jdawg224
I just got this game and I have a problem. I experience a massive FPS drop every time I play the game in about 5-10 minutes. When I first start the game, I can drive around and stuff at about 60 FPS. Then all of a sudden, after about 5-10 minutes, it drops to 30 fps and it stays there. Anyone know what the problem is? Intel i7 930 2.8ghz OC'd to 3.86 EVGA geforce 470 6 GB ram This problem also happens to me in Metro 2033 whenever I ALT-TAB (FPS drops from 60 to 30 after a while and stays there). Not sure if it is related or not. Edited December 28, 2010 by jdawg224 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466144-sudden-fps-drop-in-eflc/ Share on other sites

It doesn't happen when I don't alt tab, and I never alt tabbed in EFLC, so I don't know if it is the same problem or not. I don't know man, but I have a similar problem, except my game just sits on 18-22 fps, and 10 fps when game gets pushed during a cop chase or explosion. I also get 60-70 fps in regular IV, so I don't know what the problem is. Anyway, the only fix I found so far was to install ENB series for EFLC (it is in the Mod Showroom, under tools, and there is a thread for EFLC ENB). I downloaded that, and instantly gained 20 fps, and the game looks infinitely better (except the sky, which gets f*cked up every now and then, due to ENB not being fully compatible with EFLC). However, I uninstalled EFLC, because it was conflicting with my 1.0.0.4 patch IV. I set everything to very high, and both terrain distance and detail distance are set to less than 50. As far as that mod that you recommended, I'll have to go check it out right now! OverTheBelow
Sounds like a problem with vsync. When your computer cannot retain 60fps, this messed-up vsync will cap it at half your monitor's refreshrate. I have no idea why, but it happens to me too from time to time. Try turning vsync off then on again, basically. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466144-sudden-fps-drop-in-eflc/#findComment-1060266927 Share on other sites
TheTomster
EDIT: To OverTheBelow, I had this problem with both vsync on and off. Not sure about jdawg however. It would be logical to assume it might be the 470 though. I just got this game and I have a problem. I experience a massive FPS drop every time I play the game in about 5 minutes. Yeah we have the same card. It could be the card, as we are having similar issues, and we have different manufacturers of processors and RAM surely. But the 470 chip remains pretty much the same across the board, so it could be our cards. I had everything set to maximum, but then toned down the settings below the auto configuration. What puzzles me, is that I was able to play IV on patch 5, with ENB, and practically maximum settings, and achieve 40 frame per second on average, but was totally slayed by EFLC. And sadly, I never got it to 60 fps, it was just always slow. Here it is straight from the thread, latest version of his mod! EnbSeries 0.081 EFLC with Shadows WIP Version 0.4 Shadows Work. jdawg224
OverTheBelow: I tried turning on/off the vsync and it did nothing, although your reasoning does make sense. TheTomster: Yeah, I found out what the problem is. It is a memory leak, and there is no easy way to fix it unfortunately.
