Any way to reduce the amount of pop-ups?

Recommended Posts

Hi, i just installed San Andreas back to my computer and it has being working fine it, but still I'm having some troubles with it. My problem is that the cars, the trees and the pedestrians simply pop out of nowhere, even when I'm just standing still. Also, some of the roads are completly black, instead of looking like they should be, until I get close to them. The game is playable, but still is pretty annoying playing it with problems, considering that even in the PS2 the cars and peds spawned in more distant locations and that the trees didn't appear out of nowhere (except when going on a high speed).

Here are my specs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7500 @2.93GHz

Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bits

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT, 1 GB (driver 260.99)

RAM: 3 GB

I'm using the original V1.0 DVD and I do not have any mods installed.

Also, Turn OFF the Anti-Aliasing, it is a resource hog and it does nothing more than mess up the graphics of the game-I tried AA on V2, and all it does is make the graphics so bad that you cannot tell what's what in game. The last picture of This first post, is what the game looks like when I turn AA ON, that's why I say to turn it OFF.

Also, have you tried the V1.1 Patch? Also, Are ALL your drivers up to date for your Video Card, DX, etc.?

Try turning the frame limiter off.

Ok, I tried to turn off the frame limiter, but the game goes too fast (like 65 fps), so there are even more pop ups.

Wierd, my game seemed ok when I used AA, but I'll just turn it off since it doesn't make any difference.

I tried updating the game, but the only fix I noticed was that when I entered the wardrobe, the mirror actually reflected the room correctly. Also, yes I do have all my drivers up to date.

Any other suggestions?

If you have changed OS or Screen settings, If your system upgraded anything (drivers, etc) Delete the GTA_SA.set File.

Are you playing the game in W98/XP mode, with Administrative Privileges?

if you need to

UNINSTALL and install VISTA/Win 7:

...you'll need to do this:

1) Uninstall SA.

2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas).

3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas).

4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder.

5) Reboot.

6) Reinstall SA.

I'm pretty sure this is a video driver related issue. Newer drivers seem to be the cause of this since I faced the same issue myself (I have an ATI HD 4850, though). I had to rollback to an older driver version to fix this. Try an older driver version, delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder and let us know if you notice any difference.

You can also try installing a program that increases your fps limit on Frame Limiter. I forget the name of this program.

Radioman I use AA without any issues - There are different modes, easiest way to check what mode to use is in the air flying a Shamal and leaning R/L so as to see how the wings look.
