Sunrise Driver
Seeing as THQ published a lot of PC games before and Volition, Inc. developed many PC games before, I believe Saints Row The Third (SR3) will be a well-optimized PC game. (sorry I just couldn't resist) Ok let's see: The only games Volition have developed for PC - FreeSpace 1,2. Ported - Red Faction 1, Summoner and The Punisher (not sure about Volition's involvement in porting). RF2 - port by Outrage Ent. SR2 - by CD Projekt Localization Studio (worst port ever) RF Guerilla and Armageddon - by Reactor Zero. I don't care who's porting SR The Third, just make it right and in time with console release. First of all, developed by all means includes ported as porting requires a little development as well. So yeah , they developed a lot of PC games before. FreeSpace 1,2 Red Faction 1, Summoner and The Punisher Second, RF Armageddon PC version is being developed by Volition, Inc. So it is definitely safe to say that Volition, Inc. is developing both console and PC version of SR The Third Edited February 23, 2011 by lh1
Sunrise Driver
So it is definitely safe to say that Volition, Inc. is developing both console and PC version of SR The Third I hope so. But RFA is ported by Reactor Zero. At least Steam's store page says that.
boxmonster
That promo image better not be like the cool Cadillac and Oldsmobile I see every time SR2 starts up, what a slap in the face.

IceWolf729
I agree, it looks more like a (new) Bentley Flying Spur knock-off. I would love to have one in my garage !

As from what I can see from the steam page and the steam search result., it clearly states the developer of RFA is Volition, Inc. I believe Steam must have edited the website. boxmonster
Are you guys calling that thing that looks like a photoshop of a 90s Mercedes a Bentley?
tubbs51
It looks too boxy to be a benz. MBs tend to have more curves than Bentleys. The large front end makes it look like a Bentley to me. I cant really think of a 90's benz with a big front end like that. boxmonster
That's why I said 90s. Anyways, to reiterate what I've been saying: does no one remember how much better the artwork looks than the actual game? Or more importantly, how nothing in the game resembles anything close to it (by this I especially mean the vehicles).

A proper announcement hopefully in store! Oooohhhhh. Can't wait! Could you give a link though? Can't see it anywher on the SR2 site, which I'm guessing is the wrong site. My guess is its either a trailer/teaser or announcing they will show a trailer/gameplay at E3.

Narcis_speed6
Those aren't screenshots, are drawn artworks, which don't represent the final product.
Jonesizzle
I have been playing Saints Row 2 and I have been hooked, more so than GTA IV had me hooked sad to say. The activities and customization alone stomps the sh*t outta IV, only thing I'm not down with is car physics and it taking twenty headshots to kill some enemies, but it's all good. Will be looking forward to this game, still haven't beat SR2 or even played SR, but will check out.
boxmonster
Those aren't screenshots, are drawn artworks, which don't represent the final product. I know that, thats why was saying they mean nothing about what to expect from the game. I still find it frustrating and misleading; games of this gen still relying on artwork over the actual graphics. I can understand stylistic reasons but the old Saints Row artwork didn't even carry the same mood as the game. Just a nitpick I'm blowing out of proportion though. Daz
I hope to hear they have updated the engine to make driving better. And that they have scrapped the map and made a brand new one. But really anything they do should be awesome. As long as it still has the same co-op as 2, everything should be gravy.

papanesta
Official Game Informer covers revealed. For subscribers: For normal people: I know which one I'd prefer... Also, even though Proud posted a link, I'll quote from THQ's official press release: STRAP IT ON THIS HOLIDAY WITH SAINTS ROW®: THE THIRD THQ and Volition Inc. Take Open-World Action Over the Top and Then Some in Next Installment of Vaunted Franchise. AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – March 3, 2011 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) and Volition, Inc. today announced the upcoming release of Saints Row: The Third, the highly-anticipated next installment in the multi-million unit selling Saints Row franchise. Developed by Volition, Inc., Saints Row: The Third is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC this holiday season. “Saints Row: The Third puts you on top of the world, right at the beginning of the game, with all the perks that go along with being the head of an elite criminal organization,” said Danny Bilson, THQ Executive Vice President, Core Games. “There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm.” The first details of Saints Row: The Third will be revealed in the exclusive cover story in Game Informer’s April issue, shipping to subscribers in early March 2011. About Saints Row: The Third Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Strap it on. Bolded an interesting part. Firefly8000
Awesome, looks like they're getting rid of the small-time gangster theme. I just hope they pull it off right. Also, just one gang? I hope there are some smaller gangs in the new city too or 'The Syndicate' better be some nasty mothers. I hope there are some smaller gangs in the new city too or 'The Syndicate' better be some nasty mothers. They have "pawns all over the globe" so I can imagine other 'gangs' or families will be heavily involved. Sorta how Ultor played a part in SR2.
