Anyone having problems with the game when installed to the drive? Because I have it installed but the disk still spins when I play it, yet just now after about 3 minutes it stopped when I left it on the start screen, it was annoying me before.

Also I would just like to say that after the sh*t demos, I really expected to get bored of this pretty soon, but it actually turned out good. The key is to complete some stuff, get the better areas, more cars unlocked and then it feels how it should do. Also the story does (as mentioned) go off on one abit, but I think it is really unique, especially for a driving game, what I would have prefered would have been 70s awesome chase sh*t, but the current story works with this and it is at least not just the same old sh*t you will find out there, and id say defo worth a rent, if you like drivey games.

I could drift for f*cking hours in this game I swear.

Infact I did the other night, just on one dirt bend, over and over.

Anyone else find the dialogue amusing when entering a car with Shift? The chatting between Tanner and Jones is hilarious as well.

agreed, I think this was my favorite part of the game. Jones is awesome and Tanner is pretty good too.

I thought it was funny when you

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

shift into Jones while Jericho is in Tanner's body at the end of chapter 6 or 7 and afterwards Jones is like "I feel violated" and sh*t like that, laughed my ass off.

Is this game worth getting ? Is it free roam like GTA or is it linear like Mafia 2? thanks

The game does have an open world, but it is not like GTA or Mafia 2, since you can't get out of the car. You can switch cars with shift, but there isn't any on foot action.

As I previosly mentioned, there is no, getting out and in, by the car door, because if they included it, it would have been called a GTA clone. There is no foot action, which is good because they were never good it. Shift is unique and different from others.

I just bought this game and I play it for 20 minutes, right when I unlocked shift level 2, my PS3 dies. sad.gif The story isn't that great, but the graphics are nice and driving the freaking cars is fun. Now I won't be able to play it until I get my PS3 fixed or get a new one, and also try to get the game out of the disc drive.

Finished it today and really enjoyed it. The story sounds quite silly but really when you look at it the script is well written and there is a lot of fun to be had. Really good to see the game focus solely on the driving aspect of things and not try to match up with the big range of free roam games out there which already do the vehicle/shooting thing pretty well. Good job done by Reflections on this and I do look forward to seeing more from the franchise.

I thought the same as you, i can remember spending days on Driver 1&2 just cruising the cities, powersliding corners and doing high speed sprints. After playing the demo, which i enjoyed, it had me wondering if i'd be doing the same thing or wether i'd get bored with it.

Definately still enjoying it, i've bought myself one of those off-road buggies and it's awesome both on and off road, it tops out at 120 but accelerates like a bat out of hell so it's great for getting chased by the cops in.

you can't get out of your car? that sounds absolutely dreadful, its 2011 and they've released a PS3 crime/sandbox game in which you just drive around , no shooting , running, fiiting cars with bombs or anything! how sh*t! I'll stick to Just Cause 2. Even Driv3r had out of vehicle capabilities.

Have you not played the original Driver? The series went downhill with the inclusion of on foot action. It's returned (almost) to its roots, it's all about the driving, it isn't meant to be GTA or even a 'open world crime game' so to say, it's all about the car chases and the cars themselves.

I bought it on release and completed the story on Monday, loved it, though it's a little on the silly side, kinda reminded me of Source Code mixed with every car chase movie there is. The cars are great and handle well, and I love the fact I've yet to get bored of just driving round the city, and power sliding in to alleys. I also can't say how happy I am with the fact you can free roam the entire city in split screen and not just a section of it. Reflections did a great job on it.

My only gripes being that you can't unlock the 1974 Dodge Monaco Police Car or the plain Dodge Challenger to drive along with the fact every billboard says Ubisoft which kind of ruin the atmosphere in some of the chases and remind you that you are just playing a game and aren't in fact Steve McQueen.

Sunrise Driver

Yay first "it's not like GTA = sh*t" post here.

shooting

That's the key word. That's why people prefer RDR over better games like LA Noire and Bully.

Even Driv3r had out of vehicle capabilities.

