Is this The Guy?

New update out.

Supposedly fixed whatever the creation club update did that caused some mods ( ie frost fall, campfire, and ineed) to not work properly.

Also Xbox one users now have butterflies yay

Decided to try out the Special Edition, and tacked on some mods to boot.

Boy do I love this game again. Got Unbound, which got rid of the main quest until I want it, and spawned me in Riften as a nord archer of sorts. Instantly the game felt more free since I didn't have to follow the steps assigned to me, and could just do things on my way. Grabbed a couple of quests, went out hunting (Hunterborn is awesome btw, thanks for the tip), looked out into the night sky to activate Frostfall, ran into things I'm not even sure were scripted or not, explored a cave full of spiders by accident, cleared a fort out of bandits, and man... This game is great again.

Definitely going to dive into more mods, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it again.

Hunterborn. Campfire. FrostFall. Realistic Needs & Diseases (the USLEEP version). Complete Alchemy & Cooking Overhaul (or CACO). Scrimshaw Expanded. These mods are ESSENTIAL for survivalism/realism.

OT:

RANT TIME!

  1. Today is Skyrim's birthday. Tried fixing my PC so I can play the game w/o worrying about lag. PC refuse to recognize Skyrim. Took it to the store where I bought the game 2 years ago. Dude said that the Windows 7 copy is illegal AND not complete (already knew that), and it needed a Format. "fck it my Skyrim Anniversary run is done for it", I said, then accepted. Told the f*cker to transfer Watch_Dogs 2 and DooM 4 to his PC as backup then return them back. He said "m'kay". Went back to said f*cker. Dumbass gave me an OLD VERSION of Windows 7 AND DooM 4 is gone. "why?" "I couldn't transfer it because reasons" go f*ck yourself. Took my PC to the store where I bought it. Met the guy who built it for me. Bought DooM 4 (AGAIN), he said it'll take at least 2 hours to install. My father was sick so he couldn't return again. So we agreed to leave it there 'till the next day.

  2. Returned completely pissed, decided that I should just start the Anniversary on my sh*t laptop instead. Installed K-ENB Pure Light and went for it. "HELLOOOOO LAG MAH OLD FRIEND!". Can't complain though, even my i5 GTX 1050Ti 8GB RAM PC hate it. The fun part is, I can actually "run it" - 15FPS is still nice. Lag killed me though, so I had to switch to something else - Snowfalls ENB. Just as awesome, but not anywhere as good. Installed both the Weather and the ENB files, but for some reason the "Fog/Smoke" particles are screwed up. Left Skyrim, installed a multi-Retex pack I had that also edits the fog, hoping that the issue would be gone. NOPE. Issue is still there...... and the game started randomly CTD'ing again. Even though it was working FLAWLESSLY before. Fck off.

  3. Then I discovered the reason why my laptop goes apesh*t mad whenever I install an ENB --- be it a simple ENBSeries Binary or a Preset. For some retarded reason my laptop FORCE-launch Skyrim using the sh*tty Intel HD Graphics family, instead of nVidia GeForce 820. No wonder its always laggy. Yeah, f*ck you too HP.

But still, can't complain though. Did manage to nag a few screenies on my laptop.

E: ^^^ See that weird thing above the Blazier? That's the Smoke Particle issue I was talking about early.

Sure, they're not as good as the ones I took on my PC, but its a nice start.

^^^Those screenshots still look sick.

I havent even really been playing lately I just been screwing around with mods lol.

About to start over though and take my first crack at Frostfall. I stayed away from it initially after reading about the mod not working properly after the cc update. The most recent update is I said to have fixed its compatibility issues. Now i cant wait!

Sadly Caco and Realistic needs arent available on console :( but I have the others.

I also downloaded rustic weathers and lighting. It adds different weathers and also makes the nights darker, i mean not crazy dark but just dark enough to make camping look and feel like camping. Added lanterns of Skyrim and wearable lanterns as well.

okay console screenshots are pretty bad but it looks cool in game

I had vivid weathers but I found that I liked rustic a little more. I tried dolemite weathers as well but that mod just made the days way too bright.

I also found what I assume is not an orange rug

Be careful with mods though. I lost count of how many times I had to reinstall the game because of the mods.

If you go on youtube and search "skyrim is not an RPG" you'll get lots of videos going into detailed explanations why this is the case. It's a LARP.

The same could be done with Fallout 3, but what Zenimax did there is they also made New Vegas to create a Hegelian dialectic for the LARPers to get their teeth into.

