Minor corrupted savegames causing bad fps

I have noticed that in GTA4 the savegames corrupt quite frequently,

even though your save game may be mildly corrupted you can still play the game from that save, but you may notice some bugs from time to time, eg,

you may experience frequent game crashes/freezes,

massive drops in frame rates in random areas,

Some object located in wrong positions (like a fence's model being where the flying rats are supposed to be for example - *note* making it impossible to kill the flying rats),

ect

I believe that the game only changes the required field of a game save, so you cant just fix a save by saving again, the only possible way to fix a save file would be to hex it if you know how to.

I would suggest trying to start a new game and see'ing if you notice any bugs that you may have been experiencing are gone and if you do see any of the bugs gone, then maybe try loading the second latest save you have, then third, ect, until you find a save which doesn't contain the bug which you may have been experiencing in GTA4

On an unmodded copy of the game? I don't think so.

Not a single savegame of mine has been corrupted or damaged in any way yet, so I have no idea what you mean when you say they corrupt frequently.

Like I said, you may not notice it at first, you may just think that you see a few bugs which are in the game normally anyway, if you try a new game and look for those bugs, you may notice they have gone!.

P.S:

I remember thie first time my game corrupted was about two months after owning it (when there was no mods yet) that time the corrupted save caused the game to continuosly crash (everytime I started the game it either crashed during the loading time, or crashed less than a few minuites after the game started)

the latest corruption has happened to an unmodded game (I don't use mods now because the fps are more reasonable with the default game)

the latest corruption btw caused objects to appear in wrong locations in single player mode

eg: Romans Cab office did'nt have the outside walls,

and the Pigeons/Flying Rats didn't appear, instead I saw a basketball hoop replacing each pigeon, and since no pigeon appeared I couldn't complete the flying rats section of the game (also, when I walked into the hoops they just disapeared)

ect.

*note*

you may see other random objects spawning in random locations.

Nope, I have tried many different savegames to date (some mine, some downloaded), but not a single one of them forced me to question their integrity or give me reasons to doubt that there was something wrong with them. So, I find it a little difficult to buy your theory.

Are you sure the abnormalities are not a result of mods? I know you said you're on an unmodded copy, but if you didn't do a clean reinstall, chances are that some residual elements left over from when you were using mods could be affecting your savefiles. I find it highly dubious that an unmodded copy of the game would corrupt a savefile to such an extent that pigeons would get replaced by basketball hoops. The issues that you mention are fairly uncommon (in fact, I have never heard of them before), so, chances are that there's something wrong with your installation and you might need to take a closer look at it.

There is no need for mods to get the savegame corrupted, that's for sure.

1) savegames on consoles are known to get corrupted

2) I had a corrupt savegame that prevented me from completing one GTAIV mission, without using mods

Haven't seen the stuff mentioned above, though.

There is no need for mods to get the savegame corrupted, that's for sure.

But we cannot ignore the fact that they can.

Also, I think the term 'corrupted' is being used pretty loosely here. As far as I'm concerned, if the save works then it's not exactly corrupted, glitched maybe, but not corrupted.
