tdkknightprowltdk
hi, here is my some what weird but working tutoral on how to fix the white glare/shine on vehicles after editing and exporting in 3ds max, now some of you might not know what im talking about, so there is a pic below showing what i mean, also if you have and questions or comments plz post them below, anyways on with te tutoral... ok so heres the pics: ok so first off, you need to have the following: 3ds Max with Kams Max Scripts Installed(max version doesnt matter i dont believe) The Vehicle Model(meaning the vehicle your modding/having the shine problem with) Basic 3ds Max/Car Modding Skills(tho more isnt a problem, its acctually better ) Some Kind of IMG Tool(doesnt matter which, but is needed to install the dff and txd of the vehicle after you do th tutoral and export the vehicle) Some Kind of TXD Tool(to make or edit the txd file for the vehicle) ok now that thats out of the way, onto step one... Step 1: load up 3ds max if you havent already, also gather up all of the files of the vehicle your modding and put them somewhere where you know they are Step 2: after importing/opening the vehicle in 3ds max, and once you have editied the car and it is ready for exporting, select all of your vehicle, right click, and select hide selection, then goto the create panal, which is like a mouse with a flash of light on the end, then click plane, goto parameters, and type in 0 for lenth an width, and 0 for lenth segs and width segs, which should make the plane 2 polys in side, then once the plane is created, right click the plane, and select editable mesh, once the plane is an editable mesh, move on to step 3 Step 3: now that you have your plane mesh created, open up the materals editor, which should look like 4 small balls which are blue, white, green and red in color, or press M on keyboard, then click the standard button and select gta materials from the box that appears, then look on the gta materials box and look for alpha, change the number from 255 to 0, since you wont be needing to see the plane ingame, color doesnt matter for the gta material, then apply the material to the plane, by selecting the plane and clicking the small logo that is a blue ball with a arrow pointing to a white sqaure, above the dropper tool, then once the plane has the gta material applyed move on to step 4 Step 4: once you have the materials applyed to the plane, unhind all of the vehicle and press H to bring up the selecting screen, then count how many geometry for your vehicle there, then select just the plane, goto edit, clone, and for how ever many geometry there are for the vehicle, you must make that many copys of the plane, so for example if your vehiclehas 15 geometry, then you must make that many copys of the plane, which means 15 planes in total, also after making a copy of the plane, you must recovert each plane to editable mesh, so for every copy of the plane you make, you can see tht the editable mesh words under the modifyer list on the top right is more darker and bold, right click it and convert to editable mesh again, if you dont then your planes wont copy right, so do this for each plane copy and after you have made as many copys of the plane as your vehicles geoemtry, move on to step 5 Step 5: once you have created an equal or more amount of plane copys as your geometry of the vehicle, select each vehicle geometry, 1 at a time, and attach 1 plane to it, do this for all geometry parts, then once you have attached 1 plane to each geometry part of the vehicle, select all of your vehilce, and eather hide or delete the rest of the planes, if you made more then needed, then open the dff exported from kams max scripts and export your vehicle, then using a txd tool to edit the txd of the vehicle if needed, and a img tool to import the vehicles dff and txd files to gta3.img, then once you have installed the dff and txd files, run you game and test the vehicle, if done correctly as in the tutoral, the car should no long have any glare/shine to it, if it does, then reopen the vehicles saved .max file and redo the steps only on the parts that stuff have the glare/shine, if you dont have a saved .max file for the vehicle, then you will have to redo the entire car using the tutoral all over again, but anyways you probably wont need to redo the car, although the glare/shine does remain sometimes on some parts of th vehicle, though it is very rare for me and should be for you well there it is, my first tutoral, and a weird one at that, idk why but the shine/glare only happends in max, never in zmod that i know of, tho hey i dont use zmod, zmod sucks imo tho i do use it if needed, which is very rare, lol, anyways i hope this tutoral helps whoever has the problem in max, idk what makes it do this, tho i think is something to do with the materals getting messed up on import or something, idk rly, anyways good luck with modding, and have a great day Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/464819-tutmaxremoving-unwanted-shine-from-vehicles/ Share on other sites
