Do I have to downgrade my game?

Recommended Posts

Well, for one thing, I do like what R* did with the moon and shadows, but it seems as though I'm getting sub-par performance with the latest patch, and that there are some mods that either do not work properly or crash on 1.0.7.0. I know my current CPU/video card setup sucks (C2D E7400, 2.8Ghz and an Nvidia GT240, GDDR5 flavour), but I feel like I'll be getting a few more frames per second with an older version.

Yeah, I'm getting pathetic performance with the latest patch too; fps drops below 20. It worked fine with the previous patch where I would get anywhere between 30 and 40 fps. I don't remember well enough to compare the performance of the 4th and 6th patch, but I might consider reinstalling as the game is not very enjoyable at 15-20 fps.

Yeah, I think you should downgrade it which is the best way to play with mods and even enb without the sky flickering while playing or any other issues.

Which patch should I download? 1.0.0.4 or 1.0.4.0? I remember installing a certain version of IV that ran rather fine on an Acer laptop I serviced; it still had the grainy shadows so I think it could be either 1.0.0.4 or 1.0.4.

I'm not sure about a laptop, cuz I have only play it on a desktop, but I would say 1.0.0.4 cuz that what I'm using right now and no problem so far. Before doing anything, just make sure to back up the whole game which could save if it ever crash.

Yep, it did the trick; tried downgrading to 1.0.0.4 and I'm getting 36-40-something frames in at least a few areas compared to frequent framerate dips in the latest patch. I don't mind seeing grainy shadows in my game, and nor do I have the time for online DM, so I guess this one works like a charm.
