Firefox Not Loading Some Sites

Recommended Posts

So today I come on my laptop to find that I can't access certain sites like www.game.co.uk or www.ign.com but I cn access some other sites like Facebook or GTAForums (obviously). I've tried on IE but it still doesn't work. What's wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Could be a number of things.

First thing I would try is to see if you can access them with another computer in the house. This will narrow down the problem to just that 1 system or the whole network.

In the mean time, while it's not a perfect solution you can try a web proxy like http://www.hidemyass.com

Thanks mate, tried to get onto Game on my dad's PC, which is connected to the same network as my laptop and it didn't work. Also, the site you gave me doesn't load either.

Ok then contact your ISP and talk to them about it.

If you hadn't said that hidemyass.com didn't work then I would have suggested looking into your router settings.Speaking of which I'm assuming you're using a hardware router like a Linksys or something like that or the router it build into the modem. Sometime with these you can block sites. I can see why a parent might want to block the first sites you listed but most parents wouldn't know about hidemyass.com...most average people don't know about it in general.

The only other thing I think of is going to opendns.com and learning how to set your system to use their DNS servers to by-pass your ISPs DNS server(s) which might get you around whatever is causing this.

No websites are blocked, my dad wouldn't know how to do it and he wouldn't do it. I'll ring Orange tomorrow, thanks for your help mate.