What Zenimax are doing is obfuscating the true hidden psychological operations of Fallout 3 and Skyrim. They're not doing brain washing with these games, they are doing brain surgery.

True true. Some of these mods do have a way of sticking around even after deleting. Ive deleted the reserve space for them a couple times already and started over but luckily havent had to reinstall..... yet. Edited by That Guy There

Funny I levelled up faster in 2 weeks than I did when I originally had this game a few years ago. Dawnguard has a Helm you can get that enables the use of two guardian stones so Lover(15% xp) + Mage(25% caster xp) + Well Rested (5-15%) and it's pretty easy to level.

I just want a new Elder Scrolls game already, I love Skyrim and all but I'm tired of playing "guess when this game's gonna crash" in the back of my mind while playing Skyrim (with and without mods), even the allegedly stable Special Edition CTDs on me more often than expected. I can count on one hand the amount of times Fallout 4 has crashed, and I've put in hundreds of hours in that game. I'm ready for an Elder Scrolls experience on an updated version of the game engine - hopefully Valenwood.

Lvl 46 now, officially that the highest level I have ever been in this game, in just 3 weeks. Funny because I haven't accomplished much besides becoming the archmage of the College.

Becoming Archmage is cool, the study is pretty nice and the robes offer very good benefits for a mage build.

I'll probably hit 50 tonight lol. Started out as a mage, carried no weapons or heavy armor, got my conjuration to 100, resto 85, alteration 80 and enchanting 85. Now I am switching to a warrior build, the best armor I can craft now is Orcish armor with 160% to one hand attacks and HP/MAg bonuses as well and I got that Molag Mor?(one handed dedric mace, forget the name) and I find I am leveling so fast thanks to heavy armor and blocking. Is there a cap? Guess I'll find out soon lol.

None if you have the full updates. It was 81 originally, because by the time you reach 81 all of your skills are maxed. The last update (and by "last" I mean "last Oldrim" update) added the Legendary feature, which allows you to restart a Skill and recollect any Spill Point you spent on that skill when it reaches 100. This allows for infinite leveling, because once a skill reaches 100 you simply restart it.

OT: Skyrim apparently have officially dumped me over. I've been trying to install the game on my PC (which roasts my laptop by a margin..... GTX 1050 vs Intel HD Graphics Family /// GeForce 820.... ya). I already have the game installed on my laptop, but its modded and I can't just remove the mods. Problem is, I can simply remove every trace of any mod, but I can't mess with the Scripts and Interface folders.

So, I have a question for Oldrim PC owners: can you show me what exists in these two folders? As in, a list of what exists in the Interface and Script folders. I think Interface have only one file (translate_ENGLISH), but I have no idea what's in the Script folder which is killing me. A full list of what's in that folder would be nice. I'm talking about vanilla game's scripts ofc, not the modded files.

I'm currently done playing this on Xbox One. The final straw was my modded saves deleting themselves. And my game was stable as well.

Can't be bothered starting again for the millionth time so I uninstalled the piece of crap.

f*ck Bethesdurr and their sh*tty Creators update breaking the game.

Dat sucks ^ I play on ps4 but I am not going to use mods until I beat this beehatch.

Right now I am doing the deadra(sp?) quests for some of the artifacts. Got a mace and the spellbreaker shield, now I am trying for an actual Elder Scroll. Holy @#$% is this quest long, just got into Blackreach and this place is massive.

Leftist Bastard

I can't believe that the game has mods on the One. Last week I was at a friend's and I spent like a whole day just dicking around with mods and new characters and for the first time Skyrim felt like a genuine roleplaying game.

Okay, I feel like an idiot now.

Long-Story-Short, after f*cking up my Data folder (AGAIN), I tried a clean reinstall (so I can move the game to my PC). Problem is, I had no idea what is Vanilla and what isn't. Meshes, Textures, Seq, SKSE you name it - all are obvious mods. The Strings folder didn't receive any change (aside from one change/replace to one of the files), and the vanilla Interface Folder have one obvious file, so dealing with it was easy. The real deal-breaker was the Scripts folder, which contained a TON. It took me forever to tell the difference between Vanilla and Mod files. After dealing with the mess, I have finally "Vanilla-ized" the game.

I've also shipped all non-essential Plugins (i.e DLCs) out of the game, but apparently I have accidentally included the Update.bsa. Which is required for the Update.esm to function. Because of that, any time I launch the game, the thing freeze because Update.esm is trying to read Update.bsa and it can't because its not in the Data Folder, making the game freeze. Today I tried it out again, and while I was staring at the removed Plugins, I saw the f*cker hanging around proudly with the rest of the removed Plugin. As soon as I returned Update.bsa back to its place, the game launched like normal. FU.

