drious
I cant get gta iv to work on any of the 3 p.c's in my house(2 laptops) and a dextop so i was wondering if any new laptop that was produce in middle-late 2010(HP) will support gta iv,i cant be going round asking sales peeps for the computers specs or can i get a list of hp laptops that will support this fun, loving but stress fully annoying game without any additional modifications i'm really getting frustrated by this game,R* why did you have to make it so fun and the best Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/ Share on other sites
mkey82
Any rather expensive laptop will do fine, probably. You are looking for a laptop with a decent CPU (like an i5) and a discrete but strong GPU, not that cheap Intel stuff. Something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834200049 gaming laptops are just too damned expensive. YankeesPwnMets
Yep.. only gaming laptops will play games properly. HP, Dell, Acer etc lappys are made for work and office use. A desktop will play this game better at a cheaper price. You would get a MUCH stronger desktop with the 2100 bucks for that gaming laptop then that Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/#findComment-1060301875 Share on other sites
drious
tanx yall but alien ware is too expensive and by ur replies buying a new hp lappy might not help sooo i guess i'll settle with goofing around on san andreas :'( Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/#findComment-1060302479 Share on other sites
YankeesPwnMets
Yea, but why dont you go use your money on desktops? Why are so many users insisting on getting laptops for games? If you want, spend half the money you have on a cheap laptop for work, school, using the internet etc (ex Core i3 w/ Integrated graphics) and get more money and spend it on a new desktop Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/#findComment-1060302726 Share on other sites

I haven't included some tidbits, you can add about $100 to the sum. And for extra $30 a CPU with unlocked multiplier can be had, which would be the way to go as these processors seem to overclock nicely. The 6950 can be unlocked to a 6970 and thus you can get even more power for the same money. The 6950 can be unlocked to a 6970 and thus you can get even more power for the same money. The issue I see here is the RAM. I'm having a real hard time accepting that 1.7 - 1.9 V RAM won't destroy something else on the motherboard or PC. A 6950 to 6970 BIOS Flash isn't guaranteed to work, because a Radeon 6950 is 6 Pin + 6 Pin, while a Radeon 6970 has 8 Pin + 6 Pin, so I wouldn't just go buy a Radeon 6950 and be sure that it'll become a Radeon 6970 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/#findComment-1060304421 Share on other sites
mkey82
I'm having a really hard time accepting that RAM would fry anything. Even if 6950 doesn't get unlocked, it overclocks very nicely and it's cheaper then it's 570 counterpart. Stinky12
Most business line of notebooks will use workstation graphics. Check the specs carefully to see what type of graphic card it uses. mkey82
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 530v with 512 MB dedicated video memory http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-...0v.30290.0.html I wouldn't get that for gaming purposes. YankeesPwnMets
Most business line of notebooks will use workstation graphics. Check the specs carefully to see what type of graphic card it uses. I took a look at the HP Site http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF...52-4145330.html uses a Mobility Radeon 530V 512 MB I read some reviews and it basically has the same performance as a Mobility Radeon 4350, so it won't be strong enough to play. I want to know: Do you actually need a laptop, or are you just insisting to get one? Unless your getting an uber expensive lappy like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...2-192-_-Product your probably not going to get the performance you want out of it. Like I said before, if you really need a laptop for work/school, get a cheap, entry level laptop http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...5-977-_-Product and save up for a desktop sometime later. If you don't need a laptop, then go get a desktop and with the right parts the game will actually play much better then a laptop at the same price. This rig will definitely run GTA IV, and it will run very well if you overclock that video card to about 1Ghz with that great cooler Gigabyte provided. Some of the specs aren't as good as mkey's cuz I added a case and dvd burner which the rig above is missing http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWi...Number=16364526 The two 120mm fans should be put on the side of the HAF case as intake to provide the GPU with more air Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/#findComment-1060308328 Share on other sites

YankeesPwnMets
o.k just saw this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...5-977-_-Product thanks yankeewpwnmeets No. Not even close. Like I said above, you need one of those uber expensive gaming laptops. The one above is a work laptop if you want to get that and save up for a new desktop, which I recommend to the guy who started this topic, but you go save up allowance money and get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...2-192-_-Product This lappy will run GTA IV, and I can't find any cheaper ones that will. MSI, Alienware, those lappys are gamers. Dell, HP, Acer, etc are work laptops and they usually feature ok CPU but terrible graphics Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467839-a-new-2010-laptop/#findComment-1060310152 Share on other sites
