Favourite 80's Tracks?

Recommended Posts

Almost would've made it to the "Classic Rock" topic, but anyways.

https://youtu.be/NHap-YFC1_g

Here's Saga from Canada: 1st track from their 1980 album, "Silent Knight".

Idk what you call them, but I love those really cheesy motivational montage songs from the 80's like Push it to the Limit and Danger Zone, the kind that make you feel like you could do anything. Here's a more obscure example:

Just heard this a few days ago on the radio. Another great track that could be in a new GTA game set in Vice City.

Nice, this thread is right up my alley. I hadn't noticed it up until now.

Well, "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks, which released in 1981, is my favorite song of hers that she had released during the 80's (although it's not my all-time favorite song from her).

Then there's Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight", which had also been released in 1981. Undoubtedly my favorite song from Collins in general.

Not exactly an obscure one, but it's so 1984 it's not even funny. I have it on a cassette from that year... and it still works :D

It's one of my all-time favourite music tracks - if not my absolute favourite. You can't be unhappy after listening to 'Leccy Dreams!

I never heard about the movie neither the track. I know some Moroder productions from the 70's and 80's but this one was unknown to me. The singer looked familiar to me until I checked for his info's on Discogs. I prefer his songs from his 80's band called Human League.

And the beat goes on with the suited gentleman's groove.

From their 1983 album titled Love For Love.

Heard this on magic (Radio station. Plays some good old tunes) the other day :colgate: :

Continuing the theme of music that's been sampled:

I have 2 alltime fav-80s songs. One from the US and the other from what used to be the USSR

My alltime favourite 80s song from west of the iron curtain is Billy Joels "Leningrad"

This song of his starts with the line:
" Viktor was born, the spring of '44... ".

Billy sings about a clown (Viktor) and compares his life in the USA with Viktors in the USSR. Billy Joel was the first western singer to have concerts in Moskow and Leningrad and he met the clown, Viktor, at the Leningrad concerts.

The song ends with the words:
"He made my daughter laugh,
then we embraced.
We never knew what friends we had,
until we came to Leningrad."

Take a look at the bottom link and ignore the video. Click on the description to link you directly to youtube. Now take a look at the comments and at the name of the person who answers to "James Maresca":

It is THE Viktor from the song, commenting !!

This was a nice smooth disco song that I listened to, it made me think of driving around Vice City with SkyGFX and Trail Effects feature on during dusk on my PC.

The keyboard beats are sick in this song along with Michael Jackson's "hee-hee!" sample on it:

This is probably the hardest topic I've ever had to reply to, there's an endless list of great 80's tracks. However, these were the first two that I came up with.

The epitome of 80's ballads imo.

I grew up listening to a lot of 80's tunes mainly because my mother used to play them all the time, if it hadn't been for her, i'd probably would have never discovered them.

But anyways here are my most favorite tracks from the 80's era.

I'm going to bend the rules a bit. I see nothing in the OP that says the song or tune can't be one exclusive to a movie or series. I don't see anywere it must be from a recognised artist. As such the first song is from the eightys, just one a few will know. (PS it was officially released into the charts, just not in the UK (or in English for that matter))

Back to something more recognisable

Love "Bubblegum Crisis", but the original Japanese versions. Best anime soundtrack ever.

Have to agree, but I still tend toward the english soundtrack. There are a few other songs that would have worked over here, such as Never the End. In any case I still watch BGC for the tunes and mayhem. Great series.

Back on topic

here are two more (and a link to another funny version)
