GTA IV has stopped responding.

Recommended Posts

Okay people .. Listen up, The last GFWL Patch made my game crash on startup. And i couldn't play it basicly, I tried manually upgrading and stuff which didn't work out.

So i figured i could reinstall .. That is exacly what i did. Uninstalled GFWL, Social Club, GTA IV and everything associated. I then installed it all and updated and then tried running the game. Every time i do i get " GTAIV.exe has stopped responding windows is bla bla bla " Tried running as admin, Diffrent exes etc.

Can't be my computer because of the fact ive played this game 1000 + Hours .... Yeah that much.

Seriously people, Anyone care to help me .. I want to play GTA IV So f*cking bad. confused.gif

Yes, that's the one. Registry and files.

I cleaned lots of cookies, Internet history and such files. I've come to the Registry mate.

But im kind of worried ... I have alot of registry faults it seems. Missing files and such. I can click repair if i want to, But i dont think its safe. What if my registry f*cks up.

Sorry to worry and to waste your time on me when you could spend and help others confused.gif But should i be worried?

When you fix registry, the program will offer to create backup for you. You can save a .reg file and merge it into registry later, if you encounter any issues, but the risk is extremely low.

You should also clear the temporary folders.

I repaired everything, Thank you for the help. Ill install the game now again because i uninstalled it.

Ill report back with results.

Reinstalled the WHOLE Game, Applied Patch 7 and GFWL Update yet if i start it says GTAIV Has stopped working.

Then i tried with LaunchGTAIV.exe like before and ive got a problem saying " SecuLauncher: failed to start application. [2000] "

Try securom diagnostics tool https://support.securom.com/analysis.php

You could also try removing all VC++ packages and installing that one again, but that may break some other game/program.

Okay i just got it .. Scanned/searched or whatever.

I still dont understand what to do though. Add programs etc? .. I dont see anything GTA related.

Are you sure the copy you're trying to run is legal? Typically illegal copies get Securom issues. See this GTA:IV Activation support page to revoke your activation, and then when you reinstall you can link it back to your RGSC account.

This old thread has some things you could try for fixing the launcher problem, namely Reinstalling Visual C++ 2005 SP1.

Otherwise, this forum post shows another way to fix the problem.

In the future, use the search function on this site, and general Google searches.
