EmagmaLak
Lately on xbox ive been achievement hunting ALOT, used to love earning trophies on PS3, now my goal is to get my achievement score above 10,000 within the next few months ( currently stands at 2630 so Fingers crossed) So this topic id like to hear your views on achievement hunting, do your care about earning them? And if so whats your gamerscore? (Trophies now have a level i believe?) Also what games do you find to be easy/hard to earn achievements for? Ill kick things off, i think assassins creed 2 is an easy game to earn for! Had a platinum trophy on PS3 and i have 5-6 achievements left to get on the XBOX, none of which ill struggle with! Now GTA IV has some easy achievements with high scores: Walk Free - 50G, successfully lose a 4 star wanted Rating. Couldn't be easier! So what games do you find easy? And any easy achievements you have earned? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/465201-achievement-whoring/ Share on other sites
Rebel
I wouldn't call myself an achievement hunter. I'll play through the game once and just pick them up randomly but after I've finished or near the end of the playthrough I'll take a look at the achievements. If they are really easy, like AC2 was along with some other games I'll try and go for the full 1K or more. Honestly though, I've only ever gotten 3 games to a full 1K and I'm proud of doing every single one...especially Bully Scholarship Edition. I have to say though, not really playing much Xbox anymore some of the games achievements are f*cking hard to get when you're just an average gamer. ptiko
2 years ago, I was a freak for getting achievements. I'm glad I'm not now though. I think I ace'd Little big planet and World at war. Went for the GTAIV platinum til I found out it was impossible from the broken ranking system. Luckily, I got me the Key to liberty city Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/465201-achievement-whoring/#findComment-1060247428 Share on other sites
The Lolwut Pear
There's a pretty easy achievement in Left 4 Dead 2, called Sob Story. You just need to pass the Sugar Mill chapter in Hard Rain without starting a Witch. It's worth 30G and it's very easy in Multiplayer with Easy mode. Remix
I use them when comparing myself to others to see how long they've put into a game. That's about it, really. Mr.Mister
I've had my live account since Feb 2008 and I'm only at 12,300 gamerscore. darthYENIK
Why do some people act as if you go for an achievement you're doing it for some sort of glory or to hold it over other people's heads? It's another thing to do on a game. It gives you a reason to play a game just a little bit more. And the achievements in some games are actually really fun to do. FullMetal
I'm an achievement whore for games that I either really like or I just want to have 'all/most achievements' for. Why? I think it's disturbing to have a game with barely any achievements 'done' for it. Especially when said game's achievements are piss easy. It's what they're there for, isn't it? Gaming has been competitive since pong, but compared to Leaderboards, Trueskill ranks, and Challenges (such as CoD's) achievements might be the least competitive. I only go for them if I love the game, and there's only 3 which made me pump the fist when I got them - all on GTA IV - Wanted, Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic and LCHC Cage Fighter (which I needed to reach 1500) Games I'm looking to praise with a complete score at the moment are Mass Effect 1 and Fallout 3, both of which require multiple playthrus. I'm glad they're there. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/465201-achievement-whoring/#findComment-1060248004 Share on other sites

I thought Gears of War was an Xbox exclusive? God Of War... Achievements only really matter to me when there's a prize of some sort for achieving them, like certain sets of achievements in Team Fortress 2, Killing Floor and Mass Effect allow you items, abilities and skins and the unlocking of those things is directly tied to the earning of an achievement. They're a neat novelty on their own, but when coupled with an actual reward they suddenly become worth earning. I usually passively do achievements unless I'm looking for a challenge or trying to earn an item associated with the achievement. The more fun the achievement looks the more chance I'll actually pursue it. Barry Spock
When I first started playing I wasn't that interested in them but I've developed the habit and now (on PS3) when I hear that little ting-a-ling of getting a trophy it makes my balls tingle. Although, if the game's no good, I won't bother. It's kind of stupid, because I know I'm partly doing it just so the people on my buddies list can see. And my trophy count is woefully small. I reckon Hard Rain would be easy to scoop a bunch from, although I haven't got around to it. I'd really like to get them all for GTA4. NickRad
I think Trophies/Achievments are a bad thing for people that don't have accomplishments in real life. Dont you guys hate it when gamers measure skill by your game score, one guy on IV was acting king dick because he had 5000 trophys Achievements/trophies don't measure your skill though, some individual one's do, but in the main they measure how much you enjoy playing a game to see it thru to the end. Granted, some gamers are competitive with them, but if they think a high gs means they're good at games, they're mistaken. .Ryan.
I have no problem with them, but it's very rare I actually put the time into getting a particular achievement. The majority of mine are really easy ones like "Off The Boat" in GTA IV, or ones I've gotten by accident. It simply doesn't interest me hunting for achievements. It's pretty much the same reason why I never 100% in any of my games. I just like playing to my own satisfaction. Alot of people like going all out, and getting every achievement, and 100%-ing their games, but it's not really for me. d0mm2k8
I used to all out achievement/trophy whore on my PS3 and 360. However when I moved to PC, Games for Windows Live totally put me off of achievements because I used to get rid of it to play games (GFWL sucks dick). Snake Without a Tongue
I tend to get single player trophies. I don't have static online friends so getting MP trophies is hit and miss. GTAIV was such a pain with MP that I gave up on pursuing trophies. I remember trying to get all trophies for Bioshock then they updated for the DLC (that I neither wanted nor bought) and added a bunch of trophies that I couldn't get without buying the DLC... so I gave up. Bottom line, if it sounds like something fun and challenging I'll go for it, but if it's grind or a gimmick then forget it. james227uk
I'll complete the game first, getting achievements accidentally, then I'll go back through it afterwards to mop up the remaining achievements. I wouldn't say I'm an achievement whore, but I do like to collect them. The one thing I hate though is when people use achievements to try and prove how 'pro' a gamer they are. My best friend used to slag people down because they hadn't completed MW2's campaign on veteran like he had. It was painful to hear it. (And MW2's campaign isn't even all that difficult on Veteran) Edited December 19, 2010 by james227uk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/465201-achievement-whoring/#findComment-1060253934 Share on other sites
