Things you hate the most in GTA III

Lock n' Stock

A few times I've managed to fly the Dodo so far outside the map that my game crashed.

A lot of things I dislike about GTA III, namely the large amount of gang hostility you encounter upon completing the game, the clunky shooting mechanics and over-aggressive police. Despite that, game's still a f*ckin' classic.

Hmmm nice bike

I think I managed to fly the Dodo all the way to the western edge of Staunton Island before flipping it over in mid-air and crashing into the street below. I'm sure part of the reason they made it so difficult to fly was to keep people from flying out of the boundaries of the map. Shoreside Vale was landlocked and I don't think they had an infinite ocean like there was in every other game, was there?

The police in III and VC both seemed to be overly-aggressive, but I don't think I minded that as much as I minded having to avoid most areas of Portland to avoid the gangs. That really is the biggest thing I dislike about the game, how they basically made it extremely hard to ever go back to St. Marks without a bulletproof vehicle. That and the overpowered shotguns that all of the Leone's were carrying that blow your car up in about two shots.

Not being able to properly fly the Dodo or get to Ghost Town. The tunnels behind Cedar Grove have an invisible wall.

Probably the fact you couldn't enter the tunnel in Shoreside. As a kid I tried getting through it many times, hoping it'd lead me to that observation building you see in the distance.

Same. I had tried so many methods to reach the observatory. Even tried to jump over the hills but it was too steep.

Rockstar should have atleast made it accessible in LCS but nope.

Never being able to visit gang controlled areas ever again without a BP car and Joyride being censored on Lips 106.

- You can't access the tunnel in Shoreside
- The half winged dodo
- Can't bail out of a car
- Can't crouch
- Can't swim

....and that's all I hate about the game ;)

There's another thing I forgot to post: trees.

It's not about their presence or the trees themselves, it's about if they are solid or trespassable. Usually next to road ones are solid, which is okay but why the other ones aren't? It might be good for making shortcuts but the irreality of not solid ones... in some caees there are even trespassable ones next to the streets.

Oh and I realized about something more. Subway red control lights (the ones in the mid of the tunnel) are all trespassable except in Portland station. That's the same of the

trees.

Also I don't like non breakable streetlights, which are indestructible whatever is your speed and what you are driving when you crash into them.

Disappearing, single use, disposable cars, as in other GTAs. In the other two games it was 'fairly' safe to park one car and drive another, but in GTA III my car seemed to disappear often for unknown reason while I was still close to it, noticed happening several times by the docks.

I tried to use the Bulletproof Patriot to collect hidden packages on the first island, and was disappointed that I had to reload and redo it when my car was gone.

The SAMP model, where the player first parks a car in a designated area, and is guranteed to always respawn it there would work much better, even if the limited console had such short memory, and the car instance was forgotten. We can't really use any special or beautiful cars for any jobs, and must keep them under lock.

You Can't run with two handed weapons and bat

Mission design was kinda sh*t as there isn't much shooting involved

No outfits

Awful auto aiming system

Boats felt clunky to use

You can't bail out.

Evil empire

-The fact you can't drive bikes or helicopters

-The weapons lack of precision

-The beach is too isolated and always empty

-You don't have any train-driving job

-You can't sell ice-cream

-You can't make any pizza delivery

-You can't increase your health and armor past 100

-You need to make long detours to reach some places very close of your departure location in Shoreside

-Completing the firefighter job doesn't make you immune to the fire

Yeah I do wish there was more to do for 100 percent but I'm fine with no bikes and helis as the flying mechanics would be balls and also applies to vc. Stunt jumps were a b*tch to do without bikes.

Cars already felt quite nimble

PC version = 30 fps or amazing physic glitches.

Don't know if it's relevant to you anymore, but even if it isn't someone else might be able to learn something.

You can lift the frame limiter cap from 30fps to 60fps via a .ini (I believe you need silent patch) and the game will still be stable. You can also take the frame limiter off and cap the game at 60fps via your GPU's control panel

@Topic:

- The stupid overpowered weapons vs the weak vehicles

- Many side activities being near impossible due to overpowered gang members

- Layout of Shoreside Vale

- Not having the map accessible in-game.

I hate that we aren't able to get revenge on King Courtney, I probably hated him more than Catalina cause at least you can send her to kingdom come, but the great King made us do all his dirty work and then the manner in which he ambushes us, don't know why we were supposed to just let that slide

The yardies in the 3D era were kinda weird, even in LCS they randomly become hostile to Toni IIRC, completely different to their HD era version.

  • trying to get the rocket launcher on top of the rooftop of the house near the dam on the final mission, under that ticking timer, bouncing off of the rooftop, or the ambulance you line up to get up there in the first place, usually bouncing claude a ways away and taking precious health for that last mission.
  • the fact that GTA isn't like this anymore.

RIP Rockstar Games

1998 - 2021

-Almost every gang becomes unnecessarily hostile at some point, worst offenders are shotgun mafia basically making Saint Marks and Harwood off limits

-the broken Dodo

-the offroad missions

-no health boost aside from that you get from hookers

-lack of menu map

I have been playing the PC version for 12 years now. Never had the stock game crash for me, unless the game was modded or the files were tampered with. Not sure where you get this idea from. And yes, a legitimate, non-cracked disk version from 2001 or later does matter actually. I have a 2-disk version of CD Rom's from 2001 (version 1.0).

Having only a HUD radar might be ok, but it's pretty much useless if the goddamn blips disappear after certain missions.
