My Skyrim disc just cracked. It is now unplayable.

I feel so alone.

Pray for me.

The best thing to do is keep the original disk as a backup in case such as in your case they get broken. Using a back up copy to play the game wouldn't matter as much because you can easily by extra cds/dvds where as if it is the original you'll most like need to buy the whole game again.

Find another copy and download it to your hard drive! Assuming you're on 360 that is.. I always download whatever game I'm into atm to my HD so the disc doesn't spin while playing, makes them last longer imo. If the disc breaks all you have todo is stick it in there and as long as it can just detect it being the right disc it'll still play off the HD.

Oh the irony, coming from a hobo  lol.gif

So what's something that has good value in your eyes, hobo? Apparently a measily 800 Gold is not enough for thou. I doubt items can get much more valuable than that!

Just wait and see you will get some expensive things, that is a pretty decent amount, but it'll get lowered by a lot if you don't have Speech perks. What item was it?

Ok so the item is "Leather Boots of Minor Sneaking". Worth 812 Gold. Sneaking is 15% better with them.

EDIT: Damn, on a second look, I have 2 items worth 800+ Gold. The second item is "Silver Emerald Necklace", but does nothing, though.

Can't PS3 play copied media?

You need to install custom firmware, and it's not really approved by Sony. He needs to buy a "new" disc.

Which platform?

Skyrim DLC is on sale right now on Xbox Live. 800 MSP for Dawngaurd and Dragonborn and 200 MSP for Hearthfire.

I'm probably going to pick up Hearthfire tomorrow. 200 seems fair for what I hear it's like.

If they made a new one maybe they could make it a bit longer, more quests because it only took me a couple of days to finish DB then I was bored again.

What's the general opinion on Dawnguard and Dragonborn? I think I'll download them today seeing as they're on offer.

They're really good. They add tons of items, quests and stand out moments. Lots of places to discover and explore - at half price it's a no-brainer imo.

How many hours would I potentially be putting into Dawnguard (taking into account the two paths you can take) and Dragonborn? Also, what's everyones favourite quest on Skyrim?

Well, if you rush through the DB main quest, you'll find it to be very short. However, if you do it like me, who has had the DLC for 1.5 months and still hasn't finished, then yes, it is quite lengthy. There are plenty of side missions in Solstheim, and Skyrim is still there, don't forget that; I must have done like 10 trips from Skyrim to Solstheim back and forth since I've had the dlc.

I'm not sure about DG, as I'm not sure how far I am in the quest, but it seems lengthy as well.

So I'm getting this for PC. Can someone recommend me mods? Like, a lot of them? You know, visual enhancement mods, gameplay improvement, stuff like that. Pretty please?

Seriously thinking of starting a new game of Skyrim. I never got too far the first time but I know it's going to be a mammoth task. I one a code for Skyrim on here which was great but didn't have a big enough HD to download it. Now I do biggrin.gif

EDIT: It's decided. I will.

Anyone any advice on what to level up on first? Any tips. FO3 was my first RP3 and I didn't have good direction as to what to do.

I like to play as a warrior or stealthy dude with a bow and arrow. Any tips for making this a better experience for me?

So I'm getting this for PC. Can someone recommend me mods? Like, a lot of them? You know, visual enhancement mods, gameplay improvement, stuff like that. Pretty please?

Three mods that are essential for me every time I play are Immersive Armors, Skyrim Redone and Wet and Cold.

Together they change so much of the base game and cause it to be a much more challenging and rewarding experience, though you're also looking for graphical upgrades so if your rig can handle it try Skyrim HD and the AmidianBorn Book of Silence, those mods make the game incredibly beautiful and there are also a plethora of water retextures and lighting ENB's to choose from.

Then you've got the gameplay changing mods, these are the ones that have an effect on the gameplay, but don't overhaul everything, rather they just upgrade certain parts of the game to levels that make you hate to go back to playing Vanilla Skyrim. The first of these mods is called Deadly Dragons, this mod basically allows the player to customize how tough they want the in game dragon fights to be (trust me dragons with this mod on its hardest setting can tear apart a town in seconds). Yes some may say that the dragons are already strong enough but for my tastes I like to see the dragons given the strength and power to equal what they actually are. Mother. f*cking. Dragons.

