cactus.
how about we get dat gay ass bullsh*t from Persues and da gangsta sh*t from SA, yo? In addition to the sloppy/casual/sporty/ganster/classy attire, there really ought to be special items of clothing and accessories that you can acquire, such as: Clothing - Scientist's lab coat - Road worker's vest - Military fatigues - Police Uniform - Tuxedo Accessories - Surgical mask for face - Hard hat - A cape - Nixon mask just to name a few. SBSkater
I just want more interchangable styles for our character. With Niko you just had clothes that fit his character theme, some poor scumbag fresh off the boat, but sometimes I don't want to play as that type of person. Sometimes I wanna make him a mafia-type so I go to Perseus and fit him with a fresh suit, but still the choices are sh*t. I want stores that have quality styles so I can look like hip hop/drug dealer. That's pretty much what it comes down to. I mean I don't dress up characters in video games according to what I would wear in real life, but according to some kind of character or theme I want for them. So something like this? Yeah that looks really good...NOT haha what movie was this from? and yeah screw all these wiggers wanting "gangsta' sh*t in every gta. Hodgey.
I think added more clothes in game would let people feel closer to their character as it would represent more of your style in the game. However unlike SA i dont want to have to work out in the gym to get bigger to go to the barbers for a haircut or any of that, for me i just want more types of clothes for my character to make it fel a bit more personalised. xgtamontariox
I agree with this thread, SA had a perfect mixture of clothes, tatty as well as luxurious. The type of clothing depended on the are of where you were. They should really take the aspects of clothing from SA and take that into V. I thought personally that IV's clothing was a bit of a disappointment. Chrill
I loved the whole person modification system in San Andreas. Body-building, tattoos, haircuts, clothes, the lot. That provided a very interesting aspect - I hope it returns in the next game. I would also love to see more special clothing. Sure, there is the medic outfit and the one from the Statue of Happiness, but I would like to see more such styles. Finn 7 five 11
I liked changing the clothes around evry so often in SA, just tot freshen it up a little, there were barely any clothes available in IV, much more customization would by a nice little add-on. I don't want it like SA though were the shirts/jumpers were preset, i want it so you can put on a blue shirt, then a jacket on top and the blue shirtis still there (you know what i mean?) junkpile
i agree - more clothes in general are needed but defo more "smart" looking stuff, and high end "luis"-style ones. More customisation too - maybe a saint row style system? how's the saints row system? People still end up buying the most expensive suit and that's all they wear. Sort of a poor mans complex. not true. I actually prefer Binco/russian shop clothes. Then Modo, then Perseus. which shall not imply that I don't like the suits there. Morsaw
IMO Modification should be done to an extent, I mean I think Niko would look good with a Buzz Cut, but I dont want people to turn Niko into a A Clown Nosed Transvestite. DoubleOGJohnson
There are already some luxurious clothing like G&B and Gnoochi GTA IV, you just cant buy it since they made half the city inaccessible. IMO, Los Santos blew Liberty City out of the water as far as fashion. Los Santons had Mint, Vulgari, Crowlex, Kevin Clone, Tableau, Gnocchi, Ranch, Victim, Didier Sachs, Eris and Cogs. In Liberty City you got Detritus, G&B, Brawls, Ranch, Canyon, Gaulle, Didier Sachs, De Koch etc. Rockstar just needs to start letting people shop like they did in GTA San Andreas, they were lazy ass hell and gave us like 3 or 4 stores in GTA IV. I dont know what Rockstar was thinking when they scaled back the clothing selection, or maybe they just lazy. EmPty CaSInGz
San Andreas had it pretty much spot-on, in that you could buy almost any kind of clothes. Still, to me, Niko looks best in his default clothes. The saints row system has different layers - "undershirts" (vests t shirts...), Overshirts (T shirts, jumpers etc) and coats. Then there's socks and shoes and pants (plus hats and shades, chains and rings). All clothing items can be recoloured too, and many can be changed style (jeans - stonewashed, plain, battered etc). Really adds to customisation @the dude above me - short sleeves - YES. I think IV lacked them because its set in autumn - its meant to be cold. SA's system was ok - but the range of clothes wasn't for me - alot of them sucked, so i had the same few outfits i wore (except on PC where i'd modded). Also there needs to be a change to CHANGING clothes. It takes TOO F*CKING LONG to find one outfit. I think there should be a little menu - with a small thumbnail and name of the item, where you can scroll through quickly. then press A/X to put the item on. Maybe that won't be perfect but there needs to be a quicker way to change. Typhus
I believe that it all depends on the protagonist. Niko, Johnny and Luis were - at the core - very loyal and grounded people. Brutal, yes. But loyal and realistic. So, it makes sense that they wouldn't dress in a way that would get them all sorts of unwanted attention. But some criminals do exactly the opposite. I read this story about a black crack dealer. He was operating in Gambino turf or something, and gave interviews to the press and became a local celebrity. He wore zebra-print suits, fine coats and feathered hats. He wore gold and had a magnificent car. He thought he was a big man, the king of the criminal world. But the Mafia rolled their eyes and knew what would happen. This guy got busted and he got put away for the rest of his life. Whether the story is even true, I'm not sure. But it makes a good point. The criminals who wear 'luxurious clothes' often invite trouble. And I think we need another protagonist who is like that. Only Vercetti really exhibited those traits, but we need to go further. We need the gold cars and the polar-bear skin coats. Niko went from rags to better rags. But the new protagonist needs to be a vulagr, publicity hungry monster who wants to take over the city. Better, more tasteless clothes are a big part of this. He needs clothes that make it loud and clear that he's a thief, a drug dealer and a killer. This guy shouldn't try to hide. After all, we've just had three main characters who seemed to be doing that exact same thing (Though Luis does hobnob with local celebrities). Great topic by the way Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/465434-luxurious-clothes/page/2/#findComment-1060285565 Share on other sites
