I still like the game but i have to admit the gangs coming after you is a bit much, its like they have special vision, no matter what car you drive they know its you and start firing or running towards you. its just not realistic and it gets annoying.

You have to remember back when GTA3 was released there was nothing else like it and there has been some pretty poor attempts to be like GTA too anybody played "True Crime new york city" ? play this then complain about GTA3 . Its worth having the game just so you can see how a GTA clone shouldnt be.

I dislike the Landstalker and the aiming in the ps2 version, since the camera doesn't always resets to Claude's back, so you can't see who are you shooting at, but that's an early 2000's thing.

just do it bob3

Not having 360 rotation. This was a problem in VC as well. I hated it and made the game feel clunky and weird. They fixed this in the mobile version of the game (III and VC), but this was still a huge pain and annoying.

-You can't drive bikes

-The cars handling sucks

-You can't drive helicopters

-You don't have any train-driving job like in San Andreas

-There's no land beyond the Shoreside Vale tunnels

-There isn't any stadium challenge

-You can't sell ice-cream like in Vice City

-You can't buy companies

It was indeed a icecream truck but it wasnt icecream being sold out of it

-The fact that you can't bail out of cars.

-The aiming system is godawful.

-No bikes.

-Did i mention those stupid Leones at Portland? I was just taking a drive there and then all of the sudden, BOOM.

-Silence the Sneak.

-The scope is insanely out of control.

I will think of more.

Typhus

There's actually very little I hate about the game. However, I do dislike the fact that after The Exchange, the Colombians aren't wiped out as a gang. I mean, sh*t, you've crippled their drug ring, you've killed their leader, you've mowed down dozens of their soldiers, by the end of the game they should be either gone or severely reduced.

Same for the Triads now that I think about it. Blowing up their factory should have been the death blow for the whole faction.

Hmmm nice bike

It's easy to forgive a game like GTA III, since it was the first 3D installment of the series. But if I really had to nitpick...

  • The Leones and their f*cking shotguns. It made exploring the St. Marks district without a tank or the bulletproof Patriot impossible after you killed Sal, and you actively had to avoid it anytime you went back to Portland.
  • All of the gangs coming after you by the end of the game. If you weren't being blown up by the Leones, the Triads or Colombians were shooting at you constantly and dragging you out of your car. I get that they all obviously had reasons for hating you, but it could have been toned down a lot (and as Typhus mentioned, some of these gangs should have a severe shortage of members by the time the game is over anyway)
  • The fact that cars get destroyed way too easily. I guess this is more realistic than not in some cases, since a car in real life would be disabled without even a strong crash as long as the engine or one of the wheels is destroyed, but I guess it's not as fun when you're used to later GTAs with cars that are able to take a bit more of a beating, and not catch on fire from one shotgun blast (and explode in two simultaneous ones, as the Leones prove)
  • Shoreside Vale was kind of difficult to navigate at first
  • The mission "Espresso-2-Go"

-You can become a millionaire just by driving a cab but there us nothing to spend the money on

-Ridiculously hard missions like E2G and Escort Service

-No reward for 100% completion

-Purple nine glitch

Hot Pursuit

There's not much I hate in III considering this is a revolutionary game but

  • Gangs are too hostile toward Claude, only 20% portion of portland that are safe to travel after the end
  • Leones and their shotgun
  • insanely hard mission, toward endgame, enemies armed with M-16, AK-47, and Shotguns, this game really unforgiving back then

Is it me or are the skies often gloomy outside?

It doesn't have the songs and stations as subsequent GTAs did.

Really though, how can I hate too much on a game so revolutionary? It pioneered the series we all know and love.

- No Bikes like LCS (Due to Bikes were already banned after LCS storyline)

- Leone Mafia and the NIGHTMARE Shotgun after killing Salvatore

- Shoreside Vale feels so small (If you looked at the beta map, Shoreside Vale looks more suburban)

- Unable to swim like GTA SA

- Cop/FBI keeps ram at me during 3-6 Wanted Level, unless driving with the fastest cars like Cheetah, Infernus, Stinger and Banshee

- Stupid black & white LAPD-ish, Police Livery (in LCS, R* change the livery with 2 strips like in the beta GTA 3 but also black and white)

- Portland is too small

- M16 is overpowered weapons and they can kill you within less than 1 second

- Espresso-2-Go! mission is the hardest mission i've ever played and I decide to skip mission by replacing the save file.

