not Valenwood? I'm a Hunter by heart in Skyrim and Valenwood is THE haven of Hunters. Either that, or post-Great-War Summerset Isles. We could see the Thalmor and see the world from their own respective. Maybe even give us the option to f*ck with these wannabe-Nazis. Who knows?

In truth, I think Valenwood is the likely choice for the next game. You get the Elvish culture which was so popular in Morrowind, you get the rainforests and swamps people find appealing about Black Marsh, and you get the political intrigue with their interaction with the other races, who - unlike the Argonians - they interact with far more regularly. I'd actually put money on the next game being set there, that's how confident I am that it's happening. It perfectly merges together all the elements fans like.

Plus, going back to the Sload - they would be the perfect villains for that setting, seeing as how the Bosmer are extreme environmentalists who can't even harm a leaf, and the Sload are more like 19th Century British industrialists on crack. It would be a really interesting clash of cultures.

Has anyone else been going back to Oblivion? Honestly, Skyrim is all played out, and not allowing any decent mods on the PS4 has completely killed its replayability for me. So I decided to go back to the older gamer. It took me years to get into it, primarily because of the awful face models and sudden zooming-in every time you speak to someone, but I think I'm finally moving past that and enjoying the game a little.

^ If you've been playing Skyrim for years like I have, Oblivion is going to be a pretty rough experience. I went back to it last year to refresh my memory on story and how it all connects to Skyrim. I got about a third of the way through before I gave up and just watched a let's play of it on youtube. The gameplay is dated as hell, and just the aesthetics of it rub me the wrong way, it feels like very generic sword and sorcery - which is the reason why I didn't care for fantasy games for a while, I still kinda don't - it's just Skyrim and the Witcher 3, everything else is just dime store LOTR to me.

Edit: And Dark Souls, forgot about that one.

Oh, Skyrim. :sigh:

<le Pic>

I was frustrated because of my sh*tty keyboard and good-for-nothing father and ended up turning the place into ruins just so I can buy some Batteries to this piece-of-f*cking-turd Keyboard. Hopped online. Then you came.

From a pissed off i'm-gonna-murder-someone mood to an instant laughter. Yep, that's me.

Has anyone else been going back to Oblivion?

I'd play the game more, if it would just stop giving me Motion Sickness everytime I play it. And the face models, oh my f*cking God, the face models. I am NOT gonna play this game until I get it on the PC. There better be a Remodel mod somewhere.

Why can't they make it easier to put weapons in the display cases in your hearthfire houses? If I knew it was this bad I wouldn't of made them lol. And Stendarr's hammer glitches on the weapon rack and is too heavy to move around I nearly lost it. I couldn't find it until I saw this little pixel on the wall, turns out it was in the wall.

Is this The Guy?

The manequins, weapons racks, and weapon cases are really buggy. I would fill up all the racks and cases and sometimes come home to them being all over the floor and have to put them back all the time.

I dont build manequins in my hearthfire houses anymore because theyre haunted. I come home one day and its standing in the middle of the room.

As for Oblivion, if it looked and played like Skyrim I would say it was the better game. There is so much stuff I miss from oblivion that isnt in Skyrim.

Creating spells and the way enchanting weapons was done.

Finding unique items and weapons all over the world that you could actually use. (You can use unique items in Skyrim too but eventually youll be able to creat much stronger stuff)

The variety of enemies. Finding marauders in dungeons and bandits in caves.

Also miss being able to wear pants

Mannequins are actually petrified, reskinned NPCs. That's why they roam the place sometimes, before their scripts kick in.

And man, are THEY f*ckin' haunted. One day, when I was inside Darkwater Den (an Argonian/Black-Marsh-Inspired player home close to Darkwater Crossing, hence the name), I used the Nord Mead Keg to drink some mead (Dynamic Things convert all those useless keg statics to Activators to drink a bottle of whatever type of mead that Activator gives you). Thing is, for whatever reason, the retarded Mannequin that was in front of me somehow though I was "illegally drinking" from the keg (IN MY HOME!!!) and a Red Dot popped in my Compass, indicating that the "Mannequin" have turned into an "enemy". I was scared sh*tless because of it. Go f*ck yourselves, mannequins.

OT: This game is apparently racist to Bosmer (Elvist? Bosmist?). When I was playing as my Wood Elf character, a CTD happened almost all the time. But now that I'm playing as an Argonian, nope. Can only think of two overall crashes.

Kinda off topic (ish?), but does anyone here knows how to remove the stupid cape from the Vagabond Armor sets? I already removed the dumb Bear Skin but the back cape is still there. Its retardedly stupid. I'm using the Standalone Version btw, really can't do anything to the Immersive Armors version because its packed behind a .BSA.

