Anyone know a good way to find dragons in the game?

They find you. wink.gif

If you're really desperate to find them, go looking for the dragon word walls on top of mountains and stuff.

I still haven't had any random encounters, must be unlucky.

Have you done the first main quest?

I see them all the time. Fought over 20 and I haven't played over 50 hours yet. Just move out of Whiterun and you should see them all the time.

Yeah, I did. And I've traveled around a lot without actually doing anything, yet still no random encounters.

Odd, I've had loads, over 25 in 35 hour gameplay

ok not all of those were randoms, but atleast half, if not more.

I think I'm going to start killing Falmer on sight for messin' about with my deity of choice.

Falmer? You mean Thalmor?

Yes, indeed.

Have you ever played Skyrim?

But yea that's what I meant. I had a contingent of them attack me the other day randomly. They had a contract with my name on it and I honestly couldn't recall doing anything to piss them off.

@matty: Best game ever? I think that's a pretty broad statement but certainly the best RPG to grace this generation of consoles.

@Urban: I found my 2nd dragon quite immediately south of Riften at the Shadow Stone. It sucked because I just happened to be fighting a high level conjurer that I found there at the same time.

I put about 60 hours into both Morrwind and Oblivion joined, since getting them in June. I've played around 50 hours of Skyrim since it came out.

I actually saw two dragons fighting each other! Then one of them flew away and I was left fighting a mildly injured dragon. And one time a dragon just fell dead from the sky. Free soul!

I had a pet dragon for a little while. I killed one near the marsh area next to a city (i forget it's name) but instead of just lying flat it was stood up normally bouncing around. I left the area and when i left a house i was at about 5 minutes later the dragon was there again bouncing around on the edge of some lake.

I can clear rooms with dual dagger, bow, and sneaking. Piece of cake sometimes, now that I joined the Dark Brotherhood, with that armor noone spots me hehe.

Yeah, dragons are the sh*t. Got to the Shrine of Azura and saw a Frost Dragon flying above some mountains. At first I was like "Noooo don't fly away from me!" then it just disspeared. Few minutes later, Gharbash, who is proving quite useful, töok out his bow and shot an arow into the sky. Next thing I know the dragon crash landed right into me. Slash slash slash and dragon soul absorbed! Cue that Caught A Pokemon music!

I think my favorite dragon encounters are when it hapens inside towns. Still cherish that memorable fight agaisnt that Blööd Dragon in Ríverwood. The story goes like this:

A Battlemage Breton had just married a young woman named Camilia who hailed from Riverwood. The Breton made a long journey to that small town hoping to rejoice with his wife upon being inducted into the Thieves Guild. Not long after his second foot into the town, guards of Riverwood were ordering the local folks to get inside their houses. As the Breton wondered why, he saw a guard aiming his bow to the skies. That was when he saw it. He laid his eyes upon his very first Blood Dragon. It was a ferocious beast, unlike other dragon, its breath will freeze you to death. The dragon landed on one of the rooftops, the Breton feared, as that house was the shop belonging to his beloved wife. He knew what he had to do, and that was to slay the beast. He unsheated his trusty Skyforge Steel Sword and charged towards the dragon. It caught sight of him and flew up high. The Breton smirked and unleashed a fury of lightning bolts. The town folks saw what courage the Breton had and decided to join in the fray. The guards shot their arrows and managed to force the dragon to land. An old hag was bold enough to attack the dragon with only a dagger but unfortunately she paid her life for it and became the dragon's supper. The Breton then saw his opportunity. He leaped over the dragon and penetrated it's skull with his sword. He absorbed it's soul and the town was in awe.

Could have writen more. I love my adventures.

Which quest actually triggers the dragons? I've been holding off the main quest because I heard it is very short but I've been exploring for about 30 hours now. I've discovered about 80% of the locations and cleared every one I've discovered so far, but I haven't even seen a dragon after the Helgen attack. Now I' thinking of starting a new character because when I finally unlock shouts in this playthrough, I'll have very little to use them against.

Edit: Oh, and another question: I've been to a few Dwemer dungeons and there is often an unusual table at the very end of each one which requieres a certain item to be activated. Anyone know what this item is?

The one where you are sent to the tower next to whiterun, there you should kill a dragon and absorb it's soul, then you discover that you are dragon-born.

Those are elevators. They lead to a massive underground area. I'm assuming there's a quest in which you obtain the device to use them but I haven't found it yet.

It's under the first option "I want to furnish my home" or something like that.

He sells about 5 things for it and yes the trick works on the furnishings as well. wink.gif

* A little pissed, I spotted my third dragon but he just flew off before I could engage him in a fight. tounge.gif

It's a sphere you get somehwere during the main quest.

It opens a hole in the ground wich leads downstairs, if that's what you are talking about.

When I bought my first house, I wanted to get the furnishings right away but there were no options for it. I waited a day but it still didn't work until I read the decorating guide book he gives you. Maybe that will work for you.

I have a wierd glitch on the 360. I just finished the civil war quest line, and was told I could clear out the enemy camps. Eveything's fine until you get to the leader of the camp - he loses his health then drops to his knees at which point he takes no more damage. Wait 30 secs and he gets up again with full health and attacks. It's happened at both camps I've visited so far.

I wish the dragons were as fearsome as deathclaws - those things scared the hell outta me!

I am so glad I'm not the only one this happened to. On my nord (first character) I joined the Stormcloaks, and upon being told that I was all "F*ck yeah, lets kill me some f*cking Imperials". But alas, the leader refuses to die.

My second character is in the Legion and you don't get told that so I just assumed it was meant figuratively... Unfortunately.

I'm part of the Legion, I've won the Civil War, but it annoys me. I came across three Stormcloak's in the wild and I killed them, but it gave me a bounty... I wish they would have made killling them justified by the war.

I thought the civil war was a kind of mini-game where you went and cleared out the bases. Two of them became mission locations so they got repopulated. So if you want some combat you can do them twice. Forgotten which ones they are tho.

Well, I have to say Marcurio is adding an extra 10% of fun to this game. Combat-wise he goes perfect with the run 'n' gun warrior that I'm playing. Also, his lines are so well timed and well delivered - I'm still hearing new ones.
