Peter13
I finally am playing the original 3D grand theft auto game. Late is better than never. Ok, I'll get to the point. I am stuck on El Burro's Big 'n' Veiny mission. Its the one where you have to drive and pick up all the magazines. I have played it countless times, but always seem to fail. Something gets in my way, the van goes downhill and rolls over and is on fire, or other reasons. Now there are no shortage of experts on these forums. The will only have the problem of remembering this mission because they are too far ahead. If some of them can give me advice it would really help. Thank you and have fun jacking! Icarus
I figure someone might as well give you a response. From my days of playing III, you don't need to collect all the magazines (i.e. if you miss it, continue) since it is a timed mission, but don't skip all of them, because you are on a tight time limit. If you happen to miss one, just keep going, because if you try and turn around to grab it, you'll end up wasting more time and failing the mission. Therefore, my advice is simple: get as many magazines as you can and if you happen to miss one here-and-there, don't stress too much about it - just concentrate on getting the majority of them. Also, you don't have to drive like a maniac, but don't drive like a grandma either. Finn 7 five 11
Great advice right there ^^ i am really glad someone is going back to play GTA III most people don't even bother, which is a real shame since it is a challenging and very fun game. Icarus
Great advice right there ^^ i am really glad someone is going back to play GTA III most people don't even bother, which is a real shame since it is a challenging and very fun game. GTA III is still my favourite game in the GTA series. I wouldn't mind buying a copy of it for PC, but I suck at computer games and I sold my PS2 last year. Someday I'll play it again and relive the memories. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466049-gta-3-help/#findComment-1060280517 Share on other sites
Peter13
I am trying what your saying, but the couple times I have played, my car was upside down on fire in chinatown, and when I went slower I went to the trenton before losing. What am I doing wrong? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466049-gta-3-help/#findComment-1060292322 Share on other sites

What am I doing wrong? Well you need to be careful when you're driving the van as not to make any sudden movements. Since the van has a higher center of gravity, it's more likely to flip over as opposed to a car, which has a lower center of gravity, if you make a sharp turn really fast, for example. You do need to drive at a reasonable speed, but not pedal to the floor. Just be cautious and again, no sudden sharp turns; you need to ease into them, otherwise, your chances of flipping are quite high. fireguy109
I can attest to this mission's difficulty. The easiest way envolves cheats. Use the "great handling," as this will keep the van from tipping. this also makes it a bit squirrely, though. Therefore, I perscribe the "slow down time" cheat. Slo-mo gives you plenty of time to react. I am not sure what platform you're talking about here. If you have a PC I'm not sure if the Slow Down cheat works. If you can't get it or don't want to use cheats, keep getting 6-stars until you have a bunch of tanks, like 12-16. Then park them all together and it should make almost zero cars show up on the road. This will make weaving easier. If you have a PC, you should just use the great handling and giveusatank codes and you should have no problem. Nukey Shay
You can make the journey as short as you want without cheats. The timer begins when you step in the van...but you could push the van wherever you want before you get in it. So, just push it right to the entrance of the shipyard. It takes a while, but there is no chance of running out of time. If any gangs hate you, head East to the main road and push it under the bridge and through Trenton. Peter13
Thank you for all the responses, but I want to play fair. I don't want to push the van all the way over to another location, it just feels like cheating. I need someone who can beat this constantly time and time again. I need advice from an expert that a beginner can understand. I know that this community has no shortage experts, and I need only one to give me advice. I have tried and failed so many times that I am getting sick of playing. Please, can anyone help me? Claude Speed.
What more advice do you want? Everything that is necessary has been said. And don't use the handbrake with this vehicle, it can make you flip over. Holy C's, man, that's the best idea I've ever heard of!! Big'N Veiny just got x6 easier, as I have no qualms about cheating. Peter13
I understand that many are confused about what I would like. I compare changing the start position (by pushing) to cheating. I have had very good advice, and have add a bit more success, but what I don't understand is how to go fast without hitting the other cars. When I go down that very long road that streches from Saint Marks to Chinatown, I almost always hit into a car. I have problems going fast while dealing with the time limit. I am sorry if I am confusing anyone, I just want to pass this level with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Thank you, and I hope that clears things up. Claude Speed.
Just try it over and over again. That's how I managed to pass missions that seemed impossible to me. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/466049-gta-3-help/#findComment-1060322932 Share on other sites
Peter13
I have failed so many times I can not begin to count them. But I do know that at least 5 times (maybe more) my car flipped and went on fire. I also know that I can't go slower or I end up failing do to time. Can anyone help? I was thinking someone make a video or share some tips. I know it seems everything has been said, but I need all the help I can. Thank you for your support so far, but so far I have been on a failing streak. AlfieWilRus
There are countless videos of this mission on youtube. When everything fails, you go to YouTube and even if you still fail you're in luck (PC version only) you have save n play.