<Mannequin Glitch>

Aw crap, why'd you guys have to go and remind me about that. I would get a weird vibe around them way back before I knew about the glitch, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me when I'd find them in slightly different poses, then I found this video

It's both hilarious and terrifying at the same time, the only other video game glitch that has that effect are the animal people from Red Dead Redemption.

I play as Bosmer all the time, they're my favorite non-human race, I never noticed a pattern. I did notice that the game (both versions) crashes more often when I'm playing as a mage character, though. Go figure.

From what I've seen, it's not that good. The zombies groan the same sound effect over and over again and the quest is very short. Furthermore, zombies are rare to find in the world and they don't come in hordes, just a couple of them.

Haven't played it myself though.

Fallout and Skyrim credits are seperate on PS4. I have 275 left in F4 and 1650 in Skyrim.

For Skyrim, I purchased the 20,99 pack that gives you 3000 credits. I own everything besides Chrysamere and Plague of the dead. You could say I paid 10 euros for almost everything. Grabbed most items for free or on sale. Not playing Skyrim currently though. Maybe the next update will bring me back.

Ahhh, good 'ol Oblivion. I really, really enjoy the quest more in Oblivion, especially the Thieves Guild (Grey Fox crowl was the absolute sh*t when you weren't in cities). I was happy they made it BC for the One (I've had my copy since I first bought it over 10 years ago) and plan on giving it a goski after I complete my xbox one playthrough of Skyrim.

Oblivion seriously gives me crazy nostalgia. It was the first video game I played on a HDTV.

Creation Club updated today. I currently don't have time for skyrim but I think I'll find some spare minutes to play soon. Even if it's just one hour a day or weekends. New content doesn't look half bad.

A new customizable backpack - looks amazing. 400 credits.

A new house near whiterun - from the looks of it, it doesn't use any new assets and is made from ingame stuff. I think I won't buy. Already have decent PS4 free houses. 300 credits.

Camping. 300 credits. Meh.

Nixhound follower - f*ck yes. Looks awesome, hopefully has some custom animations. Instant buy from me. 200 credits.

Shadowrend - new weapon with a quest for 300 credits.

I have 1500 credits left. Think I'll grab the nixhound, shadowrend and backpack. That will leave me with 600 credits for the next update.

Yesterday was Skyrim's 7th birthday since the legendary 11.11.11 release. I fired it up and took this photo of my Dovahkiin still sitting in his chair like the Emperor of Tamriel:

f*ck Bethesda's sh*tty mod servers. Tried downloading two skin texture mods to fix some slight wrist seam colour issue and they won't download. And now I can't play my new save unless I clear reserve storage to remove the ghost space added to prevent possible issues. f*ck Bethesda.

For what it's worth, with a PC you won't have to rely on corporate overlords to determine every aspect of how you can enjoy your video games. And you won't have to actually pay for mods that are a pale imitation of mods that are entirely free.

Unlike some people, I get that a percentage of gamers are never going to use a PC, for one or more reasons. Not everyone is the same. But I also understand that one thing holding a lot of people back is the "loyalist" mentality in which gaming is fundamentally associated with a certain brand and its hardware.

A lot of people say they "only care about gameplay", but it's not true: They care just as much about Sony, or Microsoft, or Nintendo, and the "mindfeel" of a certain brand and hardware (not to mention the actual feel of a particular controller--but that's okay because that part you can take with you :)). The fact is that they can't separate games from the brand--they're tied together in their minds.

The best thing that anyone can do for the success of video games--and not just the success of a particular billion-dollar corporation--is embrace freedom and open markets. As I said, not everyone is going to stop using a console, but that's fine because not everyone needs to. If just 30% of all gamers who currently still game on console switched to PC, that would be enough to start seeing positive changes, including a resurgence of real innovation in gameplay-related aspects like AI and physics rather than only in graphics.

It's weird to think I've been playing this game for almost seven years, now. I've had atleast five distinct playthroughs, not including two on 360, and have been on a single character since 2016, playing consistently. In all that time, I've still never done everything to do in base game Skyrim, and have yet to play through some of the biggest PC mods ever released. I imagine, if I live long enough to do it, playing Enderal will extend my time spent on this game by years. And I've never even really been too big on fantasy.

I think, for me, the allure of Skyrim has always been its somewhat realist brand of high fantasy. There's magic and elves and ghosts and dragons, but the characters and towns and general feel is closer to reality than it is to Lord of the Rings. The Elder Scrolls seems to be, overall, in favor of a real feeling, and it being a series of games makes that more possible (and crucial). The experience encircles the player, unlike a movie or book, and asks them to be part of the world. Making it seem believable while still fantastical goes a long way in the immersion.