Secondly you've got Frostfall, Hypothermia Camping Survival, this mod along with the Wet and Cold mod completely change the way I explored Skyrim. I had to remember my equiptment, be mindful the weather and my surroundings and always be looking for shelter when travelling the icy cold region of Skyrim.

Thirdly you have the Dragon Combat Overhaul mod, this mod's whole goal is to upgrade the dragons so that you want to fight them by giving them new abilties, animations and ways to interact with the world (if anyone remembers the scene from the E3 demo where the dragon picked up the giant, yeah they do that now and whole lot more). Without this mod I wouldn't have gotten back into Skyrim as it makes the game a hell of a lot funner.

Lastly depending on what character I'm playing (archer, thief and the like) I often choose mods that benefit their play-style and since I've been playing as a werewolf on my most recent character I couldn't live without these mods, Tales of Lycanthropy, Predator Vision Vampire and Werewolf, Bloodmoon Rising and Heart of the Beast, Heart of the Beast is more of visual and sound change but damn the difference it makes is unbelievable.

If you're looking for anymore mod recommendations check this guy out, his name's Gopher and he's been covering immersive and just generally awesome Skyrim mods since the game's come out. If you're looking for awesome mods for any play-style you can bet anything you want that he's covered it.

There are of course a few other mods that don't change a major part of the game, but little touches they add are so good you'll start to miss them if you play Skyrim without them. For instance Cloaks of Skyrim and Winter is Coming - Cloaks which add guess what ? Cloaks to the game.

You could of course be after even smaller touches like the Footprints mod or the Realistic Needs & Diseases. Both of those mods only do little things, like making your character leave behind footprints or making sure you need to sleep, eat and drink regularly to survive, these mods may not be much on their own but when they're all put together they completely change the game and the way you play it.

Level up your combat skills first. Most dungeons are set to your overall level when you enter them - and that incudes crafting and speech and sneak etc. If you add to your overall level by smithing alchemy and enchanting, you will be scaling up the enemies to stronger versions, but you won't have the block 1-h and archery to make a big dent in their health.

It's best to go with looted gear and stash all your loot and ingredients until you've levelled up and put perks in all the skills you need to fight. Use cooking to make food that heals and gives you stamina because that doesn't add to your overall level. Venison stew and vegetable soup allow you to chain power attacks and are even handy at high levels. Cabbage stew and other foods that add 10 and 15 to health and stamina are good at early levels, but their effectiveness gets less as you level up and add points to health and stamina.

If you're playing a sneaky archer use arrows as decoys. Enemies will run to the spot where the arrow made the noise, so you can get them to walk over traps or under oil lamps that you can set them on fire with.

That sounds like great advice Joseph, thanks. I didn't even know you could cook. I really only had the game briefly but now it makes sense why all the food is there? blush.gif

mods mods mods

Those are all from the Skyrim Nexus. I'm currently having trouble with that. I can't download anything because apparently my account is not validated. Well I could go validate it only if they send me a f*cking thingy to my e-mail first. Maybe I've got to be patient.

So I went ahead to get it for PC. Man I forgot how beautiful the atmosphere is in the game. Created a Redguard, it's gonna be a long adventure with him. Taking screenies is my new favorite hobby.

Nice pics mrpain. We don't get enough action shots from the PC guys.

Update 1.9 will be available on xbl and psn on Monday - it's usually midnight Pacific time when these things drop. The patch has legendary skills and legendary difficulty, plus a host of bug fixes I posted a few pages back.

Sometime after that I'll be making my final character - Ultimo Draconatus - an Imperial Indiana Jones and Dwemer scholar. I still have some quests and achievements to get, so I need to do a "do everything" type of character to make a roleplay of them.

The achievements are: Buy three plots of land, build three houses, tame and ride five dragons and kill a legendary dragon (lvl 75 minimum) The quests are: No Stone Unturned, Masks of the Dragon Priests and The Ebony Warrior (lvl 80 minimum) plus a load of miscellaneous objectives and favours I haven't done yet.

It definitely is. It's armor rating ain't really that good but it fits my character well.

Huge thanks to Lightning Strike, without you I wouldn't have as much fun as I had with the game. I haven't really mess around with graphical mods, I'm not quite there yet. There's already mods like Pets Of Skyrim and Diversified Dragons crashing my game.

Anyway more screenies
