MiamiVice1984
I Agree about R* being so quite about their Games which i just cant understand why.. its just good for sales to build hype up long before games are realesed. They finally realesed a L.A Noire trailer but how about Max payne 3, Agent and GTA V? Theres just got to be a NEW GTA in the works theres just no chance there isnt and im sure its been in the works for 2 years like Pachter said. But yea R* really have to start announce more information/trailers about their games they are too quite about their projects..
Finn 7 five 11
As well as building hype, they don't give the other game companies the word either, you wouldn't want to be undermined by another company releasing a huge game at the same time, or trying to outdo the opposition. Phatgordo13
I think it's possible that the next gen will be by 2013-2014 but i doubt it, i think these consoles out now still have a while to go (maybe not the wii) but the other two definitely have a good life span, hell i still play my ps2 all the time and plan oln getting a new one in case my old one goes bust. Sony apparently made the console then dumped it on the laps of designers like Rockstar and told them to make the most out of it. With the 360 being a lot more easy to develop for a lot of games studios chose it as the lead platform and thus a lot of games simply worked better on it That is true, games didn't really work better on the xbox, both consoles are pretty equal at the moment in terms of game quality, if ps3 had been developed in conjunction with games developers the graphics and games would shoot xbox's butt out of the water. The problem was that developers were having a hard time figuring out the PS3. When Sony released the operating system to developers they basically handed it to them and said do what you can. Its already been stated that Sony brought in third party developers to help design the new operating system to help make it easier for games to be developed. The idea is that with this approach Sony will have a head start in the gaming library for the next generation. This has led some to speculate that the PS4 may be out sooner than later, as it appears Sony's approach may be to jump the gun on the next generation of gaming. I Agree about R* being so quite about their Games which i just cant understand why.. its just good for sales to build hype up long before games are realesed. But yea R* really have to start announce more information/trailers about their games they are too quite about their projects. As it goes for sales, there is no point in releasing GTA information when youre trying to hype up other releases. With Red Dead and LA Noire, Rockstar is going to turn a huge profit margin without a GTA release, and they just may do it again for another fiscal yearl. There is no doubt about it, that there is a new GTA in the works. I guarantee you there is. However, Rockstar North is also in charge of Agent, which has already been announced. So it would seem their focus is on Agent at the time being, but things like this can change all the time. Having GTA, and a Red Dead franchise now flourishing, Rockstar is proving its more than a one trick pony. The anticipated release of LA Noire, and if Agent can live to the hype, can prove to be other lucrative franchises. Theyre not losing any sleep or any money by not announcing a GTA. While of course we would all love to hear something, at this point in time....there is nothing to be said. We will be able to tell more once the release of LA Noire slows down. Rockstar will either begin making announcements for Agent and Max Payne 3....or they will remain mum and this may be good news for a possible GTA, but we have plenty of waiting to do yet. As well as building hype, they don't give the other game companies the word either, you wouldn't want to be undermined by another company releasing a huge game at the same time, or trying to outdo the opposition. Rockstar is one of the best companies for building hype. Think of the GTAs of the past and games like Manhunt. Nobody really does it better than Rockstar. Theyve had some of the most anticipated releases in the last few years with GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption. Why would they give other gaming companies any information? Besides, Rockstar isnt concerned with GTA being overshadowed by ANY game....EVER. Other gaming companies set their release dates based around when Rockstar ISN'T. jnzooger
That is true, games didn't really work better on the xbox, both consoles are pretty equal at the moment in terms of game quality, if ps3 had been developed in conjunction with games developers the graphics and games would shoot xbox's butt out of the water. I have to disagree with this. Both consoles would be completely equal quality if they were developed equally. The fact is, other than the disc that the games are shipped on (the blu-ray space is quite useless in the current gen for most games and acts mainly as storage for uncompressed audio), the 360 and PS3 are nearly identical hardware. I think they try to keep as quiet as possible because they don't want other companies to use their ideas. It's probably the same reason why Apple is also usually very secretive about their upcoming products. Building hype is one thing, but that's worth sacrificing sometimes. If I had a company that made video games, I would make sure we don't announce anything until the product has been finalized or until the trailer has been made. Emm Ell
I predict... Hinted at at E3 2011 Announced midway through 2011, possibly at German/Japanese Gaming Conventions. Release date summer 2012.
mobe
Besides, Rockstar isnt concerned with GTA being overshadowed by ANY game....EVER. Other gaming companies set their release dates based around when Rockstar ISN'T. I'm sorry but that's totally deluded GTA fan talk. Rockstar are a very clever company and very clever companies know fine well one of the worst things you can do in any business is rest on your laurels. GTA is a beast of a game but is it the beast it once was? Arguably not. There's better selling games out there these days. It certainly doesn't 'own' this generation of gaming like it did last gen. Put it this way its fairly difficult to find people who had any major criticisms with any of the last trilogy of GTA's, each of them pretty much defined the last generation of gaming, however its not at all difficult to find people with major and quite well founded criticisms of GTAIV. This generation of gaming has a lot of new gaming franchises which are definitely in danger of over shadowing GTA and you know what? That's a really great thing for GTA. It means R*North will really push GTA V to be something incredible and groundbreaking. Presumably one of the reasons they're making Agent is clearly because they wanted to take a break from purely making one GTA after another and I really hope they come back to it with fresh ideas, I'm sure they will. I'm still in two minds whether we will see another GTA this generation of consoles. I like far flung crazy bets so my money is on the next GTA being a launch title on the PS4 in exactly two years from now.

