XxRANGAxX 0
Hi everyone i have just bought san andreas of steam and when i run the game and set display option there is no option for 1920x1080, i have tried seting launch options, ive tried using the 1.01 patch but wen i verify the location of where i installed the game and error message comes up saying "old file dose not exist" and ive tried running the patch as administrator and it still dosnt work. I remember i had the same problem with splinter cell conviction where i had to go to an .ini file and change the display in there and that worked, is there somthing like that i can do with san andreas? any help would be much appreciated. Adler 55
Here's Ryosuke's Display Settings Extender: http://hotmist.ddo.jp/plugin/exdisp/index.html The can run SA on the resolution you desire with that.

If it’s V1, you might need to apply the V1.01 patch before you can use higher resolutions.Up-grading to V1.01 will affect the ability to Mod the game.
radioman 19
The reason you get the Error with the 1.1 patch, is the simple fact that you have the Steam version, which is V3, and because of that it is completely Un-Downgradeable and Un-Moddable. Plus, the 1.1 patch is only for V1 games(to remove the Hot Coffee files as well as add a few updates that were available in V2, but not V1)-as such, V2 and V3(this is the one you have) DO NOT need the patch, as it already contains the latest updates....Just a heads up... As far as the Resolution goes, your Video card and/or monitor probably does not support that resolution.? What Video card do you have? and what vram does it have? and what kind of monitor is it? Also, I believe discussion of cracks is a violation of the GTAForums rules(Pinned in the Announcements section)...? Besides, downgraders are like no-cd/dvd cracks, they are a violation of Statues 815.06(A Felony)-unless you distribute said downgrader/crack, then it becomes a Federal offense...just a friendly heads up from your friendly Law Enforcement Officer... Credits to the Criminal Justice Sourcebook 2009-2010 Edition for the Statues information.. Edited January 8, 2011 by radioman
XxRANGAxX 0
@Adler, sorry but i dont know what i am supposed to do with that, also like every other game is there an .ini file for san andreas that i can go into and manually change it? @radioman, yes i know my screen is a HD 23.6 inch screen, yes my comp could probably run 3 san andreas's its awesome so there shouldn't be a problem with hardware Edited January 8, 2011 by XxRANGAxX

Just a heads up...Get rid of the 1.1 patch, as it is not needed anyway, since V3 is more up to date than V2 and most certainly more up to date than V1. The Patch is ONLY for V1 games... lil weasel 2,761
Why do you really need that resolution. The games graphics are crude by GTA IV standards and most other newer games. Curves rarely exist as other than a series of straight lines. Polygons are ugly, fingers are fused. You won't improve the picture by adding more pixels.
XxRANGAxX 0
@lil weasel, i want it at that resolution because i want it to be full screen the resolution i am running now as black at the sides and i dont like that I am going to ask again is there an .ini file where i can change the resolution. @radioman, yes i know because of steam i cant downgrade and yes it is at version 3 which means it should have 1920x1080 right? well it dosnt that is my problem
Adler 55
To use Ryosuke's Display Settings Extender, you need JernejL's ASI Loader (or the one that installing CLEO provides) then you must place exdisp.asi in your GTA San Andreas folder. When you select resolutions in the menu after installing the ASI, you can select the 1920x1080 resolution. EDIT I'm not sure if the ASI Loader or the Display Settings Extender will work on Steam but it's worth trying out because there is no INI file or any other way I know of to get that resolution. ANOTHER EDIT I believe this topic provides details on how to mod V3/Steam version of SA though nobody posted results of the method. It should be in the last post of the topic. You should try that out if you have problems with the ASI not working. Edited January 8, 2011 by Adler
radioman 19
i want it at that resolution because i want it to be full screen the resolution i am running now as black at the sides and i dont like that That usually means that the Widescreen option is ON, so check that and if it is ON, turn it to OFF. The game is full screen on ALL resolution settings by default....
lil weasel 2,761
I can understand wanting full screen. But I find it odd that you are getting side bars, as all of the monitors I have regardless of configuration fill the screen. Are you by chance using a TV as a monitor. I have a TV (with multiple inputs) that has a settings for TV (side bars), Movie (Adjusts to signal), and Widescreen (fills the screen with any signal) Edited January 9, 2011 by lil weasel
SarahPilko 32
My game is originally v2. I got a new PC and the first time I installed GTA SA with my cd, no mods or downgrade, I actually had the option 1920x1080. I then downgraded to v1.0 because of MTA, I longer had no option but only up to 1680x1020, can't complain though because it is still amazing. Even I re-install the whole GTA SA, I never got the 1920x1080 option back but it doesn't bother me at all I think that was a fix to v2?
Girish 3,773
I think that was a fix to v2? Yes, v2 copies of the game incorporate all fixes included in the v1.01 patch which was released for version 1 copies of the game and included support for higher resolutions. You won't improve the picture by adding more pixels. lil weasel, I've been wondering about this for some time, and you answered my questions. My screen res is 1920 x 1280, and when I use that res in the game, many textures look more defined (buildings, atmospheric effects). What I can't quite fine-tune is the balance between using the "x16" or "x32" choices and antialiasing levels. Some combinations look better but make the game lag. Others look horrible but the action swims along. I was thinking that my graphics card was the problem but you made me realize it's just a matter of tweaking an old game...
