Things you hate the most in GTA III

Well, no swimming isn't really a problem. The only thing that I DISLIKE would be the Idaho and Esperanto. Also, it's really annoying how it's basically impossible to visit Portland, due to the damn Leones killing you in 2 seconds.

The Esperanto wasn't bad for me. I actually liked it a bit. smile.gif

The lack of a map.

Why do people hate this so much? If you want a map so bad, get a foldable one, or just look one up on the internet and print it out. GTA III has a memorable map, too. It's not hard to get used to. I literally know every place in GTA III's LC.

Also, it would've been nice to bail out of vehicles. Cars blow up fast on GTA III/LCS. There's not much time to get out and get away from the car.

I agree, after playing Vice City for a long time I try to bail out of vehicles on fire in III biggrin.gif Fail.

Also, having no map is not a problem at all. It isn't a huge map so once you know your way around it becomes a lot easier. The iOS and Android versions have maps built in

I dislike so many things in this game, but I prefer to focus on those I like.

Thats the best way to be smile.gif

All games have their flaws but at the end of the day it does not make them any less playable smile.gif

And I would not say that this is a problem. At the end of the day he is gone and we should accept that... no one will ever know.

Also, driving a perennial up a hill colgate.gif now that is also very funny.

That the police only chased the player and not others. They wouldn't even stop others who attacked the player.

This. They won't even stop others who attack them! For example, they won't go after a gang of Triads while the Triads are all shooting at you and chasing you with baseball bats. In fact, you can use a street cop as a shield from their 9mm handguns and the cop will just walk along taking bullets (it takes four 9mm bullets to waste a cop) without even giving a damn. If you shoot a cop, even by missing a ped, you get 2 stars and the 0-1 star cop will run away while armed police turn up in the next car or two (with 2 in each car).

If an NPC car rams the back of a cop car, they also don't do a thing. If you get in a fender bender with a cop car, even if it's a moronic/erratic driver cop that has actually hit your car (e.g. the ones which overtake all cars, drives on the sidewalk, runs over peds and doesn't stop at red lights), you get 1 star and he'll get out and attempt to bust you. Only because it's the player character no less.

If an NPC car runs over a street cop, nothing happens aside from his gun showing up as a usable item. Even if there is a cop car nearby, the NPC doesn't get 1-2 stars for running over him. By contrast, you only have to perform an attempted hit and run on a cop and you get a wanted level.

If a ped gets in a punch-on with a cop, the cop will punch back. However, if a ped/gang member shoots a cop, the cop either just takes it (as stated above) or even runs away. I was in Saint Mark's 2 days ago (new game) and there were five peds all fighting with a cop. Cop lost, of course, and there was actually a second cop walking around at the time who didn't even intervene. You, on the other hand, only have to jack your own car back from a carjacker while there's a cop nearby and you will get 1 star for stealing 'his' vehicle. On a similar note, in Vice City, the helicopters on the roof of the Vercetti (Diaz) Mansion and Hyman Condo are apparently NOT yours either, and will add a felony to your list or even bump up your wanted level one star if you were right at the maximum amount of that particular wanted level.

However, my biggest gripe with GTA3 is bailing from vehicles. If your car goes on fire on impact with something and then flips over or rolls, you are guaranteed wasted. The same can be said if your vehicle is moving ever-so-slightly and teetering on the edge of a cliff, like the 'hole' near Salvatore's, or the mountainous area in Shoreside Vale where you do Gripped!, it's guaranteed that it will topple down the mountain in all directions with you inside, and you'll end up in the water despite it being miles away from the cliff face. Just because you couldn't exit the vehicle because it was slowly sliding downhill while doing 0.01mph.

Additionally, the damage properties. If you are hit by a car, you lose health, fair enough. If you are hit by certain vehicles, such as a Yankee or Enforcer, you constantly lose armor and health until you are wasted because you didn't go straight under the wheels and became a grille ornament instead. In a similar manner, if an asshole (usually a cop) parks their car on top of you, you are also wasted, 1HP at a time (similar effect to drowning, as it doesn't drain your armor).

Also, the Mafia and their blow-up-your-car-instantly shotguns. How can they blow up your car when they have locked onto your character who is in the driver's seat and they're shooting through the windows? It's not like San Andreas where every car has a gas tank that can be carefully aimed at for an instant explosion. Also, why can NPCs lock onto you in a car anyway? You can't lock onto drivers in cars in PS2/classic control mode. They can even lock onto you while not even facing you, literally shooting you with one hand behind their back. No matter what happens, when you press R1 or its workalike to target peds, it will only target those in front of you, even when you change targets.

If you are carjacked from the driver's side, you are ALWAYS thrown out and fall on your back, hand held up like a pathetic schoolgirl crying after she has been pushed over, and if it's an angry ped/gang member and not someone who just wants their car back, it always means you cop at least one punch and lose health/armor, even if it's an old granny who's pissed off that you stole her conveniently-placed Manana while you had 3 stars (until it was surrounded by cop cars and/or rammed into the wall, making it impossible to drive away). Apparently, granny's fist deals more damage than a copping a bullet from a Cartel member's Uzi. "I'm an old lady forchrissakes!" Even those who run away still land on their feet to start with, yet this animation isn't available to the player character. There's only a select few NPCs who do fall out and on their back, and it's usually the ones who shuffle/limp along and fall over if you walk into them, like the red-haired guy or the grey docks worker. I gather that the lack of the standing animation is simply so that a cop can bust you since you're on the ground rather than on foot, although, they can bust you on the spot anyway if they want (e.g. if the door is still open, or if you have no doors at all, for example a beat-up Rhino).

You might fine with it, but it still bugs me wink.gif

They aren't shooting at you, they are just shooting at your car. Two hits with a shotgun is enough to blow up any car in the game, it's not just them.

This. Targetting in GTA III sucked real hard.

Well, there is no targeting system if you are using the keyboard+mouse setup on PC, you have to use classic mode to get the target system to work on smaller guns. Of course, this means that the gameplay will be more like Mario 64 in the sense that Claude can only walk forward and the camera only moves when it wants to (e.g. when you are moving). However, Lakitu and his hopeless camera-holding skills is not in GTA3, so it's slightly bit better. smile.gif

All my current and future gripes have been mentioned with the game. Now I'm off to finish Portland before the s*itstorm commences.

I don't like how only the first 20 vigilante/firefighter missions count on each island. Last night I did the 100 fires only to found out that only the first 20 counted but I'm happy I managed to finish level 12 of the paramedic missions.

I hate Leone mobs, especially ones with shotguns, cant hang out around St marks and other their territory.

This. Being in your car doesn't help as they can just blow it up with 2 shots.

I also hate how the military has machine guns that can take away all your health and armor in 1 second.

wanted to add another one to this: jumping.

the jumping in this game is ridiculous and should've been taken out, i say. then just make all the hidden packages on the ground where we can reach em. devs shoulda spent more time working on the targeting than even bothering to make the jumping. bored.gif

anyway I hate gta 3 because early on when ur in Portland the missions are boring and there isn't that many good explosions or people dying even vice cityhillary king got shot but anyway I did the flying cars cheat on the exploded bridge and it wasn't worth s*** there isn't much to explore and the lasting appeal out of ten is 4 in sa u could still go on dates and even with vice city u had a big mansion not that late in the game! cool.gif
