Cannot find 800x600x32 Video Mode

Recommended Posts

Hey there guys! I'm having a little bit of a problem.

Everytime I try to run GTA:SA for PC, it says could not find 800x600x32 video mode.

I cannot change my resolution to 800x600, my lowest res is 720x576, and the closest to that is 1280x720

Here is the required information:

Operating system : Windows 7

ATI Radeon HD 5570 1GB DDR3 Dedicated Graphics

Intel Core i5 Quad Core 2.8 GHz 760 Processor

8 GB DDR3 RAM

I have a legit CD and don't know what the problem is!

First, Remember, that you can ONLY change the resolution before you either start a new game OR Load a save...it will not allow you to change it once you have started a game session...Also, you can right click on the .exe and click the compatibilty tab and select the lower resolution there. Are you sure your monitor supports higher resolutions?

Also, because of this line, I doubt this is a legit version, because SA is on DVD, not CD...So, with that being said, Are you using the Original DVD or a No-DVD crack? Any Mods or Cleo scripts? Have you tried updating ALL your drivers for the Video card, Sound card, DX, etc.?

Also, have you tried going into the Control Panel and seeing what settings your video card is set for?-It might be set for 16-bit rather than 32-bit by default. You mentioned that you have two settings available, so, do those two work or not(the 720X576 and 1280X720)? Hope this helps...

That is true only for GTA III and Vice City. San Andreas allows you to change the resolution even after you've started/loaded a savegame.

@wurklash: This could be an OS related issue. Try running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode and see if it makes any difference.