Tyla
You guys are going to have to forgive me for quoting my own post, but I would love to see something like this regarding luxurious and over the top forms of dress, ...he should also have a distinctive aura about him in terms of appearance. As he eventually becomes a powerful man, I would this to be reflected in his manner as his position evolves. If we use six-foot-three, 16 – 18 stone Craig Fairbrass as the basis of Raymond’s player model, the effect on the player would be the same as when shifting from Niko Bellic to Johnny Klebitz and finding that the 230 pound biker is more sluggish in his handling and runs hunched, with a limp. Not only would they be physically above most of the NPC models Caine walks past on the street, the reach of his punch would be greater, the impact of his punching would inflict more damage, and he would walk with a confident swagger in his step and run as though he is a charging bull: the mental effect would be that you are playing as someone bigger, stronger, and above everyone else. Player-character immersion at its finest. To increase the feeling of power, clothing is not only hideously reflective of early eighties trends but is based highly on so-called ‘power dressing’; flaunting one’s wealth. Imagine splashing out on a suit for £5,000; a wide-shouldered suit that makes the player model look even bigger than it originally is. And what about the ability to purchase shoes with lifts inserted, as John Wayne would once do? Even with a two-inch lift, that would stand the player model at 6’5”, 6’6”, reflecting the image of ego akin to that Caine himself would have in his head. How better to say “Do you know who the f*ck I am?” than by showing up to a party in your £75,000 Infernus, dressed in your £5,000 suit, having just arrived from your £500,000 boat on the Thames? The shoes with lifts may be a little abstract, but picture a gang boss like Vercetti boosting himself above all others. Gotti used to do the same. The protagonist would be walking around on screen above all of the other character models, which would pretty much sum up his position in the game world wouldn't it? And how about something like 'looting' in Red Dead Redemption, but using the feature to take trophies from enemies you have downed? I believe the Westies did something like this - they cut off a rivals head and walked around Hells Kitchen with it. Imagine encountering an NPC at random, and this NPC is exceptionally tough, far tougher than any of the peds you have picked on before. You hit them and hit them but they shrug it off as though they aren’t feeling Raymond’s punches; when you eventually get them on their arse, its going to be an achievement. Naturally, you will want something to show for it. By pressing X/Square whilst locked on to the downed body, Ray will take a ‘trophy’ – much like a favourite, saved car - that can be adorned at the player’s choice. When worn, NPC’s will look and comment that ‘if you took out so-and-so’ they had better not screw with you. Naturally, people will be queuing up to take this ‘trophy’ off of you. Typhus
I believe the Westies did something like this - they cut off a rivals head and walked around Hells Kitchen with it. Yep, some guy called Coonan I think. He was already nuts, he carried around a bag of human fingers. If someone owed Mr. Noonan money, he would simply whip out the bag and people paid pretty quickly. The head thing is certainly something I've read before. Apparently it was as you said, he killed an enemy, lopped off his head and paraded it around quite openly. However, upon further reflection, he began to muse that the dead man wasn't such a bad fellow after all. Indeed, he quite liked him. So, he took the head to his favourite pub, plopped it on the bar, put a cigarette in the dead mouth and all the Westies had a drink to his memory. I can't decide if that's the sweetest thing I ever heard or the most terrifying. .Ryan.
Some more clothes wouldn't hurt, but I think the way we acquire some of them should be spiced up. I always liked in RDR collecting "scraps" to complete certain outfits. Of course it's un-necessary for every piece of clothing sold, but for some of the rarer, and unusual sort of outfits I don't see why not. For example just like in RDR you need to find the first scrap to unlock the set of goals to complete that outfit (You could find the first scrap in a building, a park, on a small island, whatever) then you get a list of goals. These could range from killing <insert number> criminals on most wanted missions to stealing a certain amount of cars. It's sort of hard to explain to those who haven't played RDR, but for those that have should be able to understand what I'm trying to get at. Generally speaking I prefer wearing average clothing. In GTA IV Niko wearing a suit just felt wrong, and he felt too much like a bum in his starting clothes. I usually buy clothes from Modo. Modo is typically neutral. Here's some I can think of that could use RDR's system which are more crazy compared to the traditional clothing. Priest Fireman Prison jumpsuit Swat Military Clown Santa Satan Icecream man Etc etc. Ok maybe not so much the last ones as that's more Saints Row style, but it would be pretty kick ass going on a rampage dressed as a priest.
