would say the original Driver is the best overall, although if Driver 2 wasn't PS1 exclusive I would have gone for that.

The problem with Driver 2 is that the game runs ridiculously slow, it's barely playable on the PS1 but a ton of fun if you play it on an emulator.

The subsequent releases came across as subpar sandbox games, the driving was bollock twistingly annoying because the games were inherently broken (luck > skill) and the onfoot sequences were rather naff too.

Driver. That game was so freaking awesome I remeber finishing that game in a single 8 hour session (didnt own a memory card for my PSX at the time).

Hopefully San Fransisco will be awesome and take the reign as best Driver game for me.

G The Generous

well,this sound crazy but i like Driv3r

gameplay is kinda buggy, but it style, music, story, level design, are awesome

talk about the next one,Driver San Francisco sound like a fail game to me,all you do in that game is just driving around, chase some ass just for 1 reason: get Jericho

at least there should be some action sequences in this game(shooting,driver-by,jump from this car to another car,...),and this game is become unreal,"flash" feature for explame,Tanner can "teleport" from this car to another car just like some kind of superman, and that's mean the game is completely bullsh*t

For me it was 2, i loved that game and spent ages playing it!

Like ive said before i seriously consider driver 2 to be the start of that kind of open world, free roaming crime genre! Although what you could do was limited, it got the ball going in the right direction!

Haha ohh memories, i must of done this a million times:

Parallel Lines was great. Innovative game play, great driving physics and great soundtrack. The cut scenes were very cinematic, the car customisation was loads of fun and they boldy set the game in New York with two different timelines. You start off in 1978 go to prison and come out in 2006 or something. Loved it!

I agree with you, but not on the driving! tounge.gif I remember pushing the handbrake button and the car just sliding like crazy. The slo-motion effect you could do was pretty cool though.

I thought the driving was more similar to GTA IV than San Andreas ever was. Yeah and the slo-mo was great! icon14.gif

I used to love doing the slo-mo right when I was running over pedestrians. I'm a sick f*ck.

PetsOvernight

Driver 2... that game was f*cking epic as sh*t. I feel like playing it again just for the nostalgia, takes me back, man. Original Drive was also amazing, and still clearly remember the first time I played it when it came out; was revolutionary.

Played Driv3r like once and saw it was pretty crappy, and never played any of the other ones. I'll give the new Driver coming out a try but I honestly don't have very high hopes.

Yes he is.

i am not going to argue with him because i have got to much in my log so he can screw his self!

EDIT:just not to spam i wanted to say that driv3r lacked many things

-Melee weapons

-The police use the double speed AI

-Your health decreases if you swim in a swimming pool for to long.

I have to say Driver Parallel Lines. I played the first two games too late for them to wow me like they did everyone else, but PL was alright. It wasn't really great, but good enough. Also, it had a f*cking amazing soundtrack which kept bringing me back again and again. I still haven't found some of the songs, they are super-rare.

Short version: Parallel lines.

I do that in the beaches of MIAMI where the car is jumping up and down because of all the sand piles.

WastedEngland

Voted Driver, I played that religiously on PS1 as a kid.

Blew my mind when I got it on PC A year or so later and found out on the PC version you can choose what car you can 'Just Drive' in.

Otherwise it would probably be Parralell Lines, I liked how when you arrived in 2006, you could still see some of the '76 cars driving around. Something I've always wanted a GTA game to have, so you can choose to drive around in the GTA IV or Vice City era Banshee or the San Andreas era Infernus etc.
