K^2, do you have any preview for me ? (pm)

Edit: What's the problem with multi-channel sounds again? Is it just a lack of converters? I've hacked sound files before, I guess I can take a look and see if I can figure out the file format.

It's a lack of converters and information.

The compressed sounds (radio, Niko sounds) are IMA ADPCM encoded, but in a special way. Especially the multi channel sounds.

I just tried replacing a sound in a single channel compressed IVAUD file by encoding to IMA ADPCM, in which I succeeded (so yeah folks there's some progress!!11!):

But it sounds crappy. Here's the source for comparison:

http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/7139956/file.html

I tried using Cool Edit Pro, Audacity and the Windows Sound Recorder. All with the same crappy result. So probably there's something different in the encoding progress.

A plan is to use SparkIV's decoding code, and reverse it. But I didn't have the time yet, nor it looks like it's easy.

If you would like to help, sure, it would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

I've actually written ADPCM decoders for unpacking game sounds before. I'll take a look.

Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.

Okay, thanks. The open-source SparkIV has a decoding feature, also for multichannel. Only we need to reverse this to create an encoder.

I've found this; but I don't know how to use it really. I'm not very into audio processing (blocks etc):

If there is source for decoder I'll write up an encoder no probs. Just let me finish with the flight stuff first.

Allright. I've added you on MSN, so I'll send the decoding code.

I'm practically never on MSN, but feel free to send it to associated e-mail account.

Put all basic surfaces in places, got the roll working, and the thing still flies less stable than the clipped-wing. I know why. I need that angular velocity vector. I've been pushing it away because I know the code for it will get messy, but I guess I don't have a choice now.

Anyone knows how many ticks per second the engine runs? I'll write up a counter if not; no problems.

Gunther - Ding Dong Song?so gay music. lol.

anyway , good progress , at least we can make sounds that doesnt require much 'things' like voices, then , the worse quality almost dont appear

2 Questions:

First:

If you could replace multichannel sounds, would you still use the scripthook or would you guys convert the sounds for the IV soundfiles?

second:

Does the video edior work, with san andreas radio sounds?

Use torrent. It's going to be easier and faster.

second:

No, the Video Editor actually has a separate archive of music (Full Mix Versions, non-Radio Versions), which would require .ivaud editing to replace.

1. Even IF you can change multichannel ivaud, it's very very unlikely we will use it for radio.

- There are DAT files with radio information in them, like songs.

- IV has 18 radio stations, SA 11, what to do with the other 7? (you will need to make a script that bypasses the other 7, so a script will always be required)

2. No, just place your own music under it.

Cant the number be changed? In EFLC there is a different amount. I think EFLC may have 11, but I cant remember.

Nice efficiency from rahkstar2.gif there... they should've used the SA system of splitting the songs into beginning, middle and end and changing the beginning and end depending on the situation! tounge.gif

How about distant lights, and GPS?

Or are you not going to do GPS, because GPS wasnt realy around in the 90's? Or you may do it, but get rid of the voice.

You sure about that ash?

The RPF files contain each song seperate, along with the 'dj' sound and some other sounds that come randomly.

The video editor can simply ignore those oher sounds.

Yep, I'm sure, not all songs can be used by the video editor, this was revealed by Rockstar that they could only licence certain tracks for the Video Editor (I don't get it either) but this also covers the base for songs that are on Radio Stations that are not separate, but full mix, stations like ElectroChoc, The Beat, Massive B, Vladivostok FM (TBOGT), L.C.H.C (TLAD), etc.

You'll find the audio that the video editor uses in the file "radio_extratracks.rpf".

I need to add correction for rotation, but otherwise, aerodynamics is done. Once I finish that and fix some bugs in the controls, the Shamal will be basically flyable. After that, I need to create separate profiles for different aircraft, make the animations for control surfaces consistent with simulation, and finally add some stuff that makes flying a bit easier. Specifically, I want to add auto-trim and auto-rudder. Maybe some corrections to throttle as well. It will make turns, level flight, and landings a lot easier, while still allowing player full control.

Edit: And the algorithm I wrote for angular velocity does work well enough, so I should have all hat mess sorted shortly.

Glad to hear no ENB, the game runs a lot better without it and I've always found it too over the top.

K^2, can't wait to see your flight sim code in action biggrin.gif

Haha. Does that even work?

Anyway, it just isn't the same as selecting the radio stations in the game, with the radio noise sound, and the logo.
