The Dark Knight Rises

Now that you say Robin, I really can see Gordon-Levitt playing him. But surely Nolan won't go back on saying there'll be no Robin in his trilogy. Unless he challenged himself to get him in somehow lol.

Exactly my thoughts.

But agreeing with Vanilla, would Robin really be necessary? I don't want the whole Batman & Robin again.

I got a question about the Dark Night movie. Was the black guy on that boat who threw away that detonator Joker had planted a character in the comic books? I have no idea who he is.

I don't believe so. Just a cameo by Deebo from Friday (Tommy 'Tiny' Lister).

Anyway, hasn't Bale made his opinion on Robin clear? I remember reading somewhere that he said "Robin is the most humiliating role in Batman", and that he would refuse to work on a Batman film if Robin was involved.

The inclusion of Robin in this series is unnecessary. Bruce/Batman is still young, in his late '20s/early '30s. He's struggling enough with trying to live both lives and Batman isn't "complete" yet. And it seems like he doesn't want anyone else doing what he does (remember the copycat Batmans in TDK?). If he has a sidekick in these films, then it would be Gordon as he's the only cop who helps him and truly knows Batman's intentions, that he's a guardian and a symbol of hope.

I highly doubt Robin will appear in this. And I believe Nolan even stated that he wouldn't include Robin in his series.

But you guys are all going off what Robin has traditionally been. Nolan could totally rethink the character.

Bale would absolutely go with it if Nolan told him it was going down, c'mon. But it could all be bull, so we'll see.

While this is definitely something obvious, just thought I'd post this news while we wait to see whether or not Joseph Gordon-Levitt is joining the cast.

The last time we saw Ra’s al Ghul on screen he was in a train that flew off a monorail and exploded into thousands of pieces. In the comics, Ra’s would rejuvenate himself in the Lazarus Pit, but that type of recovery wouldn’t fit in Christopher Nolan’s world. Still, many fans thought it was possible he’d return in The Dark Knight Rises, especially with the rumors of Talia making an appearance. Unfortunately for those looking forward to Liam Neeson reprising his Batman Begins role — it’s not going to happen. In an interview with IGN, Neeson explained that he “definitely” won’t be in The Dark Knight Rises:

We spoke to Neeson this past weekend and asked him if he will play Ra’s [al Ghul] again at some point. The character, after all, is virtually immortal in the comics. His response was that he “definitely” won’t be in the next film and hasn’t even been approached about it, but he’d maybe kick around the idea of returning as Ra’s down the line sometime.

Could Talia al Ghul still be making an appearance to avenge the death of her father? We’ll have to wait and see.

Also, another cool fan-made poster.

DOUBLE POST (don't get mad): It seems that shooting actually begins this week in NYC. However, none of the cast is involved; they're shooting a snow covered NYC from a helicopter.

It seems that Christopher Nolan wants to get a jump start on aerial shots for The Dark Knight Rises. A source close to BOF had this to say:

They are doing a plate shot in a helicopter over New York City this week. Apparently, Chris Nolan wants to get the city with snow on the ground.

I live about two hours outside New York, and can assure you, there’s plenty of snow on the ground. This isn’t huge news, but it’s definitely exciting. If you’re in New York City this week and see the “Batcopter” be sure to look up and wave to Mr. Nolan!

Interesting news. Will TDKR be set in winter like Batman Returns was?

If I were to guess, most of the movie will take place during spring and summer. They might want some snow on film for a "Christmas holiday" scene or something to that effect.

Although we've yet to hear from Christopher Nolan or Warner Bros. regarding this, it seems that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character has been revealed; Alberto Falcone, aka Holiday (or the Holiday Killer).

It was previously reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was appearing in Christopher Nolan's 2012 release "The Dark Knight Rises," but no one knew which part he was playing. We were speculating it was either the Riddler or Robin.

But Comic Book Movie has reported that an insider tells them JGL is cast as Alberto Falcone, son of mobster Carmine Falcone. Carmine made an appearance in "The Dark Knight" "Batman Begins" (played by Tom Wilkinson) and in the DC universe, Alberto becomes a serial killer called the Holiday Killer, who is (naturally) an enemy of Batman.

In the comics, Alberto was born on Valentine's Day and when he starts killing citizens of Gotham, he attacks on holidays, hence his name, starting with Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's, St. Patrick's Day, April Fools, Mother's Day, etc.

The CBM post detailing this character has been removed, but several sites have used it as the source for this casting rumor. So take all of this with a grain salt.

Could be bull, but maybe it's true. Just need confirmation from Nolan himself.

There are also rumors flying around that Marion Cotillard (who played Leonardo DiCaprio's wife in Inception) will be the second female lead.

Omnia sunt Communia

Gordon-Levitt's role as Holiday Killer fits nicely with them filming scenes of a snow covered New York City. I could see him playing a minor villain in the first part of the film, sort of like Victor Zsasz was in Batman Begins.

There are also rumors flying around that Marion Cotillard (who played Leonardo DiCaprio's wife in Inception) will be the second female lead.

And then Nolan can bring on Ellen Page. Oh, I hope, I hope. Not buying it.

I heard a rumor that this would be the role JGL would be playing a few weeks ago. Thought it was interesting and would make sense to continue the mafioso thread of the films. Falcone, Maroni, and now a new -oni figure.