-Possible to miss 100%-completion with wrong mission order

-Too much hostility from gangs even post-story

-Money is abundant with no real use

-Too few spawn-points for boats, making them little use for quick traveling etc

-VERY repetitive gang-members dialogues

You don't get any reward for the 100% completion.

The game has a lot of other things i hate/dislike but fortunately some mods like mini-commander and the ultimate trainer helped me fix/get rid of them. :-)

Claude as a protagonist. Back then it made sense but now he is just lame.

The story in general is lacking and hasn't aged well.

The awful vehicle handling. Am currently trying to 100% GTA 3 and the paramedic missions are near impossible.

When you redo a unique stunt ater the 100% completion the game freezes and the code to accelerate time makes it go insanely fast.

Claude sucks.

Never truly understood what was the point of Dodo, it was there to tease you, but it was impossible to fly with. Why put it there? Even if somehow you managed to fly with it you will soon learn that most skyscrapers and other high buidlings don't have collision on them, and if you go too far game will crash.

Lack of smaller islands, you had boats but you can't travel anywhere with them.

What's up with Donald Love and the package? You go all through that so you just can see him disappear?

When I was a kid, there was an urban legend going on in my neighborhood that if you complete game to 100%, the collapsed tunnel in Shoreside Vale would open up leading you to 4th city, but nothing happens when you complete 100% at all, I was really disappointed at that.

Mafia is way too overpowered with their shotguns, on a good side, Rockstar didn't gave them rocket launchers.

In my opinion, they could have kept some sort of gang respect game mechanic from GTA 2, so if you shoot a rival gang, other gangs will become more friendly towards you.

But besides that, it was an awesome game.

I think it's annoying how easy it is to earn cash in the game. The Taxi missions for example can earn you thousands of dollars, and you even get money for things like smashing in to other cars (though granted not as much). I kinda wish there was a way to lower things like side-mission payouts and remove the random money you get from destroying stuff...

One thing that is kind of anoying in GTA 3 is that the columbian gangstrers seem to have limited vocabulary and once you are surrounded by them the only thing that you will hear is the sentence that goes like 'you want a chain bling bingo' or something like that.

I thought they were saying you wanna chainsaw gringo but I catually kinda liked that

Am Shaegar

When coming from spending hundreds of hours playing GTA 2, the first couple of hours were not really as exciting as I experienced from playing GTA 2 after release, and after completing the game, the standard story missions felt really dull and lacked the fun factor and surprising amount of variety of GTA 2. Moost of the GTA III missions are like the same thing getting repeated over and over again. I don't want to complain about other factors since the game was still good for it's time despite the technical issues, and dated mechanics (yup, it was dated even for it's time compared to other brilliant games released in and around that year).

But, the dull campaign and lack of interesting things to do, cannot be excused or overlooked easily, especially, when the same developer managed to offer one hell of a fun, little game GTA 2 packed with awesome missions, and features that are still not possible to experience in other GTA's. Even the map of GTA 2 was much more gritty, diverse and felt quite out of the box than the LC, which has a brilliant atmosphere, but it misses out on being a great map (and a game).

Never liked how you can't climb over things and how, without a mod, tyres cannot be popped.

Likely been mentioned before, but that exists in the PC versions. Just change the control setup to "Classic".

There are a lot of things which could have been added like bailing out of the car or a crouch animation. Instead rock star decided not to add them. Not sure if it was due to game engine restrictions or whether they wanted to add them in future GTAs.

Probably the fact you couldn't enter the tunnel in Shoreside. As a kid I tried getting through it many times, hoping it'd lead me to that observation building you see in the distance.

I don't think Rockstar realized at the time they developed the game that these tunnels would become the point of interest that they were. I remember at one point assuming that they were leftovers from another area that ended up being cut from the game, but I guess it was just their way of preventing you from leaving the city.

At least LCS opened it up, only for it to loop around and have another road inside of it blocked off.
