PC Gamers United

Recommended Posts

I'm sick of not being able to find decent games on live or servers with mature players. However I have decided to stop whining for now and do something about it. In a last-ditch attempt to muster a number of good players I am posting this topic.

A simple plan

What this topic is for

- Discover fellow PC players

- Organize games. Anyone can call the shots.

- Try out new multiplayer mods, modes and servers.

Who can join

Anyone with alteast one PC GTA title (1\2\III\VC\SA\IV) is welcome to join. You're also going to need a live account to participate in GFWL events.

To sign-up leave a post in this topic, with the following information:

- List out Grand Theft Auto titles (eg; GTA3, VC)

- Installed multiplayer mods (eg; SA:MP, IV:MP).

Organising the fun

Once we've got a few people involved, feel free to get a meet-up started. Leave a post in this topic to let everyone know of your event. If you have no problems in going the extra mile, you can also PM players. Using the player list below, find out who's eligible to attend your event (based on the games and mods they've got). We could use IRC to 'lobby' before getting into the game, or even arrange impromptu meets. Much appreciated if an IRC regular could set up a channel for this purpose.

At the minimum, mention the following information:

- Date & Time (in GMT to be standard and avoid confusion)

- Game and mod

- Server if applicable

- What we'll be doing

There's no template to be used. Present it in any way you can, do try to be short and sweet.

Make sure to notify everyone well in advance (a week's time would be good measure). Earlier is better (to a certain extent), as it allows people to make themselves available for your meet and negotiate the timings if possible. If another met-up is already scheduled in the following week, try to postpone yours.

If you would like to introduce a new mod, make a post much earlier, instructing others on how to install and use it.

Keeping in touch

Subscribe to this topic and enable sidebar view. If you don't want to receive an email message every time someone posts in here, uncheck "Send email when someone replies to a subscribed topic?" here. Answer 'Yes' to "Do you want all subscribed topics displayed on the sidebar?" here. When there is some activity, you will see the topic title 'light up' in the sidebar.

If someone is putting together a meet-up and sends you a PM, please be courteous an reply as soon as you can. This will allow the organizer to plan better and faster with the help of your inputs.

If you don't visit the forums regularly, but check your email often, have PM notifications enabled. Check "Send a confirmation email when I receive a new private message" here. You will receive email whenever someone sends you a PM.

Putting the multi in 'multiplayer'

We won't be getting anywhere with only a handful of people participating. Irrespective of how many members sign-up, only fraction will ever make it to any given meet-up (this premise is based on past experience and Murphy's law). More is better, and there is no upper limit on how many ever can join. Yet you are not obligated to attend every game that is ever organized, join whatever meet-up suits you. If you know anyone outside GTAF who might be interested, try to get them involved in here.

Only now noticed this. wow.gif

There are more then enough people playing PC GTA games, its just that, none of them has their clan based on GTAF, which is a shame. sad.gif Whenever you guys play online, be sure to advertise GTAForums, by typing in the chat and what not, it's could attract a guy or two to join the forum and the MP section. Maybe in the GTA IV and SA section, there should be forward links added to the ''gangs'' section, just like it was done with the multiplayer events.

I plan on doing some SA events and IV PC events on GTAF starting July, once i get to university and finish off my hard exams and entrance tests from april-june. Would be nice that our Y SA:MP server becomes a GTANET server, but for that, we need money donations, so we can find a 24/7 host.

The amount of people who sign up here would be the same imo, 5 of us Yardies, 3 of you SRS and Kanja, and 1 guy from Dom Mob if he sees it. We need to find ways to advertise and bring new faces and clans to GTAF, in order for more events activity.

Well, this didn't go well. cryani.gif Sorry for the bump, but GTAF really needs more active PC GTA clans.

Woah, I forgot all about this topic. Thanks for dropping by guys, glad to know that I'm not alone.

Andy, there just aren't many players online. Maybe GFWL's lack of friendliness is to blame. Of course the forums could do with better representation on the PC front.

Those are some valid suggestions, I will bring it up to the higher-ups' notice. Both SA and IV are too old to have that deluge of players, but always better to be late than never. Meanwhile we need to gather as many people as we can, lets spread the word. This thread could be used as a rallying point and help increase attendance in other events.

This is still on. I was hoping that we could get something going the following week. SA:MP / MTA seems to be the mods common between all of us; so which one should we use? Please post your choice of mod and/or server.

I'm slightly biased towards MTA because of the pretty free-roam menu and in-game mods, but SA:MP works fine for me too.

They're like cousins, both have their own advantages and disadvantages but are the most popular SA multiplayer mods. I would say MTA is open and technically offers more possibilities, while SA:MP is somewhat restrictive. MTA does not have as large a userbase as SA:MP's, so SA:MP gives you a larger number of servers to choose from.

You can download MTA here: http://www.mtasa.com (Just like SA:MP, you require SA v1 for MTA)
