Issue only after installing patch 7

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I'm posting this from an internet cafe and i'm timed, so i cant look all over the forums to see if this has been

posted or not before.I've been running gtaiv fine for the last year or so with the first patch, now I've installed

patch 7 and it refuses to work at all.I either get the ws10 error, or it doesnt start up at all.I looked online

and tried suggestions of uninstalling rgsc and reinstalling it, also reinstalling gtaiv but none of these worked.

I tried uninstalling rgsc and reinstalling both patches, but now i get an rgsc message to log in or play offline

when I try to run launchgtaiv.exe.I click play offline and it opens that same dos-prompt window but it dies after that.

When i try run gtaiv.exe i get the message "the ordinal 5367 could not be located in the dynamic link library xlive.dll"

I'm posting here because I'm at the end of my tether, I can almost not blame people for pirating when gaming companies

have such a lousy attitude towards their customers.

my system specs are:

MSI mb with intel i5 processor

4gb ram

geforce gtx460

win 7 professional

It worked before, its just since I installed patch 7 that it doesnt.

Any help would really be appreciated, i need to get back to beating up hobos.

I had the same problem.... this is from a previous post. I tried updating stuff, but this is a simple (if ugly) solution:

I installed patch 7 last night and my GTA 4 promptly stopped working. This is a fault with the patch.

To get it to work again:

Go to your browser and open Disc 1.

One of the folders is:

RGSC

Open this folder and run setup

If rockstar games social club is running, the game will run.

I was having the same (or very similar) problem. Game was working, I installed the 1.0.7.0 patch and it would no longer run. RGSC window wold open and I would log in successfully, it would then check for the disc, and then nothing at all. No error message, no game. I installed the Games for Windows Live update and the game then worked just fine.

okay i got the game working, thanks for the help

just now i cant get my savegames, i used that new xlive.dll 0.999b4

i'll try the reccomendations here

Xliveless disables GFWL completely. If you don't have internet @ home, you don't need it anyways.

And you don't have to create the savegames folder yourself. It should be there. It also contains a ControlMap.dat file. If it's not there, then load the game once, start a new game and exit. The folder should now have been created. Then, just copy your savefiles to the savegames folder and you're set.

I am having a similar problem. I installed gta4 today after a year or so. First when i wanted to sign ingame to live it would update. And then the same thing again everytime. So i downloaded the patch 7 and installed it manually. I also installed the live update(but the sign-in assistant wont install or show error details).

Now when i start gta i get a crash report:

Podpis težave:

name: APPLICATION CRASH

System RAM: -1

Available RAM: -1

Number of CPUs: 2

Video Card Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.

Video Card Description: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series

Video Card Driver Version: 8.17.0010.1041

Različica operacijskega sistema: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1

Področne nastavitve: 1060

win 7 64b, 6GB ram, cpu E8400, ati HD4850.

(I now see why some people get a pirated version instead of original - it works)

Troubles with pirated versions are even more common, due to various game versions and faulty disk images that are available for download.

If GFWL installation has failed, you will have to fix that first. Try removing GFWL completely, reboot the system and maybe use ccleaner to remove any traces. Then install this GFWL update. If it still refuses to work, remove GFWL and try using xliveless.
