KryogenicNapalm
Picked up GTA IV yesterday at walmart, I heard it was plagued by bugs etc, but after watching my friend play it seamlessly on his Alienware that has lower specs than mine, I figured what the hell and picked it up. Installed it, went to play it, got practically 1 Frame per 10 seconds, updated the game, and it helped a bit but still im running below 10 FPS. So I lowered all my settings to LOW and I got around 15 FPS and absolutely horrid lag spikes. Which brings me to where I am now. All today ive been trying to find a fix, and ive tried many of the recommended ones and still havent had any improvements. The part that pisses me off the most though is that im able to run Crysis completely maxed out with an average of 50+ FPS, no lag, no stutters etc (Mind you im aware it was a game meant for pc and not a console port like GTA IV but still). Checklist: Updated game to latest patch (1.7) CHECK! Updated Video drivers CHECK! My specs: RAM: 6 GB DDR3 1066MhZ Video card: Nvidia GTX470 1gb DDR5 overclocked to 4GB total power (Memory+GPU speed) MOBO: ASUS RAMPAGE III Extreme CPU: Intel i7 950 Quad core stock at 3.07 Ghz. HDD: 1 tb with 683 GB free. PSU: 1000W Coolermaster Silent pro M OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467829-beast-pc-getting-lag/ Share on other sites
Girish
Apparently, it's the latest patch that is causing performance issues. I noticed a severe drop in my fps after updating my game. From what I've heard, the 1.0.4.0 patch is the best, performance wise. However, to rollback to the 4th patch, you'll have to reinstall the game. mkey82
How fresh is your OS installation? You should probably check some older GPU driver to see if that makes any difference. Yeah I fixed it partially but I wasn't getting the FPS I should be, but im re-installing now and then im gunna patch to 1.4 and see how things go. Frogzilla
I'm using a old AMD x2 4400+ and a HD5830 1gb video card. I get over 30fps. Something else is slowing down your computer. OverTheBelow
First off, try turning off Hyperthreading. Sometimes it can cause issues with this game in particular. Secondly, I know it takes long but try reinstalling. Unless you have night shadows & shadows on 'very high' (you need to keep night shadows off and shadows at high for good FPS), I don't know what else to try. Muggy
Hi, new here anyway, obtained the GTA full pack via Steam yesterday evening.. and installed 5 of the games started up GTA IV and game ran for about 8 minutes then just froze no movement.. ambient sounds were still running had no BSoD but still had to cold boot my PC.. I am sure that my PC meets the recommended requirements. CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 2.5Ghz RAM: DDR2 6400 800Mhz 4GB GPU: Geforce GTX 460 1.5GB DDR5 O/S: Windows XP Home Edition SP3 Having got the games yesterday they should have all been up to date as far as patches and fixes are concerned but GTA IV including Episodes from Liberty City freeze after a few minutes of game play.. Are there any suggestions for getting these to run without any hitches please. Many thanks Edited January 22, 2011 by Muggy Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/467829-beast-pc-getting-lag/#findComment-1060306852 Share on other sites
