Sonichu_fan
Hello all, I purchased GTAIV for steam, and after screwing around with Social Club, windows live, and all that stupid sh*t for over an hour I've finally called uncle and I'm resorting to these forums to get some answers. Basically, the game is telling me at startup that I need to have Social Club running. Now, I have a windows live account, social club account, Steam account, and XBOX live account and I have no idea what this game wants me to do. I couldn't contact Steam support (which would have been a mercy) and now I'm asking my fellow users (sufferers) for a little help. Any help in this you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I think GTAIV might be one of the worst games to install, because most other games have errors so they don't run, GTAIV makes excuses so it doesn't have to run. Vin.
What exactly do you need help with? When you first start it up via Steam you log into Social Club and the game should start up. Once it has started up, you press the Home key on your keyboard and log into GFWL. You also need to go to the GFWL website to link up your GFWL and Social Club account. Once done, you should then have access to Multiplayer as well as Social Club features. But for your info, you don't need to be signed into either Social Club or GFWL to play Single Player. Does this help? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468096-social-club-seriously/#findComment-1060307453 Share on other sites
Sonichu_fan
Hey Vin, Thanks for your quick reply. I appreciate it. What exactly do you need help with? When you first start it up via Steam you log into Social Club and the game should start up. I log into social club, but I still keep getting the error message that it isn't running. It isn't an app I need to install, so I can't reinstall it. Once it has started up, you press the Home key on your keyboard and log into GFWL. You also need to go to the GFWL website to link up your GFWL and Social Club account. Once done, you should then have access to Multiplayer as well as Social Club features. I linked this, it's done and it's the same account I use for my email address. The actual program isn't running. But for your info, you don't need to be signed into either Social Club or GFWL to play Single Player.Does this help? True, all I want to play is single player. But Steam keeps telling me that I *need* to have social club running, it is a requirement to play the game. When I try to sign into single player, I get the same message. Vin.
When you first start up Steam, press Play on GTA IV, and the small Social Cub box comes up. You get an option Sign In or don't Sign In, but you get single player only? I'm not at home so I cant show you what I mean with pictures. Sonichu_fan
Right, no matter if I choose to sign in or not, the game demands that I have social club running in the background. mkey82
Two things to try 1. use xliveless and rename paul.dll in the game directory to something else, like pauline.dll 2. or install a separate RGSC application (link in my sig, the smaller download) and run it in the background Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468096-social-club-seriously/#findComment-1060308130 Share on other sites