I agree with you whole heartily in all accounts but Ill stand firm in saying the competition will avoid competing GTA releases more than the other way around. Id go as far to say 90% to 10%. Im only giving you the 10% because Im sure you'll name a bigger game thats slipping my mind right now. Im in no way suggesting R* should just keep dumping out games to keep the gravy train rolling. When GTAIV first came out and for months after, there was little to complain about. It seems only in the past year or so have fans begin to say....well....its not THAT great. Keep in mind by this time, previous generation we were balls deep in Vice City looking forward to the next release. Take this as all fan talk, but I consider each GTA...the BAR for gaming after it. Id go as far to say 90% to 10%. That's absolutely true but since new GTA's come out VERY infrequently the competition don't have much to worry about do they? I'm sure these days they think they've got even less to worry about. This generation of gaming has proved there is a market out there for fresh ideas, its far from being the one horse race it was last gen with everyone trying to keep up with GTA's success. Again I would say that's good for gaming and for the reasons I stated before its good for GTA.
mobe
You can forget about the PS4 out in 2years more like 4years.. Nah, the more I read about it the more I think Sony are going to be first out the door this time around for sure. People within the gaming industry seem to think so and that's got to be good signal. Move isn't going to give the console 4 years more life as a state of the art machine and if Sony have admitted their in house studios are already working on next gen games and on top of all that the natural six year life cycle of the Playstation is up in 2012. Its a fair bet it'll be around then the PS4 comes out. Another 4 or 5 years is just a ridiculously long time to stretch out this generation of gaming when gamers and developers sights are already firmly on the possibilities of next gen hardware. maxopower
Just read this, thought there might be something about it. VGA 2010 Revealing A 2013 Game Via Twitter, Geoff Keighley had this to say: "How far into the future are the VGAs going? I just reviewed a piece that says "coming 2013" at the end." There has been a lot of talk about an VGA announcement. As the blogger says, not many games can bare 3 years of hype, but GTA/Rockstar stuff in general can. If they would reveal it, It would be a lot like the fake Tattoo at E3 2006.

kietotheworld
5 years would be an awfully long time between games, San Andreas was only 2 years after Vice wasn't it? Vice 1 year after III? On the bright side, if it is released in 2013 it ought to be a righteous game.
Finn 7 five 11
For christ sake, there have been 2 DLC's since GTA IV! so it will not be 5 years it 2013, it will be like 3 years. Sure they are only DLC's but when there are two of them it almost makes a full game with missions and all. The game is much more detailed now, so it will take a bit longer to make the game, plus Rockstar north a moving away from the one game company, which i think is good, that way they can build a stronger financial base, and kick EA games away who seems to want to own every games company in the world and ruin the great franchises. MiamiVice1984
I completed Ballad of gay tony in 2 hours and lost and damned 3 hours so they hardly count as 2 complete games. Anyways in 1month its 3 years since IV was realesed so GTA V should be announced very soon unless they are building a new engine.. But if i can remember right they said back when IV was realesed that they were gonna start working on next GTA right after the realese of IV thats why its soo strange they havent reaveled anything about it yet. Finn 7 five 11
Rockstar markets them as 2 complete games. Hence they are complete games from a business standard. Exactly, they are classified as another Grand theft Auto from a business standard, rockstar is a business. Er...considering The Ballad of Gay Tony was released in 2009 I'd make it at least 4 years It was released October 29th 2009 (my 18th) for xbox, so if the release were in early 2013 that would be closer to 3 years. If it were released late 2013 it would be closer to four year, but it would also be closer to 2014.
kietotheworld
I like listening to you little pissant kids try to sound important or knowledgeable by using words like 'hence' and 'business standard'. It makes me laugh. If Rockstar were here, they'd laugh too. What's important is how long it takes to develop the game, developing the DLC is a very small effort in comparison to designing a city, irrespective of how they are marketed. 4 years to design a new setting and implement new features is a fairly long time. Writing the missions for it doesn't take any longer than it would have done 5 years ago.

You are insulting your own intelligence by claiming a basic one syllable word requires so much knowledge. and I think it will be sooner then 2013. If it ends up being this game though, it'd be a pretty damn good play with all that development time!
