Your Thoughts On A VC Remake?

Recommended Posts

If RockStar were to have a sudden bout of genius and do a remake of Vice City what would you want from it?

I would be happy just with some better graphics (obviously not GTA4 level as that would be to time-consuming and expensive) ala God Of War/II which had phenomenal graphics for the ps2. A bit of updated gameplay (such as checkpoints on odd jobs and being able to buy back weapons after you've been busted/wasted etc) and maybe something new. I don't know, a multiplayer mode or a few new vehicles or weapons maybe.

If RSN decided to do a remake what would you want in it, would you buy it and is this something RS should even do? (Assume this is as well as GTA5 not in place of it) Think of it as a 'Scholarship Edition' like Bully had.

I personally would love an updated version, as much I still enjoy the game it often feels backward and limited when compared to the other GTA's (IV not withstanding as that was hideous).

I wouldn't care if it was a direct port to ps3, but updating the graphics wouldn't take too long if they already have all the models, it would be like making a DLC, even easier if you used the same story and stuff.

Me personally would prefer a new vice with a new story.

I don't want a remake of Vice City, I want a remake of the trilogy and the portable games. Throw them all with HD graphics on a Blu-Ray (don't know if they'll fit on a dvd, maybe on two or three).

It would work for the people that no longer have their PS2 (like me), and for the people who never played a GTA game before IV can just pick them all up easily. Hell, they could even throw in the top down originals and the advance game.

I'd buy them, and I know a lot of other people will.

personally, I'd like them to remake VC altogether, adding new islands and even some foreign islands south of Vice City, which would only become accessible later in the game and only via boat or plane.

I want the fishing industry to play some kind of role in the environment. Basically, I'd like to be able to fish (i know, this sounds really bizarre for a game titled Grand Theft Auto) and sell my catch for extra cash. I found hunting in RDR extremely enjoyable and it really lends purpose to the wildlife. In addition to wildlife, I'd like for the everglades to at least represent a small portion of the map; it'd be a refreshing feature after playing in the boxed-in urban environment that is LC.

I want there to be a wide variety of watercraft: surfboards, canoes, kayaks, jet skis, pontoons, catamarans, small fishing boats with oars, small motor-powered fishing boats, speed boats, yachts, massive yachts, cruise ships, cargo ships, barges, air-craft carriers. I also want there to be at least some aircraft.

For some reason, I want the protagonist to be hispanic for a change.

I personally think they could remake vice city on the ps2 with around 40-50 missions resulting on the new RAGE technology usen in IV. However I belive R* are done with those generation of consoles as quite a few people have either sold or never had a ps2. If there were to be a new vice city it would most likely be on the two current platforms; Ps3 and xbox. Possibly psp however not as likely. lol.gif

Official General

GTA: Vice City is still my favourite GTA game of them all, and I think it is the best one of the series too. That game was pretty much near-perfect, it had everything done brilliantly to a tee - the graphics, effects, storyline, characters, an excellent 1980s soundtrack and atmosphere, I could go on and on.

However, as much as I love Vice City, I would not want to see a HD re-make of the original Vice City game on the current generation of consoles around now. I would very much rather Rockstar focus their efforts on making an entirely new version of Vice City altogether from the ground up that is based on modern-day and one that also makes use of the latest, up-to-date console technology and HD graphics. And when I say and entirely new version of Vice City, I mean:

* A brand-new design for a modern-day version of Vice City that is much bigger in size than the one in the original game and an even more accurate re-creation of modern-day Miami.

* I'd also like the next Vice City to be based on the whole state of Florida, or at least most of it. I'd like to see other cities and towns to visit and various natural landscapes and environments like, countrysides, plantations, fields, grasslands, swamps, forests, rivers, lakes, coastlines, small offshore islands and beaches.

* Entirely new protagonists and characters, although I would'nt mind a cameo apperance of my favourite GTA character, Tommy Vercetti.

* I agree with Cacti, I wanna see a much wider range of water vehicles, especially jetskis.

* More varied side activities and mini-missions/games that dont always invlove killing people.

How on earth would they manage to get the new RAGE engine running on PS2? They probably struggled enough getting it to run on PS3 and 360 without framerate problems.

True actually, maybe I should have been a bit more realistic though if you look at my last sentance, I mention that I doubt it would work and it would be more likely to use the new platforms. I didn't say they were going to use it, what I meant was they would have to use only a few little missions as a result of the new RAGE technology. Don't worry if i'm confusing you. lol.gif

Yea we need Vice City again...personally i'd like to see it in the 80's

But this time I think there should be alot of things to buy. I mean to me Vice City represents wealth and excess so I think it would be cool if there were alot of things you could spend money on.

Ideally: 'GTA III Series' released at retail for PS3 and 360, featuring GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, LCS and VCS updated to run at 1080p with achievements/trophies, with the graphic improvements from the PC versions of III, VC and SA. LCS and VCS are released on Steam.

I want this, my ps2 stopped working about 2 months ago, and a direct port of the games whacked onto a blu-ray disc would be fantastic, i would buy it in a heartbeat.

What I'd want is for Rockstar to release a new Vice City Stories 2 with an update Vice City. But make it a side game, not GTA V. That way they cant cheat people by being lazy and remaking cities like they did with Liberty City. But you know Rockstar is so lazy and greedy they will never think of this. icon13.gif

Actually, you would want the graphics from the Xbox versions of III and VC. They were better than the PC ones.

I too would love to see LCS and VCS on PC though, but not through Steam. Digital Download is icon13.gif for me. Just imagine having this on store shelves...

I say make a Vice City with a drug dealing system similar to CTW, but I think there should be other side activities like:

Prostitution

Extortion

Murder for hire

Stealing cars (for parts)

Gambling (investing in Casinos)

Burglary

Robbery

The thing is the gameplay needs to be deep enough that strategies can (or must) be used in these activities

If the activities are too simple its just gonna get boring. You'll beat the story missions, play a few side missions get bored and put the game down.

I think deep gameplay is what made CTW so addictive

Minus the cameo of T Vercetti, I like that idea. Maybe a little piece of the Bahamas or something too, and even the Everglades.

Also, in terms of remakes of previous games, R* needs to port LCS and VCS to new consoles and PC. I'm not going to buy a PS2, and PS3 is out of the question too, which leaves the 360 and PC. Now I don't have a strong PC, but mine can run SA, so I would think it could run on of the Stories, unless R* goes all GTAIV on us.