I really liked Morrowind, too. It's a bit more strange and alien in its world than Skyrim, but the gritty, harsh character of the majority of the game touches on the realism I'm talking about. I always felt like Oblivion was all too bland to feel "real", and at worst, was too focused on the magic and reliant upon the daedra as demons rather than a more unique group of beings (and I think Shivering Isles definitely did better with this). Skyrim, while not particularly great as a character-involved RPG, or even playing very well for its age, has enough else to offer to keep me coming back and marveling at it. Enjoying it.

And that's not even talking about the mods. While I understand that, in all, the experience of vanilla Skyrim was more accessible thanks to the consoles, a big part of gaming for me has been mods. Bethesda offering tools to facilitate the creation of those mods, and very open policies on their dispersal, it's no wonder Skyrim has sold so well and lasted so long. Certainly not necessary for general enjoyment of the games, but gosh, TES and Fallout both really shine when the community is allowed to fine-tune the games. Such varied additions that just wouldn't be possible (or all too well-advised) to have packed into the commercial release of a game.

I hope Bethesda does learn from their mistakes with Fallout 4 (and Skyrim, because it's certainly not clean of missteps) and that, when it finally comes, TES VI will shine and live on just as long as Skyrim.

Less concerned about FO4 (which while it has some changes to the formula, I can still rack up hundreds of hours in).  More concerned that Fallout 76 isn't learnt from; while it seems most likely that VI will be single player only, the allure of microtransations and online play might still play a factor... :(

I'm a little bit more forgiving of Fallout 76 than of Fallout 4, for many reasons, even if 76 has certainly been a mess of a launch and poorly handled since. Fallout 4, to me, was a much larger disappointment, with such little to do once the campaign was over and a rather shallow, uninteresting, and generally ugly world. Despite the bettered graphics, I think it's a lot more eye-bleeding than Fallout 3 or New Vegas, and still a step down from New Vegas in writing. 76 strikes me like a much more polished worldspace with a much better grasp on a single art style, rather than 4's overall empty, samey environment and sometimes cartoonish, sometimes realist appearance. 76 is broken and almost amateurish in some ways, but I can't shake the feeling that it's still maturing, unlike 4 which feels incomplete and hollow. I'm loathe to sound like one of those people who only sings the praises of New Vegas, but I do still have more genuine fun replaying it for the sixth time than with 4 or 76.

Getting to the Elder Scrolls topic again, it's certainly something I worry about, the Creation Club and other such in-game transaction content. I haven't ever bought into any of it, and I still wouldn't come TES VI, but with the amount of content they have locked behind it for both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, I do feel like I'm missing out, and will continue to be as time goes on. The most paranoid idea I have is that they'll make VI just as hollow as Fallout 4, but start releasing worthwhile content as paid expansions... Which is scummy. But I doubt that the next main-series TES will be multiplayer, given that Elder Scrolls Online is still going strong. I'll remain hopeful for co-op, especially seeing the Skyrim Together mod in action, but I won't hold my breath.

What I keep wondering is whether there will be dragons in the next Elder Scrolls game. According to VGR (well, an analysis there at any rate), it should be likely, seeing as how dragons still are in the world after dealing with Alduin. Plus, the writer points out that they would play an interesting role in a war with the Aldmeri Dominion.

I would always prefer that control never be wrested from me (a la Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., BioShock, etc.), but I have to admit I find it odd that such a "zoom" mechanic could be a serious issue, lol. I guess it has lot to do with what one is used to and expects, though.

That's one reason why I make a point to try a game at least a second time if I know it is highly regarded. I didn't get more than an hour into Fallout 3 or Skyrim on my first tries due to quitting in disgust. Amazingly though, my first time playing Oblivion in 2015 resulted in a considerably longer play time than I ever had in Skyrim.

DEFINITELY myself when I first tried Skyrim. Wanted to return the copy even. Now I have 6 characters halfway registered, two of which have a full storyline with the third's story goes even BEFORE the game's story (even before the Great War to an extent).

Might do the same thing with the Witcher 3. Also "left" it after some point.

Umbra is back, part of the new creation club stuff.  I’ve gotten a little bit more things from the creation club content than I’d like to admit lol.  But oh well.

Surprisingly I have zero trophies on the PS4 (due to only playing with mods) even though I’ve played this game more than anything else I’ve ever played in my life.  So I started up a new play through and going to try go for the platinum.

Given up hope of my previous character (Eleeja-Ei Cassar, a male Argonian) so I swapped him with my 2nd char, Aloy (lol) Adwatch (female Altmer). But oh my f*cking God are the crashes getting on my nerve. Don't even know what causes them. I have Quick Loot installed, configured it so that it display the regular "Open Container" dialogue if said container - whatever that is - have more than 7 items, yet it doesn't work. I dare try to put ANYTHING in any container in any of my 'homes', the game crash because Quick Loot is an idiot. It worked before, but now it just doesn't.

Still didn't stop me from enjoying the College Questline though. It's my second-favorite after the Dark Brotherhood storyline.
