In Real LifeCall Of Duty Giant Suing Rival Over Modern Warfare Meltdown, Paints Uglier PictureretweetBy Stephen Totilo on December 22, 2010 at 1:00 PMThe nasty lawsuits between Call of Duty publisher Activision and the ousted lead creators of that hit series franchise just got uglier with accusations that the makers of Modern Warfare gleefully sabotage the sister studio behind this year?s Call of Duty: Black Ops ? and that the president of rival EA was instrumental in trying to ?hijack? the Call of Duty developers.

Not really feeling sympathy for both parties but I do hope EA win

This has been going on for a while now, and yet nothing ever comes out of sh*t like this. All the developers end up doing is using stupid nonsense like this to get free publicity for their games. Look at Grand Theft Auto 3, and San Andreas. CNN, and Fox News practically sold millions of copies of those games just cause they wouldn't shut the f*ck up about them. Same thing is going to happen here; notice the name dropping in the titles? This kind of mess is a marketers wet dream.

If there claims of what West and Zampella did are true then they kind of deserve what they get, what they did was a pretty dick move.

This suing sh*t is getting ridiculous though. A contract is a contract, you have to honour it once signed even if you don't like it.

personally i hope both companies implode on themselves....

2K deserves the NFL licenses WAY more than EA Sports... NFL 2K5 is still viewed as the best NFL game... and the game is almost six f*cking years old.... and is part of the previous generation of consoles lmao

EA are great these days, a lot of people hate on them for stuff they've done in the past but in recent years they've helped a lot of developers, even to the point where they rescued whole teams from Activision themselves, companies like Double Fine and of course most of those who left Infinity Ward.

Tech wise EA are brilliant, always looking for ways to improve the engines they invest in, unlike Activision who STILL use their old game engines from 2007 to release games without any major improvements.

Why fix what isn't broken? They have a stable, decent-looking engine that is capable of running at 60fps on consoles.

If anything, it's called being clever with money.

I think the issue with Activision's engines is that they don't have the incentive to develop better engines.

Take MW2 for example, the graphics are really inferior compared to some of the newer engines, and yet it has sold way more copies than it's nearest competitor (with a much better engine) BC2.

So the issue is lack of competition. Other devs need to push harder, a lot harder.

Oh and I wouldn't mind a game which has okay graphics if it had good gameplay, but MW2 doesn't have either bored.gif.

The issue with Activision is the lack of vision. They focus on sequels and they don't give a f*ck about innovations. They stick with old sh*t as long as they can and when it becomes unprofitable they get rid of the entire studio. They are a virus on gaming industry.

I am not a CoD fan and I dont play it at all, but Activision really loses its rep. Back on my PS2 I had many Activision titles like Tony Hawk but now they only not make sh*t games, no they also make retarded and overprized DLCs and sue game developers cause of sh*t.

My two cents.

Because this kind of thinking is what makes the gaming industry as much of a corporate wasteland as the non-underground music industry is these days.

I though most console games were only able to go to 30fps.

Guys, what ever happened to ActiBlizzard?

Activision still owns Blizzard.... their full name is actually Activision Blizzard.... but Kotick is f*cking smart enough to not f*ck with Blizzard and their works.... EA is similar too with BioWare..
