mystk
I'm looking for GTAIV memory usage with 2GB RAM under 7 x86 and 7 x64. Can someone who has 2GB RAM and 7 32 bit and/or 7 64 bit please post some screens of Task Manager's performance tab with IV running? Having the settings maxed would really help too, but it's not a must. Thanks a lot in advance . Edited December 27, 2010 by Warlord. Narcis_speed6
I got win7 x86 and 2GB ram ddr3 (had 4 gb but had some problems with it) Highest settings, game runs about 40fps. edit: after a few minutes the memory usage drops Edited December 27, 2010 by Narcis_speed6 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466090-need-some-help-please/#findComment-1060265937 Share on other sites
mystk
Thanks a lot bro. Do you have any stuttering or FPS dips ingame? Are you using an AMD card? Narcis_speed6
I get fps drops when night shadows are turning on , not the whole night , just the day to night crossing (this happens only on gta4, no problems in eflc), I got AMD athlon II x4 620 2.60 GHz. mystk
Thanks narcis, you really helped me a lot . So there's something weird going on. When I run IV maxed at 1280x1024, the game runs fine for a while and eventually crashes, when I go into Task Manager to kill the process the performance tab shows up to (last time it happened, which was before this post) 1.94GB in use (I'm assuming that the crash was because IV didn't have any more RAM to use). Is this a memory leak or what ? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466090-need-some-help-please/#findComment-1060266251 Share on other sites

Is this a memory leak or what ? With that much ram being used, I'm going to have guess that there is some memory swapping going on. Your OS is resorting to your HDD for more RAM, which is much slower then normal RAM. Look at the memory read and write speeds. Over 17GB/s. No where close to any of today's hard drives which don't usually go above 100 MB/s. Get some more RAM. 3-4GB or RAM should be enough Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466090-need-some-help-please/#findComment-1060266459 Share on other sites
mystk
You see the reason why it's weird is because I've was able to run it fine without crashing a while ago, this issue started recently. I guess it's time for a clean install of 7, besides I'm having some other weirder problems with this install too. DocMenach
2GB is the minimum requirement for Windows 7 64 bit. You should really get more RAM. I can't say it would solve all of your problems, but there is a good chance that the constant disk swapping is what is causing your issues. Narcis_speed6
Are you sure you don't have overheating problems? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466090-need-some-help-please/#findComment-1060267147 Share on other sites
mystk
Nah bro, temps are fine. My 7 install is messed up since I didn't do a clean install after switching my motherboard. @DocMenach, Yeah I've been planning to upgrade to 4GB, but the thing is that DDR2 prices have risen and I've got some other stuff to buy as well. I'll give reinstalling 7 a try. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466090-need-some-help-please/#findComment-1060267188 Share on other sites
