What's hapening forum?

What is your favorite GTA clone?

If you don't know what a GTA clone is,then read this.

Grand Theft Auto clone is a genre of sandbox action adventure video games characterized by their likeness to the Grand Theft Auto series, in which players may find and

use a variety of vehicles and weapons while roaming freely in an open world setting.

My favorite GTA clone is Mafia 2.

You can't choose a GTA game.

Hmmm nice bike

Probably the Saints Row series. I'll admit it, I don't think the storylines are that great (I think they're just "OK" if anything), but some of the main missions were good, and the side missions and activities are also pretty fun ("Insurance Fraud" and "Fuzz" were probably my favorite). I liked the cheats, as well, and co-op was usually good when doing pretty much anything (until the game froze from your partner using too many cheats or causing too many explosions suicidal.gif).

Anyone think the expression 'GTA Clone' is a bucket of your ma's vaginal discharge? How disrespectful do you think it is to call a game a clone based off another series especially if the game is 10 years later (Mafia II) than GTA III.

I mean, do you think if Rockstar didn't make a sandbox game someone else wouldn't have eventually?

Am I being an asshole? Does chocolate taste nice with with dead babies???

Claude Speed.
This thread is retarded and most mentioned titles were even before modern styled GTA games (and/or franchises that started before GTAIII).

That's a common misconception but there was a 3D free roaming game named Body Harvest released in '98, developed by DMA Design (now Rockstar North). It wasn't GTA but it was made by the same people, so in a way, it was the father of GTA.

Nobody mentioned Mafia (I)? Shame on you! And I also agree on Scarface: The World Is Yours (while it has horrible driving mechanics it's actually a great game), Godfather I (again, horrible driving mechanics but pretty entertaining game).

So every sandbox game is a gta clone, and every shooter game is a doom clone?

anyway, my vote goes for Mafia 1&2.

And in my opinion MAFIA(2) is not a sandbox/open world game. confused.gif

You can drive anywhere while in mission.

I don't think that but wiki does.

Dude I did not name the term "gta clone" myself!

Wikipedia did read This thing over here

You do know that everyone can edit Wikipedia?

But they change it back when they notice it

I know, but you choose to use that expression. Something like what Vecis mentioned would have been more suitable. I'm not having a go, just saying buddy. Also about the link, just because there's a facebook page doesn't mean I agree with GTA Clone.

I may as well contribute too. I liked Mafia II aside from the obvious let downs and for two or 3 weeks, Just Cause 2 was amazing. Decent graphics a big f*ck off map and things to get creative with in the envoirnment - grappling hooking people to the back of your car or to a gas cylinder and the shooting the cylinder. Good times!

Also, I enjoyed Driver: Parallel Lines. It had some great innovations that GTA then had after. I always have to mention the 'face recognition' system they had. Basically when the cops are after you they identify either you or your car or both. So if you were seen driving car X they can't really see your face in the car but if you run in a laneway and switch cars you can loose the heat.

I love Parallel Lines, I remember I could do a 180 turn while being chased by the police then shoot them with a rocket or something.

My favorite GTA clone has to be either True Crime NYC or Mafia II.
