@Chimpso: I'm sure he meant discussing about missionpacks *before* you made them, to avoid polls like "Did you likee mah mishens#"#!?"

This is what I was meaning.

General Scrotum

I started to play Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on PC in October or November and I didn't want to play the story again so I quit. Then, in December, I restarted to play and decided to take a look in the Design Your Own Missions forum.

This, is my story.

I started playing San Andreas on PS2 first when I was still a kid. Then 2 years later I started playing on PC, when I got bored of it, I found out about the feature "modding". In 2009 I found DYOM, at first it was not simple to use it and I thought where to post those missions I made. I stopped making missions, because it was boring make them for myself biggrin.gif

When I read more about DYOM, I found the site to upload them. Then I released my first story... (Strange Shop)

Few months later I found out about GTAForums, so here I am now.

Well. I began DYOM back in the early days. Like, early 2009. I used it for a little bit, but found it too hard. I left it for a few months, came back to it, but then got bored with it again. Around the start of 2010 I began making missions again, uploading some to GTAGarage. Then I discovered this forum, and (in April) began my first mission series; the SAPD Chronicles. I originally just wanted to make a few cop missions. But then I got the characters formed, got a story going and thought "I'll keep this". I got positive reviews for the first part, and better reviews for the second part. So I made two more parts and am now working on another two more. I also started another series in my spare time called "The Columbos". Instead of cops, it focused on gangster life and restarting an old gang. It was a failure, so I stopped it, realising I'm no good at gangster missions. So I continued with cop missions, which hardly anyone makes. And I'm now working on re-creating one of my favourite games; 007 GoldenEye.

So that's my story. Thanks for reading biggrin.gif.

It was a dark day, I was at teh hospital naked and crying.. nah.

It all started after I was looking for designing mods for SA, some mods which I can show my creativity on, and after a long time, I found DYOM.

It think it was around a week before I registered. (around 7th of July 2009)

You can't even imagine how embarassed I'll be if one of you will find my first mission. uh.

I stopped making missions around the last months of 2010 (november? december? I don't know the actuall order of the months (I know, that's a dumb thing not to know))

because I was lazy.

I returned, made another few missionpacks (two I think)

and left DYOM again.

now I've returned, with full powers.

That's it,

Now I've got a question too.

What themes are your favourites?

Gangs,

Ballas (deserves a special category, as we have by far too many of em)

Drama

Comedy

Army

Action (everything else)

Driving (Car deliveries, trucks etc)

etc?

I bought San Andreas in 2006 on PC. Later I wanted to saw 2-player mode on PS2, so I downloaded it and burned to my CD. Later in "Grand Theft Wiki" I saw an article about "Design Your Own Mission". I read it and watched trailer. So I begin to create missions and signed up to GTAForums.com. THE END... biggrin.gif

Nice idea. But is this not what individual mission topics are for? And I doubt any designers would like to share their expert design techniques tounge.gif.

Why not? Then you can learn from everyone. biggrin.gif

C!TRU5~M!XX3R

I´ve upload only 3 mission packs in my life (SiN Nuke,Deep Conviction and Life on Farm) and I thought to make an contiune and I wanna take a look on the most downloads and views. First

SiN Nuke

262 Views and 205 downloads

Deep Conviction

66 Views and 28 Downloads

Life on Farm

98 Views and 49 downloads

Surly SiN Nuke was now my most successful missionpack every (yet). But not the popular.

THE QUESTION:

What is the reason why they download it ? I need some Informations for the continuation...(that they have more fun to play) (J4F)

Is it the Picture ? I didn´t think so

Is it the Trailer ? Could be

Is it that why DYOM Mission´s is full with Gangster,Military,Cops etc overloaded and want "see something new" ? <Ahh that could be the reason>

So my Question is:

Was is the preeminently on "HORROR & MYTHOS" ?

and

What is your most promising Mission Pack ?! Post it !!!

My best mission pack is The Don and his Gun. There is a big chance I will make part 2 of the series.

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=464215

The best part of the mission pack is the story. Its set in the ´78 Las Venturas, where we step into the shoes of Joel Paccino, Don Giovanni Leone´s best hired gun, where we have to help the family out and complete some hits. Well, thats how it starts.

The first mission is more a normal work day of Joels life where we have to complete a simple hit for the Don together with our best friend, Ricardo. But on the start, we see a girl which made the Don mad for stealing drugs for Leones biggest rival, the Barbaro family.

In the 2nd mission, Ricardo and Joel decide to spend their earned money on some cheap prostitutes in a local club. What surprises us, is that Joels ho is the same girl that was almost killed by the Don on the start. After having some fun, Ricardo finds Barbaros son, Mike. He kills him and the club gets ambushed by Barbaro mobsters, Joel and Ricardo have to protect themselves and the girl. Then they 3 go outside, to be greet with more mobsters. After taking care of them, Ricardo tells that he has to leave this town. We have to bring him down the docks. The mysterious girl tells her name, Veronica. Joel and Veronica go together to Joels house.