Have you enjoyed them? Shooting and jumping were poor. Swimming wasn't much enjoyable too.

In Driver 2 you could walk out, still 95% of gameplay (if not 99) was driving the car.

God, he f*cking jumped like a disabled cop, swimming; if you stay in the water your health will start to drain.

EDIT: Nvm

I'm bloody loving this game, to be honest, haven't even tried the online yet as well

EDIT 2: f*ck me! Just got my first taste of exotica in this game (Diablo VT), most fun I've had driving in a game for a long long time! This is how it should be, fast paced, easy enough to not be challenging, but not a walk in the park either, it's not 100% realistic, but the physics suit this game down to a T, everything can be coaxed into an exagerrated tailslide, including the ambulance which was funny

It's a sandbox game alright, but not a crime one. You're a cop, remember? Which is also why...

you just drive around , no shooting , running, fitting cars with bombs or anything!

The developers have stated over and over again that they wanted to return to Driver's roots. Which is the best thing for a series that tried to emulate GTA, and did so poorly.

The game is fantastic. It looks great, running at a constantly high FPS. The cars look sexy (kudos to the Lamborghini Miura) and sound wonderful too. The story is something I think we've all seen before (guy in coma - has bizarre powers) but is performed so campily that it works. It's like a 70's car-chase/cop movie, and it's all the better for it.

Shift keeps things interesting, especially in multiplayer. Where it gets pretty heart-racing in modes such as Tag. I also really liked the challenges inspired by movies (Bullit, The Blues Brothers, The Italian Job...) which shows that a lot of thought was put into this game, making it a great send-up of its inspiration.

And at least there isn't a parking-lot level where you have to perform stunts and mind the paint! ...or is there...?

Actually, there is, it's an unlockable challenge, exactly the same as the first Driver, 60 seconds to perform the same list of things (Burnout, Reverse 180, Slalom etc.)

I know that, silly! Hence my "...or is there?"

I was met with two emotions:

"Oh god, NOT AGAIN!" and "Heh, pretty cool how they included this call-back to the original."

Managed to get it done first time, for the first time in...a decade, for me!

Oh, what am I like?

Yeah it's awesome, there's a few subtle nods to the old games, I think the opening song from Driver 2 is in the soundtrack, or at least a version of the song is. And a couple of the cars featured on the car list seem to be have been the cars in Driver 1/2, or at least, the cars they were meant to resemble

I'm really interested in knowing who voiced Tanner in this game. It sure as hell isn't Michael Madsen. But still, it's something familiar about Tanner's voice. I can swear I've heard it before somewhere. He sounds a little bit like Tom Hanks sometimes, but I don't think it's him.

well, on Tanner's wiki page, It has the following names as the voice of Tanner:

Bradley Levelle

Stefan Ashton Frank

Michael Madsen

However, that wiki is pretty bare and hasn't added any real info on Driver SF yet(read this) so I feel that Levelle and Frank voiced him in the first two games respectively and Madsen obviously didn't so I really don't know.

I can't see what your problem is with the game being just driving? It doesn't make any sense to me.

Anyway, I tried out the online last night and it's fun as hell, using shift in tag etc. gets tense and just watching the carnage that unfolds with cars flying everywhere makes it.

I can remember being stuck on that mission for f*cking ages because i was only a little kid and didn't know what the hell a slalom was and we didn't have the glorious internet for me to find out the definition lol.gif

Just a quick question, after completing movie challenges where do i go to find the cars i've unlocked?

You and me both. Well, it was more the fact that my driving was abysmal when I first played it.

Everything you unlock, you find in the garages around the city. You unlock vehicles then buy them, unlock upgrades, and can access your challenges there, too. Neat.

Finished the Singleplayer and i must say this game was really good. I love just freeroaming around the city in the Dodge challenger and doing some awesome drifts. As for the story being over the top, it is in tanners head so it's not really over the top if you think about it. I liked the story alot TBH, good range of mission types and the story was quite interesting. The gameplay was top notch, driving in this game is sooooooo much fun and best of all there is a large choice of awesome cars.