Yeah, that makes sense as to why he chose to shoot a few snow scenes.

It makes me wonder what perspective this film will have on the mob, or atleast what role they'll have. As far as I know, neither Bane isn't the type of character to lead the mob, or atleast the remnants of the mob following The Joker. And it makes sense that Alberto would take the mantel of his father, but wasn't he a more independant character than that?

As I remember it, after Bane broke Batman's back in the comics, he took over the Gotham underworld and ran it as kingpin. I think he's quite fit for the job. He's supposed to be super-intelligent as well as super-strong, that's why he poses such a threat to Batman.

Throw in Leonardo DiCaprio in there and we have a masterpiece on our hands!

Seems legit. Although it could just be a photo from the set of Batman Begins. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Also, Marion Cotillard is officially in talks to join the cast as the second female lead. And apparently, shooting will also take place in Pittsburgh.

Edit: The post has been updated, everything below is BS:

Heyy-ooo

http://collider.com/the-dark-knight-rises-...n-levitt/76464/

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been cast in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and will join an ensemble cast alongside Christian Bale who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. They will play Talia al Ghul and Roman Sionis respectively.

On casting Cotillard, Director Christopher Nolan stated, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Marion again and have no doubt she will be a great addition to our ensemble cast and bring to life a key part of the universe we have created as we finish our story.”

On the addition of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Nolan said, “I am thrilled to be working with Joseph again after a delightful experience working with him on Inception and am certain he will deliver another thrilling performance as one of Batman’s most popular villains.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

It's confirmed that all of that was bullsh*t. It was a fake press release. However, Hans Zimmer did say some things about the soundtrack.

Hans Zimmer is a man of few words when it comes to talking about his current projects. Zimmer has worked with Christopher Nolan on both the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight scores and is currently hard at work on something for The Dark Knight Rises. MTV.com recently caught up with Zimmer and tried to get him to talk about his latest work. He didn’t say much, but he did promise that his score for The Dark Knight Rises will be “epic”. Extraordinarily epic. Here is an excerpt from his interview with MTV:

The one thing I can tell you is that it’s going to be a lot more epic. Extraordinarily epic. I think there’s something in the core of the story that allows you to get the music much bigger and much more sort of, iconic.

Not huge news but interesting none-the-less.

If he can top the score from The Dark Knight and Inception, I'll be amazed. Both were phenomenal, as was the score for Batman Begins.

Anyone seen Batman: Under the Red Hood? I saw a clip of it on YouTube earlier which looked pretty good so I decided to watch the whole thing. I'm not normally into watching superhero animation (not sure why) but it was brilliant, I'd recommend it to anyone in here looking for a Batman fix. First time I've come across the character Black Mask in anything and I think he'd be a brilliant addition to Nolan's franchise. With Salvatore Maroni's fate sealed in The Dark Knight, Black Mask could sure take his place. If Nolan used him the way Under the Red Hood used him, he could be a minor character or a more major one. I doubt he will be though, considering Bane/Catwoman will need considerable backstory/explaining.

Ah well, thought I'd just share my views on what was a great, short animation.

(Also, I cannot see Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing him at all as it was rumoured/hoaxed earlier this week. Though I guess some people said the same about Ledger)

Edit: Here's the clip that made me want to watch it:

Super-duper rumor spoilers? The scooper at badassdigest is equal parts confident in and wary of this "information." Could all be bullsh*t, of course, but I'll spoiler it to prevent any bitching on the off chance some of it may be legit.

I just talked to a good source near the Batcamp and have come away with information about The Dark Knight Rises that confirms lots of speculation from recent months. This is, technically, all spoilers. I feel pretty confident that this info is good, but know that Christopher Nolan has gotten very, very skilled at manipulating us nerds and isn’t above throwing out some misinformation from time to time.

Here goes nothing:

As she herself confirmed, Anne Hathaway will be Catwoman in the movie. I can’t tell you what role she has in the beginning, but by the end of the story Catwoman isn’t a villain but rather an ally of Batman. And who are they teaming up to take out?

The League of Shadows.

Headed by Talia Al’Ghul. With Bane, who is her muscle/possible love interest. And with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in tow. Is he playing Black Mask? My source didn’t know, but did know that Levitt is certainly an antagonist and involved with the League of Shadows.

I trust this source quite a bit, but again remember that there are rumors being fed out by the Batcamp that are purposefully untrue. And that there are people within the camp who have partial information – including my source here, who only knows some things and can only guess at others.

I would f*cking love that. All of that.

Vanilla Shake

I don't really know if I'm feeling that plot. I really don't want to see Catwoman as an ally. Hell, I don't think I want to see anyone as Batman's ally apart from maybe Gordon. And I don't know if I'd like seeing Bane as Talia's muscle/love interest, because that's basically what he was in Batman & Robin, although not a love interest (and no, I'm not saying this film will be anything like that piece of sh*t. Last time we saw Bane on film he was a woman's muscle, so I guess I'm just expecting something completely different for Bane).

I don't know. If it turns out to be true, maybe I just need some time to warm up to it. I guess it just seems like a pretty predictable "story comes full circle" ending to the trilogy to me.
