Lets try bypassing GFWL altogether xliveless

Did they fix the xliveless program yet? Because last time I tried to Download it, it got flagged and Quarantined as containing a virus(es).-And this was on two(maybe 3, depending on what the Firefox auto scan counts as) reputable and well known Anti-Virus programs on both Windows 7 and Vista.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security and it has never told me that Xliveless is unsafe, because it's not.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security and it has never told me that Xliveless is unsafe, because it's not.

The first one I tried it on was my XP Pro laptop which does not currently have an active Anti-virus program, but the one that Firefox uses to scan files you download before it saves it to your HDD blocked it as a virus. My windows 7 laptop and Vista desktop only has the Free McAfee Security Suite one that comes Free from Cox Communications(my internet provider), and both of those PC's blocked it. This is the Anti-virus that comes free from my internet provider. Here is the quote about it that says it is the most respected Anti-virus:

Cox partnered with McAfee® – the most respected name in PC protection software – to bring you one of the most complete security solutions available.
So, it (xliveless) might have become infected between release and now.? Just a thought.

Edit: Forgot to add, that I used to have Norton and it used to block it on Windows 7, when the subcription was active, but I haven't had that since it expired back in August-and that scan does not work when the subscription is not active(I have tried to use that scan, but it would not work), so I know that isn't the one scanning files now a days on that PC, only the Firefox browser scans downloads on that PC.

Both McAfee and Norton are crap. I remember when I had McAfee, it kept on blocking safe applications. That's why I got rid of it and went with Kaspersky. I suggest you switch over to a better protection suite. If you can afford to pay, get Kaspersky. If you're looking for something free, Avira AntiVir is the best.

Not *one* positive.

I bet it is very easy but I'm a noob with this Sh*t anyway you can TV it for me???

Seriously?

I'll explain it to you step-by-step.

1. Download Xliveless from here: http://public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/xliveless-0.999b7.rar

2. Use WinRAR to open the file.

3. Once opened, right-click on xlive.dll and select the 'Extract to specified folder' option. Choose Desktop in the Browse window and extract the file over there.

4. Now, find where GTA IV is installed. For example, C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\

5. Copy the xlive.dll file (from your Desktop) to the GTA IV folder.

6. Start the game.

You don't know where the game is installed? mercie_blink.gif

Surely, you remember the installation path that was selected during the installation, don't you? If you're still not able to find it, I suggest you perform a Windows search for "GTAIV.exe".
