buzbegone
The thing is through homebrew, we were able to play PS1 classics on our PSPs a while before Sony presented the scheme. It's funny how dedicated the modding community can get compared to Sony.
unopescio
I thought sony made the code and hackers only manipulated it to run isos?
gta_king
Add to which a lot of the original emulation software that the homebrew community puts onto the Vita/PSP already exists anyway it's just a matter of porting the code to run on the PSP/Vita. SyphonPayne
For now I am happy with my PSP-3000 and the GTA games. My interest in Vita won't really peak until the first GTA is released on it.

It's funny how dedicated the modding community can get compared to Sony. Actually, as OnePiece said, Sony already had the code done, Hackers merely activated it a few months earlier. The ACTUAL homebrew PS1 emulator on the PSP was struggling to maintain 10fps on most games. The ironic thing is, Sony also coded a UMD-less Driver for PSN titles, and this was also used by Hackers to run ISO's better, before that, you HAD to have a UMD in the drive when running an ISO, so, in a weird way, Sony provided the hacking scene with their own No UMD Driver and PS1 Emulator on the PSP. As for the Vita, Sony have said they are reworking the code for the emulator instead of just porting it from the PSP. By all means the Vita can perfectly emulate the PSP, right down to homebrew loaders working as normal, so yeah, they could have been lazy and just attached the PSP PS1 Emulator on it instead, but apparently they didn't want to do that and wanted to make a version for the Vita to take advatage of the Vita features, if that means better scaling or render methods on PS1 games (such as the methods saw on the PS2) then so be it, we just have to wait until they are ready to throw it out. Freakorama
My most major gripe with the Vita is there is no way to sort your music, photos and videos into folders like you could on PSP. You can't even make music playlists which is annoying because when I'm playing Motorstorm RC I'd like to play the Motorstorm 1 soundtrack and not the other 411 songs I have on there with it. You bastard It's a bit ironic that I bought a Vita and all I do on it is play VCS. All I can say is, bring on the 70 new Vita titles
Effy in Chains
because its not as simple as all that? Without the same hardware as the ps2 the psv would have to run it all through software. Its possible to do but requires a lot of hard work and stability would always be an issue. Maybe theyre working on it in private, the console only just came out. I really hope Sony can emulate the PS2 version of GTA San Andreas on the Vita, before 2012 is over, that would be sweet. It's #1 on my wishlist for Vita games. Even if they did, it would be a bitch to map and remember all those little doo-hickeys (packer tray movement, gang recruitment) with no L/R 2/3. It would definitely ramp the cramp up. Freakorama
This is why they have a touch screen.
buzbegone
This is why they have a touch screen. No, the Vita has a touchscreen to keep up with the DS. I'm having a major c*nt of a time putting my argument into words but touchscreen capabilities on any future GTA release for the PSV shouldn't be included. It just isn't natural. Besides, I doubt they'll re-jig controls just for the Vita.
unopescio
Yeah the touch screen and the touch pad on the back seem pretty stupid. good for typing I suppose but I find that kind of crap in games annoying.

Freakorama
What I meant was, they can use the touch screen to fill in the extra buttons for the emulators. DHUUUUUUUUR.

Reintroducing those icons GTA III had would look as ugly as f*ck. The PSV is cramped enough as it is.
Freakorama
Not really. I've seen a homebrew video of a PS3 remote play function where the back touch pad is R2 and L2 on the proper sides, and L3 and R3 are on the proper sides on the front touchscreen. There is absolutely no need for display buttons, they're only missing four buttons and if you can't remember where they are on the touch panels then god help you. Upon thinking about your point, picking up my Vita and trying it out, I find no reason to disagree with that. It's very interesting to see Remote Play in action. Some vids to satisfy... GTA IV: Nice looking cutscene Ballad of Gay Tony: Pretty choppy audio Red Dead Redemption: Fallout 3: f*ck. Yes. Plays surprisingly well. I would not hesistate to make love to this game even if it were a dog. AC: Brotherhood: Battlefield 3:
Effy in Chains
I really wish i had a PS3 to use this "remote play"" function. Does it use the graphics/processing power of the Vita, or is it just the display is directly beamed from the PS3?

Does it use the graphics/processing power of the Vita, or is it just the display is directly beamed from the PS3? As far as I can tell, it's beamed wirelessly via internet or a private network. With the official remote play support, the list of playable PS3 games is pitiful so you must have CFW to have a wider selection.
Mister Pink
Just having a quick look at this Vita machine and I think it's great. The features seem quite good and it looks slick. Going on my list of purchases 🅵🅴🅽🅸🆇 🅵🆄🅽🅺 🅵🅸🆅🅴
ccrogers15
Actually according to my friend if you have a ps3 and vita, they can send/receive data via blu tooth. He dont have internet, and he remote plays and its way faster then my psp 3001.
*MURDOC*
BlueTooth only works so far from the source though, right? I would think that there would be a big difference between remote-play via BlueTooth in the same room and remote-play via Wi-Fi from another state. But of course I haven't totally read up on the Vita.

Actually though PS3 controllers use blu tooth to send and receive the data, and my controller can stay connected in other rooms if i go walking around in the house. It has a good distance. But thats just the controller. The vita might not have long range. Id have to ask my friend taylor about it, cause hes got a vita. After seeing fallout 3 playing perfect with remote play, this is a top to save up for. I want one, but im not getting it until PSone classic support is restored. Thats what i use my PSP 3001 for most, is playing PSone classics like Spyro, crash and resident evil.
*MURDOC*
Yeah I know the controllers use Bluetooth, and in your house is still limited range. I was referring to actual long distances, not just 100 feet away or less.
Effy in Chains
I'm kind of ok with how the Vita screen is... but sometimes the black splotches are visible during dark-environment gameplay in the dark, not just on loading screens. Will it be years before we see a Vita with an improved version of the OLED screen without these quite annoying problems? What I mean is, the PSP 2000 was released nearly 3 years after the PSP 1000... so is that approximately how long it will take to see changes to the Vita? Or might Sony ask Samsung to produce some improved screens next year, when production costs have dropped? (then put them in the Vita without changing the model name/appearance when the screen is off).

ccrogers15
You know what i thinks total BS? That the psvita in its couple months of existence, ALREADY has a facebook app. PS3 users have been asking for one since PS3 launched in 2007 since most people who use the for facebook have to use sonys crappy browser. How come vita has the app now, but PS3 still gets kicked in the face?

On another note, imo the 2 cameras on the Vita are a total waste... i'd rather their cost had went into an improved problem-free screen.
