fireguy109
Okay, so I've been messing aroud for a few months now and I've completely pimped my GTA III install. Now, I am currently gathering permissions from the owners of the mods I have installed to release them in one big package. If there is anyone who doesn't want theirs hosted, I am going to remove it. Now I have also modded the collfiles to make the interior of joey's garage solid so you can drive cars up on the ramp. I used Barton Waterduck's car spawn editor to change the spawn locations in my main.scm file so cars spawn on the lifts. Here's what I'd include in my mod, which would have to be a manual install because I don't know how to make an auto-installer. main.scm gta.img industse (entire folder) making (col file) vehicles.col handling.cfg pedstats default.ide carcols.dat Odie's stunt park files- Unfortunately I can't ask him if it's okay, so I'm going to look through the readme and see what it says about sharing. Intercity highway by Odie and illspirit- same as above, because if I remember right illspirit retired from GTAF. Now my question is, will I get banned for posting all these files on GTAGarage in one zip as a mod? Because the main.scm is required to make the game work, so it could I suppose be classified as, gulp, warez. Girish
AFAIK, if you have obtained permission from the original authors and give them due credit for their mods, you should be fine. PatrickW
If you have proper permission from all authors of stuff that is in your pack and you put in enough creative work of yourself (other than just collecting the mods), then there is no problem with uploading it to GTAgarage.com. Also make sure not to include the original files in your pack, only include the stuff that needs to be changed. P.S. Distributing a modified main.scm file is not an issue, (distributing gta_sa.exe would be). fireguy109
Okay, thank you so much, I wasn't sure about that scm file. One question though, what do you suggest I do about the Highway and Stunt Park? There are no details regarding distribution in either readme. Should I just make install instructions and set it all up so all they (the DLders) need to do is paste the files from the official mod into the proper folder? And thank you to whoever changed this topic's title from "bannes" to "banned". Also, would converting mods designed for Vice City to GTA III be classified as creative work? I mean, I'm working on editing textures with my buddies, but they aren't very impressive. Suction Testicle Man
Should I just make install instructions and set it all up so all they (the DLders) need to do is paste the files from the official mod into the proper folder? This is best - it prevents any confusion about authorship of content and means we don't have to host redundant duplicates of data that needlessly eat our bandwidth. Also, would converting mods designed for Vice City to GTA III be classified as creative work? Not really, no. I'm assuming they're vehicles, in which case the work involved is minimal. Unless you're having key creative input on the conversion and have full permission from the original author, then we would discourage it in favour of building fresh content. fireguy109
Okay, thanks STM. I think making my own custom collfile for Joey's Garage counts as original work, since I had to custom-edit it so that you can actually spawn cars on the lifts. I decided that I'm going to include a few garages I made in Sketchup, including an exact replica of Tej's for 2 Fast 2 Furious. Time to break out the Sketchup-Zmod conversion tuts! I might talk with my buds about putting this mod pack off and working on a 2F2F TC first. If I did this, I don't think it'd be too bad to include some of my Fast and Furious VC conversions as a pack(?). Thank you everyone who replied! Sam998
illspirit is still on the forums. He's posted on one of my topics very recently. You could still get permission from him. I'm not sure that's true, I've gotten replies from lots more "important" people on the forum than me. Keep trying.