In the 3rd mission, Joel wakes up near Veronica and tells her he has to work. He meets Giovanni together with Gordon, which is another hitman and Salvatore, which is the Dons son. They have kind a press conference about being rivals with the Barbaro family. They are suspected for killing his son. The Don swears he will find and kill the one who killed Mike. It was not a wise step, since the Barbaros strike back hard. We drive the mobsters to the Dons house, which is being ambushed. After they have been took care off, the Don finds his dead wife. He swears about Mike and his killer again. Sal tells Joel and Gordon to take care of Vincent, a made guy from the Barbaros.

In the 4th mission, Joel goes to work again, leaving Veronica at home. She will do some shopping trough. Before he goes to work, someone is calling him from the outside. Some associates from the Leones inform Joel about Caligula being attacked by the Barbaros. Joel quickly steps is, however he gets hit by a bat by one of the mobsters so its a setup. He wakes up in a mysterious house, full of mobsters. We have to fight, stealth and shoot our way out. We will also find the Don, Sal and Gordon together with some mobsters upstairs. We have to free them and take care of Jimmy Barbaro, the Don of the family.

I go on later. Give me feedback about the missions. I will also make a trailer before starting the sequel.

My most promising Missionpack?

I think it's The Aftermath,

because I'm going to puke my soul into each mission, I mean I'm going to leave it with no mistakes, even a single actor not in the right place, spawned not in the right time etc... and I'll start over.

I just want people will give it a chance when it's out. wink.gif

General Scrotum

What I like in missions are; action, zombies and drama. I may also add; army.

My best mission pack (on the V/D (Views/Downloads) point of view) is; Chronicles Of Secronom. This is the first mission pack (story) I made and that I finished 100%.

Apart from that, "Wow! I didn't expect it to be that popular! Still, I'm happy about that."

@Secronom President:

I tried to make the video review I promised before though I couldn't record sound with fraps, so it was useless as I also couldn't find suitable music for a review, I'm very sorry.

Anyway, I need your(everyone from the DYOM community) suggestions:

After releasing my next missionpack, I'm going to release a Secret Video with further information and events happening after the ending scenes.

I wanted to protect the Secret Video file with a password, and the password will be revealed after finishing the outro. Do you think it's a good idea?

I guess I will answer all questions, because I havent posted any of them.

In 2007-2008, I played San Andreas on the Xbox before the PC, and I was tryin to look for some vids of 2 player madness.. but instead I ran across sa-mp. When I saw those videos of SA-MP I was like wow that is sick.. but I never tried it. Later I finally got it on PC and enjoyed sa-mp. Later I became interested in mods around 2009 and google searched for a making your own gta missions, and I came across this. However I did not use DYOM until like Jan 2010 because I was playing sa-mp and other mmo games lol. I made bout 6-7 missions before I registered on the forum. The 7 missions i made was around the same time LeonCj made San Andreas Stories and my missions were like a newbie version of it called San Andreas Memories which broke up in 3 parts.

I really have to say Las Venturas Crew is my best and only promising mission pack since San Andreas Memories and Minimum Wage failed and i never finished any chapter.

I came up with the idea originally going to be 1 chapter and leaving LV after that. And it originally was just a gangsta theme story. But when I started playing around with ideas from different designers.. mainly from SAPD Chronicles by Chimpso, and Episodes from Las Venturas by LeonCj, it then gave me a good start to twist things with Mafia's and Police, which is why I made Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. So I developed more characters that are cop-like and changed some of the side story a little.

In Chapter 2 things start to get a little complicated, but I try to focus 1 problem at a time, slowly killing off the problems, and Chapter 3-5 things get even more complicated because you still need to defeat the Mafias' and leading back to the main issue "getting Markus back to college" then somethings with unfold, but enough future content!

While Im a little disappointed it has taken awhile to complete this series to get to Chapter 3..since I still want to work on the 2 stories parallel to this one..Maybe I will start working them and release it while I work on Chapter 3! smile.gif, but I don't wanna overload it.

Overall I have to thank Chimpso and LeonCj for parts of my ideas tounge.gif.

About Themes.. I like Gangsta and action themes..biggrin.gif

Personally, the thing that made me play SiN Nuke was the trailer and the fact I had watched the three seasons of The Dead Walk's on YouTube.

What would you guys think of a sort of Build Up Your Gang or Build Up Your Army but, instead of writing chapters, we create missions (qualified as chapters)? It would use almost the same system as the original BUYG. I don't know if it could work but, we could give it a shot. Waiting for your replies.

Same System ... same sh*t

A new System would be great (personally)
