killab2oo5
Phenom II X4 3.8GHz GTX 460 1GB 8GB DDR3 RAM Windows 7 Latest GTAIV 1.7 patch (BoGT) Before adding the extra 4GB of ram the game ran fine...no problems. Now I'm up to 8GB and for some reason the framerate, at the same settings, have turned to crap and I can't play 1 minute without the game crashing to the desktop. Help? Jass5991
I'm guessing that your Windows 7 is 32-Bit. If it is, then you can only add a maximum of 4GB, because it can only use up to 3.5GB. If it isn't 32-bit but 64-bit, then a restart is probably in order, and a reinstallation of the game Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467837-added-4gb-of-rambad-framerate-and-crash-now/#findComment-1060301681 Share on other sites

I also had a 550w PSU...but thought it was 650w previously so I believe that's the problem too. Have a 750w Corsair coming today. D: Hopefully that'll fix everything. mkey82
If it's a normal quality PSU, 550W is plenty for that setup. Did you check in the MOBO specs how much RAM does it support? OverTheBelow
If you're also getting bluescreens and general stutters in computer performance, the ram is bad and you should get it replaced. If not, try deleting the settings file or starting a new game.
