Rockstar and Naughty Dog makink GTA

And what exactly would Naughty Dog provide to the franchise that R* can't do themselves? Is this even serious?

Also GTA is not the biggest franchise of the world, there's still that italian plumber and those little collectible monsters.

I really think Rockstar can do it themselves, the only reason i can see them teaming up is to speed up the game making process, otherwise it could change the franchise for the worse, or better, i really don't know, but i am not so certain i would want it to be risked, i really doubt that rockstar will team up anyway, if they can make it themselves like i stated, then it is likely they will and reap all the profits rather than having to share.

As for teaming up with Naughty Dog, i don't see what they could bring to the game.

The concept aren't gonna happen either, should they all be locked? The wishlist, most of that is what if.

You must remember that "What If" is possible, there is nothing wrong with speculating, just like in "reveal and release"

Fair point. but personally, i still don't get why people pour hours and hours (days upon days?) of work into a concept that is pretty much always going to remain a figment of their imagination. Nothing wrong it per se, just not my cup of tea.

Most of the topics on this forum are pretty constructive because they're all built around the premises - and overall 'culture' - of GTA that we fans have come to know. and I want to say that the Animals/Children topic is by far the best, in my opinion, because it goes beyond GTA and allows for some good discussion on the relationship between violence and images, which is far more important to society as a whole. ok, back on topic..

I was wrong to suggest that it be locked. Instead, I'll just spend my time on other topics and whoever would like to discuss the possibility of R* merging with Capcom and the next protag being Blanka from Street Fighter can be my guest tounge.gif

I must say i laughed at you post, it was good...making concepts is usually jsut a way of people getting all these ideas out of their heads, i am making a concept, because i just wanna get the ideas out of my head and onto the net so people can read and hopefully enjoy, obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but its like writing, some people like to write stories for fun, or poems.

Hey, Crash Bandicoot in Liberty City would kick ass. Anyway, I'm sure Rockstar can handle GTA on it's own, they've been doing good thus far.

However, I could see them teaming up with another company for a separate project. Like teaming up with Lucasarts to make an open-world Star Wars game or something.

Well i want to know what the OP thinks. This thread would have been better if you would have elaborated.

"I think R* should work with Naughty Dog because ...."

With as large as R* is i would like to know what benefit there would be to working with that studio as opposed to other studios. How would the next GTA differ because of the collaboration? How would this free up other R* employees to work on other areas of the game?

Otherwise we have a thread where people post:

Rockstar and Running with Scissors!!

ROCKSTAR AND NINTENDO!!!!

NO MAN IT SHUD B ROKSTARE AND TRAYARK BCUS THE SHOOTINGS WOULD BE GOOD!!!!!!!!!111thelonliestnumber

an open world Star Wars game (a very well-made one, mind you) is something I've been wanting for a long time now. I'm a huge fan of the saga, yet I find games like "the force unleashed" (or whatever the f*ck) to be extremely lame..

I was thinking something along the lines of the first SW Bounty Hunter game in GTA/RDR style.

I dont think R* need anyone, although 'absorbing' technology companies could be fruitful.

This is the way Rockstar tends to operate. DMA became Rockstar North that way. I could see them buying the company that made the Euphoria engine, Natural Motion or something like that.

Of course, Rockstar = Take Two Interactive so such an acquisition could make it easier to use common technology for all of TTI's game empire, say, bringing Euphoria to the 2K line of sports games. TTI (as 2K Games) also owns the Duke Nukem property now and that could be another use.

my father-in-law owns a game company called Stainless games, based on the Isle of Wight... they should team up with rockstar!

on a serious note: Rockstar have done well on their own for so long, they dont need another company to share the credit with...

Does Anyone remember the Jak and Daxter Franchise from Naughty Dog? I remember Jak 2 and Jak 3 were GTA styled games, in a way. Those games were amazing, infact Jak 1 was the first game ive ever played in my life. But for real, maybe Rockstar could team up with Naughty Dog to help make a remake of Jak and Daxter or a GTA Styled Uncharted.

I actually wouldn't aware of this before but now that I look it up, Naughty Dog is owned by Sony, the same way Rockstar is by Take-Two. Sony has a dog in the console hunt with the Playstation 3. Thus, Uncharted 3 will be PS3-exclusive when it comes out, and I would imagine any revival of the Jak and Daxter series would be as well. However, suppose for whatever reason Sony/Naughty Dog wanted to make more money by having something ported to the 360 under a different publisher, Rockstar or 2K Games would be a likely candidate. This happened a few times in the old Nintendo/Sega era, but you definitely didn't see the marquee game franchises crossing over. The NES saw ports of Wonder Boy (as "Adventure Island") and Altered Beast in the 80s, but you never saw Sonic the Hedgehog on the SNES, or Mario/Zelda/Metroid etc. on the Master System or Mega Drive/Genesis.

Rockstar probably would not take on something that will be tied to one console. Even the DLCs ended up being released on disc for the PS3 and PC after initially being XBox 360-exclusive.

Naughty dog are great, but Rockstar can do it on their own.

I remember people saying the makers of saints row 2, should team up with rockstar. Enough to make anyone sick. barf8bd.gif

Saints row 2 was fun for about 4 days, but it hasnt got sh*t on Gta. I like to give other games respect when its due, but the game no heart. End.

I think what the OP meant was that Rockstar could work with Naughty Dog to gain knowledge of how they do things. It's a well known fact that RAGE underperforms on the PS3, running at a lower resolution, framerate, and in general performance. Naughty Dog are like the masters of the PS3, if they shared with Rockstar their knowledge, they could truely build a PS3 version of RAGE so it gets the best out of the PS3 in the same way the current RAGE engine gets the best out of the Xbox 360 and ONLY the Xbox 360.

Another point would be animations, Naughty Dog have this brilliant Animation Blend tech for in game models which makes movements and such look realistic, just look at the first gameplay glimps of Uncharted 3 to see how natural Nate moves and how the enemies take cover, etc.

Of course it would never happen, but it would be great if Rockstar just handed RAGE over to Naughty Dog and the ICE Team and have them tweak and refine a PS3 version and then just hand it back to Rockstar with some cliff notes.
