Dingleman
This only seems to be happening with custom meshes I make, not ones that I convert. Whenever I put a static object/model into San Andreas with its LOD I tend to notice the model dips in colour for a split second as it loads the LOD from the normal, or the normal from the LOD when moving away or towards it correspondingly. Here is what I'm talking about... What am I'm doing wrong? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468249-glitchy-normal-to-lod-transition/ Share on other sites
Excel240
I'm going to guess that the LOD is the exact same size as the Norm? A copy? It simply overlaps upon transition, creating an extra-dark mesh. A reduction in the LOD's size should fix the problem. This is why if you've ever been stuck playing SA with only LOD's appearing, they are all smaller or out of proportion from the original buildings I hope that is the problem anyway. Dingleman
I just tried this, but the problem is still there. I also just established its the normal model that is doing the dipping, not the LOD. As soon as the LOD model appears for transition the normal one goes dark untill it is gone, same for when its going from LOD to normal. Only when the normal model is fully loaded and on its own does it illuminate correctly. Excel240
Alright, sorry that the first bit didn't help any. That was the case for me when I had this problem. I noticed that Dewalk28's "SAkina" map mod also has the same issue, and now..that my own map mod has the same problem, yet my other 2 (one in SF, one in LV) don't. Rough speculation declares the location as being part of the problem. Sorry I can't provide any answers at this moment, but I will do my own investigating later today. Mark01
Have you applied vertex colors for both day and night ? If only for day then that's maybe be the problem, or there's a flag to add in the ide line... not sure tought just trying to help. Dingleman
I actually only have it for the day, as I'm not entirely sure how to do NVC. I've tried in the past but failed miserably Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468249-glitchy-normal-to-lod-transition/#findComment-1060312974 Share on other sites
Mark01
Lately I found out that some models I added to the game had this glitch... My models have both day and night vertex color, I tried to make the LOD smaller than the original model, nothing changed so yeap this is not related to vertex color or z-fighting. To me the problem is between MAX and DFF exporters, there's something to set up but I don't have a clue what it could be. What you said dingleman describe the glitch well, I have nothing to add, however if you know how to resolve this or someone else know, I would be glad to know.
