An updated DYOM and an active community would certainly be motivating. I have so many great ideas I'd love to bring to life but currently DYOM doesn't feel like it worth my time.

I sure hope 2018 brings progress to this sub-forum. God knows DYOM needs it.

Found that Actor custom Health is also working for the older version. Here is the link to the file. My advice to not edit the Plot otherwise you will face crash.

I just declared these little photos to slap on those faces who were talking behind me about my poor skills and satisfying at my rejection. Unfortunately I'm not gonna release it because I'm rejected but health system works at every version.

You made small, but very useful updates to the DYOM mod, I think they are great. That being said, I must say I'm disappointed after reading your comment above. What you made is a fresh addition to the DYOM mod, but you have to understand that it means nothing to the rest of the community if you're not going to release it. However, unfortunately, even if you decided to release it, there is still potential issue with crossing Dutchy's and Patrick's rights as they're the official owners of the original mod and with that, they are the ones to approve it. That could be kinda hard considering the circumstances. Nevertheless, I'm glad people are still trying to contribute to DYOM and it would be an useful update for sure, but as I said, it means nothing to the community if you don't want/can't release it.

@Jimmy Leppard - I can release this in a minute. I have no problem with it. Last time I know what happened to me. Permission is required. Maybe these little stuff are not changing the old script but these little updates can "welcome back" to many people and I'm sure they will support this. More support = More chances of approval!

Well you got my support. I don't mean to sound harsh or anything but you're currently doing more for this mod than Dutchy or Patrick have done in the five years.

Springfield, nobody is against a new DYOM version, everyone supports it from the get go, there is no question about that at all. Thing is, that doesn't have to be the reason for Dutchy and Patrick to hand over their hard work that they developed over the years, that's what you have to understand.

 

Support from the designing community is not in question in the slightest, you have it, anyone in your position would have it. However, you're the only one who updated the latest DYOM version and you're also the only one who has to speak to Dutchy and Patrick and get their approval, that's the point here. It's about what they want to do in the situation since they're the original creators and that's their right, no matter how harsh that sounds to you.

My point is not only on the support but I want you guys to have a small talk with the developers instead of me. It will be thoroughly absurd if I'm the only one having a small talk. This is what I mean with the "People and Moderators Support". Just like you folks had a small talk in the case of a "new era/survey". Do it again but for this case because we (everyone) needs a new version.

There is no reason in rejecting it. When all the designers, even mods are supporting you. Your mod will be accepted.

To be honest, yeah - our girl Dutchy n our boi Patrick got the right to disallow any modifications made to their developed mod.

But it is also unfair to us - the community. If they busy with life then they should just give the rights/permission to someone, make them an official co-dev or something and let them update the mod. (under their commands or view, of course)

SOMEBODY, for the love of God, contact our devs already and ask them that. If DYOM has a potential update with cool new features n animations then hot diggity dog - we got ourselves some missions to design then

Then just redirect them to the lounge to see the support for themselves. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that you should be the one who's making that call.

If I tell you guys that this version supports more features with some bugs?

 

 

Updates:

-Play with 200 Objectives

-Play with 200 Objects

-Play with 100 Pickups (New Pickups)

-Play with 100 Cars

-Play with 200 Actors

 

Explanation of Updates:

-Now you can add 200 Objectives instead of 100

-Now you can add 200 Objects instead of 100

-Now you can add 100 Pickups instead of 50

-Now you can add 100 cars instead of 50

-Now you can add 200 Actors instead of 100

 

Bugs/Crashes

-Sound System Bug (SD)
-Storyline Crash (Incompatible with the version)s

-Explosion Object Crash (Explosion Type "Old" will crash the game

 

Explanation of bugs:

-There is a very convenient and understandable trick how to use SD in the version. I will post the video If I receive approval.

-Observing at the current circumstances It seems that Storyline is completely incompatible with the version because getting my hands on the source code was not fairly easy. Some removal of codes were required with the hex editor in order to access to the source code. I'm still figuring out a way to fix this.

-Explosion Type "Old" Crashes because of breaking the limits of the mod.

 

Actually, all these crashes also depend on the limits which are broked.

Springfield, it would be great to have expanded objective number lmits etc., but if that means removing some other features that are currently present in DYOM 8.1, then maybe that's the reason why Dutchy and Patrick stopped working on the mod. I remember a conversation I had with Patrick quite a while back where he said that they can't push limits of DYOM anymore. I'm pretty sure the reason they stopped making a new version is because it's too much stress on the mod to the point it's not working.

 

I don't think Dutchy and Patrick would have stuck with current objective/object/car/pickup limits for many versions and not expand them if it was possible to do so without having major bug problems in other areas of the mod, such as stability. You're flirting with the imagination of all of us here, no question, but honestly, if adding those features you listed in your post means removing some of the current features DYOM has to offer and also having bugs that would make missions made with older versions crash or be completely unplayable, you're getting yourself into too much trouble.

 

Unless a new DYOM version has many new features and also keeps ALL of the current features of 8.1 while the mod stays as stable and bug free as 8.1 version is now, there is no point in making a new version, you know what I'm saying? Upgrading in some parts while downgrading and destabilizing in other parts isn't really what you can call upgrading then, especially since we don't even know Dutchy and Patrick would approve of this. I appreciate your efforts, but I'd suggest you think it through, it could save you a lot of trouble.

Yes. What Springfield implemented in his unofficial version are just fragments of what we would really appreciate, but the whole mod has to be stable and reliable afterwards, too.

 

As of my personal opinion, I still believe that more than enough can be done with the version we have currently. I find it difficult to believe how a few new aesthetical features can essentially change our projects in the future. To put it into perspective, DYOM in GTA Underground is a whole different topic, but not new animations and car health capacity options.

Hello, i am back. I am currently working on a new storyline and i want you guys to rate the story. I want to be motivated enough to return to DYOM and happily do missions for the community.

After analyzing more I'm pretty sure that these bugs have not occurred because of limitations. As I said that I needed to remove some codes in order to get my hands on the source code. Limits are not a big issue right now. 3-4 Years ago I still remember when I posted my reply on updating health system but "AnDReJ98" replied, "It is not possible to add more healths because of limitation which is complete right now". Let me tell you that If I only update Health system then still everything will work like a butter. I don't know what our developers said to you guys but I'm sure that the bug has no interaction with limits. Suppose Miraculously I got the original (without any removal of codes) source code of the mod. I'm 100% sure that If I establish new features every bug will be fixed automatically (Storyline and SD one also). The lines I have removed had a relation to SD and Storyline system. Limits are not an issue.

EDIT: What If I say you that "Storyline" and "Explosion object" bug is fixed.

 

On the other hand, I must agree that it is not approved yet. Constantly updating can snatch many wishes and fulfil many promises but results are everything. That is why I did not post any new update 2-3 days ago because I was also thinking about it. My speed is getting more negligible day per day.

 

And now I understand limitations people were talking about. It's the limitation of Menu like we can add only 8 features in a single menu but there is a simple reply called "Make a sub-Menu of it".

I always felt like a lot of "limitations" that were being imposed were actually just bunch of bull-crap.

I would love for anyone who knows what they are doing to update their mod, but the issue is that while Dutchy and Patrick hasn't done anything for the mod nor for the community for about three - five years, you can bet your ass they'd show up here as fast as lightning to deal with the "copyright infringement" were you to release this. Of course, they have all the rights to do so. It's their mod after all, but still...