Now that I have all this sorted out, I'll start moving the files (mods included) back to my PC. K-ENB Pure Light, I'm coming!

I picked up the Special Edition during Black Friday... it's been a blast playing this again. Surprisingly, just a few (rather minor) mods manage to breathe a lot more life into the game.

I downloaded a few Civil War mods that populate the roads a fair bit more, to the point of where you can even encounter 40 vs. 40 battles between Imperials and Stormcloaks. One amusing moment I had was, while in Werewolf form, getting charged by about two dozen Imperial soldiers, letting out a single roar, and then watching them all turn tail and flee. Unfortunately, their archers were out of the roar's range, and their officers were too high of a level to be affected by it, so I still got my ass handed to me.

I would have loved to play Skyrim SE on the PS4, but the mods selection isn't worth it and I already have a few current playthroughs on the PS3 that I'm still doing. If Sony ever wises up, then I'll buy it.

I suggest getting the original game on the PC. SSE isn't worth it yet. Aside from the 64Bit 8GB RAM Limit, SSE isn't any special. Modded Skyrim, or Oldrim, blows through Vanilla and modded SSE off the railway completely.

OT: Had I knew that fixing Skyrim was this easy, I wouldn't have gone through this whole trouble to "re-get" it. The game files were there, but my PC didn't recognize it. After "Regedit-ing" my PC, I've found a way to 'activate' the game (by using Run > Regedit > [series of folder here] > making a Bethesda Softworks folder and Skyrim within that folder, etc). All this was sorted about 4 days ago. Then I've spent the next days installing and "MergePlugins Standalone"-ing the mods to lessen the size of the Load Order.

After getting all those sorted I tried installing a few ENBs, currently sticking with Rampage ENB (K-ENB Pure Light is amazing 'n' all but it kills the FPS, SnowFalls ENB stopped working as intended because reasons, Kinematic ENB Southern Lights suffer from the same issue as K-ENB, haven't tried NLA yet & got bored with Tetrachromatic ENB). Managed to snag some Screenies with a mix of Rampage and Kinematic-Southern Light.

Ah, good ole' Oldrim, I miss you so. If only I weren't a lazy bastard and would delete and clean install you because I overdid it with the 4k texture mods and now you crash every ten minutes. Perhaps one day, perhaps.

Anyway, here are some old snaps from the cutting room floor before everything went so, so wrong.

When I downloaded that Stormlord armor mod the first thing I did was make my way to Windhelm and see him. He looks so badass sitting on his throne with that armor I always keep it enabled every play through. Even if I never used it, yet.

Ah, NLA. Fine ENB, that. Rampage ENB is even better, but it hits on the performance to an extent (not bad but still). K ENB Pure Light roasts on every ENB I have ever seen, but it f*ck up your rig REAL HARD unless you have TWO 1080's. Barely. Stick with NLA, its amazing. btw, If you want to reinstall Skyrim, you don't need to delete the whole game. Mass-delete everything and keep the Interface, Strings and Video folders, and any file that starts with "Skyrim - ". And, ofc, the DLCs + update. In the Interface folder, leave only the Translate_[game language here, usually English] file, and do the same with the Strings file. BOOM! Instant, clean Skyrim. Reinstalling all the mods (and re-merging them again, if you're like me).

Here I am, suffering from the same issue yet giving advices. What gives! I also suffer from the constant CTDs. It got to the point where I swapped Skyrim with DooM 4 at first, then Watch_Dogs 2. Owell, better save up for the legitimate copy of the game so I can enjoy using Mod Organizer.

So, playing AC: Origins gave me a hankering for a full on fantasy rpg and I remembered what I said last week about Oldrim, I followed the STEP guide to make the game vanilla again and brought it back to life. No issues so far, I did the opening quests, met the Greybeards, walked to Riften, started the thieve's guild questline, and finally joined the Dawnguard (because f*ck those vampire attacks) and not a single crash - I'm not fooling myself, it will crash at some point but it won't be because of the mods, it'll be because it's Skyrim. ;)

So, I got Oldrim looking sharp again and for the hell of it, I remade my favorite character - I'll be good until the next big fantasy game comes out.

cZyBJPH.jpg

But seriously, Bethesda, hurry up and make Valenwood already...

P.S. I did the opening without mods and the difference between vanilla Oldrim and modded is bananas, I can't believe I forgot.
