Realistic money

I don't know about other GTA players but I'm sick of unlimited money when you complete the story. I think Rockstar should think about this and In GTA V improve things on the money side.

So who else thinks that we should have a realistic amount of money?

I don't remember there been unlimited money after you complete the game, apart from VC and SA, but that was property income. I guess it all depends on the story, such as if you aqquire properties throughtout the game then you should make a steady income. My guess is that they gave us this income so that our reward for completing the story was enough money to go on rampages and never run out of money to spend on weapons. If we didn't have any money after the missions, then slowly we'd run out of money, meaning we'd have to quit the game.

At the end of IV Niko gets a ridiculous amount of money.

Yeah, he does. I remember having allot of cash, more than enough, yet Niko was always set on working for the small-time to earn more money. Either Rockstar didn't think this through or Niko is a greedy asshole! It seems by the end of the game Niko is still a scum-bag immigrant.

Still stick with my idea that we are given all this cash at the end of the story so that we don't just put the game down, but attempt to buy as many weapons as possible and create as much carnage as possible. With no missions to do, your income stops.

For me, when the game was over, it was totally boring. At that point I spent most of my time in multi-player, although when I would go back to single-player I began to use cheats, even though I never would have found myself running out of cash unless I played single-player for hours on end each day of the week.

I wasn't bothered much by having so much money at the end of IV. I enjoyed having $300k at my disposal and it did give me a sense of power, especially when I'd go to buy weapons and I could just click on everything without having to worry about affordability.

The problem is more so not having enough to spend it on. It's a shame there weren't very expensive items for purchase. And I think that's what we're all banking on in the next GTA.

How do you define realism within the realm of a criminal empire?

I never really noticed a problem with the money aside from having nothing to spend it on.

Meh, I'd rather have an more money to be honest. However, if we end with a lot of money, there needs to be something to spend it on. That's the problem with IV. Not so much that you made too much money, but that there was nothing to do with it. No point in saying you need the money if you aren't going to use it.

The Money needs to be more realistic & we need something to actually spend the Money on, like buying Apartments & Vehicles etc etc.

After finishing IV with Niko, I had a lot of money. After finishing with Johnny and Luise, I had about $1000-$2000 at the end, so u don't have unlimited money.

If u look at the III-era u had unlimited money, but only becouse of the incomes, witch u didn't have in IV-era .... at least for now.

Despite being a ridiculous amount of money, it's not unlimited. I'm still messing around on my "story complete" saved slot (still doing side missions for Jacob, Brucie, random encounters, etc.) and I'd finished the game with around $500k and now I'm down to about $75k because rocket launchers cost so damn much.

edit: Besides, having too much money isn't really the problem, it's the lack of things to spend it on.

definitely! I would want it.

Like having to decide: pay rent, buy these clothes or rather repair my car or buy ammo...

I'd like that.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a flying sh*t that there wasn't that much to spend money on in GTA IV?

Infact most of the time I forgot I had over $400,000. Certainly not something that agitated me.

The only other use for money IMO is assets that are tied in with the story. Stuff like clothes, hair cuts, tattoos etc are all novelties, and I personally think are a poor excuse to spend money on.

Other than assets/properties GTA IV wasn't missing that much that was used before. Atleast the money was put to better use than GTA III/LCS.

Since this is a topic about realistic money lets talk about the asset/property side of things shall we?

If this comes back I want it handled much more realistically. No more paying $10,000 for the average house. That's just stupid. They should be atleast $120,000-$150,000. More luxurious houses should be about $220,000-$300,000, and then finally mansions, penthouses etc should be over $800,000 with ease.

This should coincide with assets too. Lower forms of business should be relatively in-expensive, and go up in price the higher they are within the criminal world.

This of course depends what type of game it is too. GTA IV wasn't a rags to riches game which is why it didn't have all the extra sh*t to spend money on. Mainly the bare essentials. A story similar to GTA IV's where the primary drive is to get revenge wouldn't make sense if it had assets/property etc thrown in.

If the primary focus is the protagonist wanting to make a name for themselves than all the other novelties to make you feel you're living the life definitely make sense.

Another use for money is buying/selling drugs like in CTW.

Yup. There should rent on properties, etc. And not so much pay out for missions.

You don't need rent if you own the apartment.

Limiting money throughout the story was well done...at the start at least, it was tricky to not blow all your money on good weapons. towards the end there was plenty of money, i think i like it this way, so that money is not an issue.

There should be more ways to earn money through side missions, and something more to spend on, like buying cars and properties.
