GTA IV Carmods.dat?

Ok so GTA:SA the carmods.dat obviously contained the car mod list, but I noticed that there is a carmods.dat in the IV directory, it is layed out idential to the one from sa just missing the vehilces, any ideas people?

Ok so GTA:SA the carmods.dat obviously contained the car mod list, but I noticed that there is a carmods.dat in the IV directory, it is layed out idential to the one from sa just missing the vehilces, any ideas people?

I only see two options:

 

1. It's a leftover from GTA San Andreas (which is weird cause I thought IV uses a brand new engine, RAGE) which is typical for Rockstar

 

2. It contains the car parts that are applied to the cars that spawn on the streets, you can also apply them with a trainer. In GTA San Andreas the parts or the ''extras'' were included in the car's .dff file, but in IV the parts seem to be more like the tuning parts in GTA San Andreas.

EDIT 2: I tried deleting the file. I started the game, spawned an admiral and everything worked just fine. Leftover or not, this file is completely useless. Now if we could just find the other 15143627 useless files in the game maybe we can reduce it's size to half and make it run better
