I don't think SR will even get a mention in V's promo campaign.

It's like thq realised they couldn't match GTA's acclaim or street cred, so they start acting like some school kid who wanted to be the cool guy but realised he couldn't be the cool guy, so he starts jumping up and down making monkey noises, shouting, "Octopus gun! Octopus gun! herpa! derpa! derpa!" so everyone looks at him and laughs. But they are not laughing with him they're laughing at him.

Personally, I'm laughing with them considering how much fun sh*t they've put in and the fact that they know they are not trying to be serious. I'm looking at R* right now and thinking where the f*ck did those fun college days go with San Andreas and Vice City.

Yeah, me too. They should advertise it as a good alternative to GTA (for people that want things so crazy in a sandbox crime game that R* won't even touch the ideas) instead of advertising it to be a superior GTA. Either way, Saints Row: The Third is going to be extremely fun! I don't think it will take too much of my time from Battlefield 3, but it's going to be amazing for when I don't want to play multiplayer games (or if the internet is down).

They don't need to. Rockstar would make V's debut trailer or whatever so good, that we'll just forget about comparing it to other games.

Anyways, finally pre-ordered this game along with Skyrim.

We don't know, maybe they are going to call it GTA The fifth.

I already decided to get this, but I am unsure what platform I should get it on. PS3, 360 or PC? Any notable differences that one should be aware of, or are the three versions near identical?

Well they say PC version won't be a port and it supports multiple monitors (Eyefinity and such) and video capturing. If I were you I'd get a PC version. All that under the assumption that the game will be playable, unlike SR2. They said it's not a port so many times, I actually believe them. In a long run it's not profitable to lie to your fans like that. Also, PC version will support a controller if you don't like playing with mouse and keyboard.

PS3 and XBOX versions will be just about on par, the xbox version may be slightly better.

PC, If your computer is good, will kick consoles out of the water, you can increase/decrease all the settings to your needs, and like i said if your computer is good you can have settings several times higher than console.

If they are saying that its actually going to be worth while on a PC now I'd go for that personally. Apart from the obvious option to change the different settings to make the game seem more awesome you also have the chance of custom content which I think is always a winner over consoles. Plus you'll be able to play with a controller on the PC so yeah, I'd probably go for that if you don't mind waiting (not sure if PC will come out at the same time?) and don't mind not playing on consoles. Considering I've played the previous games on 360 I don't think I could swap to PC now. Would just feel to weird.

All of the versions of the game will play the same(hopefully). PC gets mods and the PS3 version gets some exclusive content, so beyond that they should all be the same, and it really depends on what you prefer to play on.

Why would you bother to say the real age if you aren't 18 or over? Kinda stupid. Oh also, I was in a supermarket today and I saw that an Xbox 360 magazine had a 4 page article on SR3. Says the respect we earn in game can be used to buy ammo, duel wield weapons and all that jazz. There was also something else that sounded awesome but I cant exactly remember.

Sounds cool. icon14.gif

Can ammo still be purchased in the Friendly Fire shops too?

If there's one thing that thq/volition have done perfectly it's keeping the "skeptical gta fanboys" like me interested in this game, they've definitely kept putting out a lot of videos and other stuff, and each time they do the game looks better.

Damn, can't they put some nice babe into this "naked" trailers. Obese guy isn't the thing that I want to see. This game will be bought mostly by 12-16 years old guys, anyways.

Stupid thing: Guy was free falling without parachute on his back, then he magically spawned it on his back. They should fix things like these.

I'm sure you have to install itunes for you to download it. And I think that was the mag I was reading about in the supermarket. As for the buying of ammo in stores still, I'm really not sure. It sounds like you can buy ammo with respect (such as exploding bullets) or just buy normal ones with money. Although I'm sure if you wanted more stock of the exploding kind it would also be from the money you earn to spend on.

Yes!! You can throw people? I've always wanted to do that in GTA. This game is looking soo good. Never thought I'd get so excited about SR. biggrin.gif

OK. Never played that game.

Does anyone know if you can recruit some homies in this game? I'd love to throw a few people off a skyscraper.

Thanks Rebel. It would make sense for explosive ammunition to be unlocked with respect, then available for purchase with cash. Afterall, repeating fully completed activities in SR1 & SR2 yields further cash, but no extra respect.

From one to three, depending on your respect.

No worries Kalasinn. I'm sure that mag was the one though, had a pretty awesome front cover of SR3 I actually had to do a double check at it. It sounds like most things you need in this game will be unlocked/bought if you have enough respect for it, then if you need it ever again it would probably go straight into the home weapon/clothes cache like it did in previous games and you buy ammo either from the store or you again, unlock unlimited ammo for a certain type of weapon through a side objective like the Assassins game or whatever else.

I would say, it's more than likely that he will be one of the homies you can call. Previous games gave us 7 homies to call.

Cool, i'm happy with that. On an unrelated noted, i hope Foreign Power is more like it was in Saints Row when there was about 3x more cars for sale than in SR2. Plus it was great that you could aspire to eventually buy the $100k Fer De Lance supercar based on the Ferrari Enzo. I really want Foreign Power in SR3 to be similar to how it was in SR, with several extra new luxury/supercar models added, along with the couple of nice additions from SR2 such as the Superiore. Is it only me who wants Foreign Power prices to have a top end of about $300k this time, to give us more to look forward to when we're super rich?
