GTAaddict96
What would you rather? A dark and serious game or a Lighthearted and funny one. Each option opens up different gameplay oppurtunities and can make for a great game. What do you predict R* will do with GTA V. Kwandilibro
I'd rather a combination of both with more emphasis put on dark and gritty. GTA 360
Dark ang gritty at the start when you are a stranger and you seem suspicious to everyone and when you get to know more people and what people are like you start to have a laugh and a joke with them and you get less scared of your surroundings. And then lots of people want to kill you and it turns gritty again but when they're dead it's all funny. Long Haired Freaky Guy
Why not make the surroundings decide the atmosphere of the game. Like, at the start of the game, you're on an island over-run by crime and safehouses are cheap apartments. But then, as you unlock new islands, the atmosphere starts picking up, to coincide with your rise to the top. Last island could have a mansion next to the beach and stuff like that. silentsharklol
A combanation of both would be cool. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468511-dark-and-gritty-or-lighthearted-and-funny/#findComment-1060315337 Share on other sites
ObsydianRaven
Dark and gritty, GTA IV was nothing compared to what Rockstar could have done. EmPty CaSInGz
Dark and gritty with occasional comedic relief. R* missed a trick with IV; they could have made it much more balanced. i'd rether have it tipping towards serious, though. PhonixMonk
The general theme and mood should be dark and gritty, but with a strong focus on dark humour, social satire, and parodies. Personally, I'd like something surreal (kind of like Vice City was - the most glamorous and vibrant place on earth, yet there were gruesome murders all over, and a general feeling of deprecation to be felt in essence). Sanjeem
Well, the last IV was gritty enough for me thankyou very much, i'd rather it was a Sunny location, but a still gritty combined with glamourouse atmosphere. Wenis IV
Dark and gritty is so f*cking cliche this gen, so no thanks to that. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468511-dark-and-gritty-or-lighthearted-and-funny/#findComment-1060317026 Share on other sites
cp1dell
Dark and gritty, like The Lost and Damned. But from time to time, a character that provides comedic relief. Think about it, it's Grand Theft Auto, and they are trying to be realistic. In a world where your life is surrounded by crime and life-threatening choices, everything is going to be dark and gritty. Except where the protagonist has that one friend that is always bothering him and is halarious. El Zilcho
Definetly dark and gritty storyline, but with a lot more lighthearted stuff to do after the game is finished (think GTA IV story with BoGT side missions, cars, cheats etc) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468511-dark-and-gritty-or-lighthearted-and-funny/#findComment-1060317163 Share on other sites
cidamelo
I really don't know. I like both! GTA III is my favorite GTA, and it is the most dark and gritty of all, but I also love Vice City and San Andreas, they are funnier!!
